피아노 초급 교재 비교 연구

Abstract

In line with the recently improved livelihoods and increased leisure time of citizens, music is accordingly gaining a growing attention. Among other musical instruments, piano is well-known as an easily accessible and popular entry-tool to the music world, the fact of which naturally raised the importance of piano education. Accordingly, a kaleidoscope of musical repertoire and materials to fulfill learners’ musical interest are under development, and what is significantly important at this point is choosing the right and proper material among the mass production of introductory material materials from various publishers. This paper aims to contribute to the development of piano materials that capture the zeitgeist, and to help choosing a proper material as well as maximizing its educational effectiveness. This research compared 『Bayer Sky Bicycle』, an introductory piano material to 『Piano Academia』, a comprehensive interdisciplinary material which is tailored to the current educational trend, and then compared the contents, differences, and characteristics between the two. Based on the study, the findings were as follows: The structure and content of 『Bayer Sky Bicycle』 was overall well-organized and simple, and characters among other illustrations enabled underage children to continue learning without losing interest in music. The book's tutorial sought learning through repetition by practicing finger techniques to enhance musical literacy, which led to stronger basic piano skills. However, learners might have found it tedious to repeat similar types of music over and over again. While the book’s instruction took various measures to teach dynamics, techniques, and duet performance among others, it lacked other content such as pedal usage, improvising, and enhancing musicality. 『Piano Academia』indeed deserved the sobriquet “comprehensive interdisciplinary material” for comprising an amalgam of various fields of art. Learners could enjoy a piece of music via visually feeling colors by looking at famous paintings while listening, and they could even practice improvisation. It also provided a tutorial where learners listened to music from a compact disc first, and then performed duet with the accompaniment of the disc. Another was learning an English song and making gestures and body movements with the flow of the rhythm to develop sensory learning skills. In addition, technique games enabled underage children to learn techniques and musical terms with ease. However, the book eventually contained too much content to learn, and having to immediately move the hand position right after the first staff practice to move on to the second song often threw those first-time learners into confusion. This research will help instructors in the education field to equip themselves with discernment skills, in the sense of choosing the right introductory material tailored to each learner’s taste in order to enable students to practice music without getting bored or losing interest. While various piano materials have been published in response to the demand of the rapidly changing society as well as the educational landscape, the comprehensive interdisciplinary material space for piano is merely taking its early steps, and perhaps there needs more interaction between music and other fields. Through this study, I could feel there should be continuous research and development of comprehensive interdisciplinary textbooks in order for learners to advance their creative musical thinking skills. I anticipate this research be of help to music teachers’ material selection, as well as to contribute to music educationalists’ material development in the years to come.|오늘날 생활수준의 향상으로 여가 시간이 늘어나면서 음악에 대한 관심이 높아졌다. 그중에서도 쉽게 접할 수 있고 대중적인 악기인 피아노를 입문 악기로 선택을 하게 되고, 자연스럽게 피아노 교육에 대한 중요성도 높아졌다. 이로 인하여 다양한 레퍼토리와 학습자들의 흥미를 충족시켜 주는 교재도 함께 발전되고 여러 출판사에서 쏟아져 나오는 기초 교재들 중에서 올바르고 적절한 교재 선택이 매우 중요해지고 있다. 이 연구는 현시대의 흐름에 맞는 피아노 교재 발전에 기여하고 교재의 선택에 도움을 주며 그 효과를 극대화하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구는 피아노 기초 교재 중 하나인 『바이엘 하늘자전거』와 최근 교육 경향에 맞춰진 예술융합 교재 『피아노 아카데미아』를 선정하여 교재의 구성, 교재의 비교, 그리고 특징을 살펴보았고 이 연구로 다음과 같은 결과를 알 수 있었다. 『피아노 하늘자전거』는 교재의 구성과 내용이 전체적으로 체계적이고 간결하며 캐릭터와 삽화를 삽입해서 어린 학습자들도 흥미를 잃지 않고 배울 수 있도록 구성되어 있다. 독보력과 손가락 테크닉의 반복 학습으로 기본기가 단단해질 수 있으나 비슷한 유형의 곡이 반복되어서 지루하게 느껴질 수 있다. 셈여림, 테크닉 레슨, 듀엣 연주 등 여러 가지 시도는 하고 있지만 페달의 사용, 즉흥연주, 음악성 등의 학습이 부족하다는 단점이 있다. 『피아노 아카데미아』는 예술융합 교재라는 명칭에 맞게 여러 가지의 분야의 융합으로 이루어져 있다. 명화를 통한 음악 감상으로 곡의 분위기를 색채로 느끼고 그에 따라서 즉흥연주도 가능하다. 또한 CD를 통해서 먼저 귀로 곡을 익히고 CD에서 흘러나오는 반주와 함께 듀엣 연주도 가능하다. 영어 노래를 배우고 몸으로 노래를 표현하면서 동작을 하며 감각적으로 음악을 익힐 수 있도록 한다. 그리고 ‘테크닉 게임’으로 어린 학습자들은 테크닉과 음악 용어를 어려움 없이 익힐 수 있다. 하지만, 학습할 내용들이 너무 많고, 첫 보표 연습 곡을 배우고 두 번째 곡에서 곧바로 손의 자리를 이동해서 연주해야 하기 때문에 처음 독보 연습 시 학습자들에게 혼란을 줄 수 있다. 이 연구는 교사들이 실질적인 교육현장에서 학생들이 지루하지 않고 흥미롭게 배울 수 있도록 학습자의 성향에 따른 적절한 기초 교재를 선택할 수 있는 안목에 도움을 줄 것이다. 최근의 급변하는 시대 상황과 교육 경향에 따라서 피아노 교재들이 출판되었으나 아직은 피아노 예술융합 교재가 시작 단계에 불구하기 때문에 음악과 다른 분야 간의 소통이 조금 더 필요하고 창의적인 음악적 사고를 향상시키기 위하여 현실에 쉽게 활용할 수 있는 예술융합 교재의 지속적인 연구와 발전이 필요하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구가 앞으로 교사들의 교재 선택과 음악 교육학자들의 교재 발전에 기여할 수 있기를 기대한다.
