- Abstract
- The purpose of this thesis is to help the music class in school by clarifying the necessity of contemporary music which varies according to the change of the times. Contemporary music is not only a necessary learning but also effective to the development of creativity of the students and the performance of educational process of music of which purpose is to enable students to understand various culture and a musical piece. Also it enables students to have broad thought so that they can have the sense of aesthetic and open mind.
When seeing contemporary music in the aspect that comtemporary music reflect the trend that is expressed in other arts, it should be considered to connect contemporary music with other arts when it is applied to the field of education. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to realize the guidance of class which reflect all the aspect mentioned above so that contemporary music class can be more active and effective.
For this reason, this thesis considered about the close mutual relation between music and fine arts by looking into both of them. By examining external method of expression and the inner idea, I tried to find the identities and connection in their original concepts. So I made a guidance of teaching - learning through the concrete sentiments of the real work of art.
According to the contents mentioned above, I present the guidance of learning of contemporary music by stages of which target is the first grades of high school. Theme music are “Prelude a l'apres-midi d'un Faune” A. C. Debussy, which is a representative of impressionism, “Pierrot Lunaire op.21” of Arnold Schnberg, which is a representative of expressionism and "The Rite of Spring“ of I. F. Stravinsky, which is a representative of primitivism. The guidance of class consists of two classes in accordance with the individual piece of music. It enables the students to learn the concepts related to contemporary music , feel and experience through the various activity from the four stages; the understanding of the work from the sentiments, the understanding of the work from documents, the analytic understanding through a musical score, the total understanding from the transitional activity. Moreover, this thesis consists of concrete guidance of class which confirm the result of the works which are seen such as music and fine arts.
In the learning of contemporary music, more study should be needed. Even though it is a necessary part of learning which we need to learn in the modern society, the class of field is insufficient. The establishment of music education programme for the improvement of leadership of contemporary music and the development of various learning tools and materials should be done.
