화살표의 미학적 활용에 대한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 일반적으로 널리 사용되는 단순한 형태의 기호를 예술작품에 활용하는 방법에 대한 연구이다. 기호는 정보전달을 위해 단순화되는 방향으로 고안되고 이를 위해 가시성을 높이는 노력을 기울이게 되는데 이 때문에 자칫 도시의 공해가 되기도 한다. 본인은 이러한 기호에 다시 장식과 은유를 부여하여 실용적 의미 뿐 아니라 사색의 단초가 되는 예술 작품을 만들어 보려 시도하였다. 기호의 포괄적인 정의가 ‘다른 것을 재현하거나 지시하거나 설명하기 위한 표시’이기 때문에 이 의미를 가장 잘 담고 있다고 생각되는 화살표를 대표적 기호로 선택하여 기호의 예술적 활용을 연구하였다.

본 논문은 2015~ 2017년 제작된 작품들을 바탕으로 다음과 같이 구성되었다. 제 Ⅰ장 서론에서는 본인작품의 연구 방향과 목적에 대해 서술하였다. 제 Ⅱ장 본론에서는 첫 번째, 기호의 예술적 사용의 의의와 확장성에 대한 이론적 배경을 서술하였다. 두 번째, 가장 보편적인 기호인 화살표로 개인 내면에서 일어나는 의식의 흐름에 대한 은유, 사회적 관계 속에서 일어나는 소통의 모양에 대한 풍자, 형태적 유사성에서 오는 초현실적 연상작용을 활용한 아이콘 만들기를 통해 기호를 예술작품에 활용하는 과정을 제시하였다. 제 Ⅲ장 결론에서는 본 논문을 정리하고 앞으로의 작업방향을 제시하였다. |This thesis is a study on how to use commonly used simple signs in art works. Signs are designed in a way that is simplified for information transmission, and efforts are made to increase the visibility for this purpose. I have added decorations and metaphors to these signs to create works of art that are the trigger of philosophical thought in addition to practical meaning. Since the definition of the sign itself is an indication to reproduce, direct or explain another thing, I have studied the artistic use of the sign by choosing the arrow sign that best represents this meaning as representative sign.

This paper is based on the works produced in 2015 ~ 2017.

Chapter Ⅰ introduces the research direction and purpose of my work.

In Chapter II, the main text, first, the significance and theoretical background of the artistic use of symbols are described. Secondly, I use icons as the most common signs to describe the icons and images used in the application, and analyze them individually. In addition, I studied how to use signs as personal and artistic tools by changing the indicative sign (arrow) that has been used only for the purpose of practical information transmission to the use of surreal reminiscence or philosophical confrontation.

Chapter 3 concludes this paper and presents the future direction of work.
