하이네의 시에 의한 슈만 가곡집「Liederkreis, Op.24」분석 연구

Abstract

논 문 개 요

본 논문은 슈베르트의 뒤를 이어 독일낭만시대 예술가곡의 꽃을 피운 슈만의 작품「Liederkreis, Op.24」의 시와 선율 그리고 피아노의 융합이 이루어내는 아름다운 어울림을 분석연구 한 것이다. 작곡가는 시를 통해 음악의 템포와 리듬 등의 음악적 표현을 이끌어내기 때문에 예술가곡에서 시의 질과 선택은 매우 중요한데, 슈만은 여러 시인들 중 하이네의 시에 깊이 공감을 하여 많은 곡을 작곡하였다. 작품「Liederkreis, Op.24」는 실연을 주제로 한 하이네의「노래의 책(Buch der Lieder)」1부 ‘젊은날의 아픔(Junge Leiden)’ 중 ‘노래들 Lieder’(9편)에 곡을 붙인 것으로서, 슈만의 음악에서 예술가곡의 절정을 이룬 해이자 슈만이 클라라와 결혼한 해인 1840년에 작곡되었다. 이 곡은 슈만이 피아노 작곡에서 가곡 작곡으로 옮겨간 초기 작품으로 그의 연가곡 중 최초의 작품이라는 점에서 의의가 있다. 하이네는 사랑·자유와 평화·풍자시인으로 유명한데,「Liederkreis, Op.24」에서 보여지는 그의 시는 기쁨과 고통, 설레임과 그리움, 희망과 자포자기 등의 이중적인 성격을 지니고 있다. 이러한 하이네의 이중적인 감정을 슈만이 어떻게 음악으로 아름답게 승화시켜 표현하는지 반주부를 중심으로 이 논문을 통하여 입증해보고자 한다. 본 논문에서는 먼저 하이네의 생애 및 문학작품과 하이네와 슈만의 연관성, 「노래의 책」에 대해 살펴보았고, 그 다음 슈만의 음악적 생애와 슈만의 시기별 가곡 특징, 슈만 가곡의 작곡기법적 특징을 연구하여「Liederkreis, Op.24」에 대한 이론적 배경을 제시하였다. 또한 각 곡의 작품배경을 알아보고 작품을 분석하였다. 각 곡마다 시를 해석하고 리듬과 화성과 조성, 형식, 선율과 반주부와의 관계성을 중심으로 연구하였다.

An analysis research on Schumann's 「Liederkreis, Op.24」by Heine

This thesis is an analysis on 「Liederkreis, Op.24」of Robert Schumann. This thesis analyzed the relationship between poetry, melody and piano of 「Liederkreis, Op.24」. Schumann flourished German Romantic period’s song following Schubert. The quality and choice of poetry are very important in song, because composers can draw their musical expressions such as tempo and rhythm of music through poetry. Schumann deeply sympathized with Heine and composed many songs based on Heine’s poetry.「Liederkreis, Op.24」wrote music on ‘Songs’(no.9) among ‘Youthful Sorrows(Junge Leiden)’ of「Book of Songs(Buch der Lieder)」section one which is a poem on a failure in love.「Liederkreis, Op.24」was written in 1840 which is the year when Schumann’s song reached its peak in his music and when he married with Clara.「Liederkreis, Op.24」is one of the early piece when Schumann started to compose song from piano piece and is more meaningful that it is the first piece among song cycle. Heine is famous as a poet of love, freedom, peace and satire. The poems in「Liederkreis, Op.24」show dual characteristics such as joy and pain, flutter and longing, and hope and despair. This thesis studied how Schumann beautifully sublimated and expressed these dual emotions into music through the accompaniment. This thesis firstly looked through the life and literature of Heine, correlation between Heine and Schumann and the 「Book of songs」. In addition, proposed a theoretical background on「Liederkreis, Op.24」by studying the musical life of Schumann, time series characteristics of Schumann's song, characteristics of Schumann’s composition techniques. Furthermore, this thesis analyzed the piece through the background of each song. Each poem of the songs is interpreted and the interrelation between poetry, melody and accompaniment is studied focusing on the relationship between rhythm, harmony, key, form, melody and accompaniment.
