팽창된 인체의 조형성 연구 : 본인의 작품을 중심으로

Abstract

초현실주의 시인인 엘뤼아르(Paul Eluard 1895~1952)는 '예술가가 창조에의 욕망을 느끼게 되는 것은, 그들을 에워싸고 있는 모든 것들과의 불일치를 느낄 때'라고 하였다. 인간은 수많은 혼선과 갈등 속에서 긍정적 혹은 부정적인 욕구를 가지게 되며, 그것이 자기 표현의 동기로 작용하여 그로 인해 분출되는 행위, 표현들이 예술의 바탕이 된다는 것이다. 본인은 본인의 작업에서 크게는 국민, 작게는 한 가정의 구성원으로서 살아가면서 부딪힐 수밖에 없는 많은 혼선과 갈등을 자신의 회화 어법으로, 화면 안에서 그 해답을 풀어 나가고자 하였다. 미술에 있어서 오랜 관심의 대상으로서의 인간의 몸은 더 이상 유미주의 틀 안에 머물거나, 소재 구분에 따르는 소 장르의 의미를 부여받는데 만족하거나, 일차원적 대상의 표현이라는 소박한 목표에 충실하고자 했던 과거의 영역에 머물지 않고 그 자체로 일정한 의미의 대상으로 존재할 수 있는 힘을 부여받게 되었다. 즉 시·공간의 지평을 급속히 확대시키며, 동시에 심각한 정체성의 혼란을 경험하고 있는 이 시대의 인간들에게 인체는 이제 자의식과 본능적 욕망의 표상으로 수많은 담론이 교차하는 대상이 된 것이다. 또한 인체는 인간이 추구하는 사상과 감정을 표현해 주며 무한한 생명력과 동적인 변화에서 느껴지는 선의 변화, 양감 등의 외적인 아름다움을 통해 다양한 표현이 가능한 까닭에 여러 가지 가능성과 오묘한 조형미로 오랜 세월 ?뭡? 분야에서 빼놓을 수 없는 중요한 표현 대상이 되어왔다. 본인의 작품 속에서도 인체는 절단과 팽창, 단순화 등의 다양한 양식으로 표현되어진다. 인간은 생각하는 동물이다. 생각할 수 있는 머리 덕분에 인간들은 편리한 생활을 영위하고 추위로부터 막아줄 옷과 집을 갖게 되었으며 맛있는 음식도 먹게 되었지만 언제부터인가 인간들은 더 많은 것을 얻기 위해, 남의 것을 빼앗기 위해 머리를 쓰기 시작했다. 그 머리를 없애는 본인 작업의 시작이다. 인간을 정신병원으로 내몰고 사람과 사람을 서로 이간시키며 전쟁과 기아에 허덕일 수밖에 없게 만든 인간의 머리를 없애 버린다. 결국 인간은 머리대신 풍만하고 단순한 인체를 얻게되고 몸으로만 느끼고 살아가는 본능적인 인간이 된다. 정신과 육체가 분리되고 이성은 사라졌다. 곧 개성이 배제된 전형적인 특징을 갖게된 인체는 그러한 조건 속에서도 더 강한 메시지를 전달하게 되는데 마치 이는 인터넷에서 자신의 모습을 숨기고 나서야 자신의 내면을 더욱 솔직히 표현하는 현대인들과 흡사하다. 이성을 담당하는 머리를 없애고, 심하게 팽창되어진 신체를 표현하는 행위는 이 사회에 대한 체험의 편견들을 주관적 감정으로 재해석하는 동시에 자신의 개인적인 발언이라 할 수 있다. 현시대는 어느 시대보다 물질적 풍요를 누리고 있으나 진정 추구해야할 참다운 가치의 열쇠는 욕심과 편견을 버려야하는 바로 우리 자신에게서 찾아야 한다는 것이 본 논문의 요지이며 본인 의지의 표현이기도 하다. 본 논문에서는 "머리 없는 사람들의 이야기"라는 부제로 2002년에 전시된 본인의 작품과 그 이전의 작품들까지 포함하여 그 내용과 형식을 살펴보았다. Ⅰ장 서론에서는 본인 작품의 연구목적과 내용, 그리고 연구 방법에 대해 기술하였고 Ⅱ장 본론에서는 머리를 없애고 인체를 팽창시키게된 계기와 변형의 배경을 설명하면서 인체를 통하여 표현하고자 하는 조형성에 관해 작품에 나타나는 특징적인 조형성을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 또한 과거부터 현대에 이르기까지 시대적으로 변모하는 인체표현에 대하여 알아보았고 머리가 잘림으로서 몰개성화 되어버린 인간과 결과적으로 인체가 화면 위에서 가지는 기능은 조형적 구성요소로서의 역할을 하게되는 것을 여러 근거를 통해 설명하였다. 그리고 이상의 내용을 토대로 만들어진 본인의 작품을 개별적으로 연구 분석하여 구체적으로 해설하였다. Ⅲ장 결론으로는 본 논문의 연구를 통하여 본인의 내면과 의지를 시각적으로 표현해온 과정을 살펴봄으로써 본인의 작업을 새로이 정리하였다.|A suurealism poet, Paul Eluard said "Artists arouse a desire for creation when they feel discord with what surround themselves." Human has positive or negative desire in lots of confusion and conflict, which gets motive of self-_expression, _expression and actions caused from which is becoming background of art. I want to solve lots of confusion and conflict which I shold meet as nation or a member of a family with my paints, That is expressed by human body removed head and swelled. In arts, human bday that has been concerned for a long time does not stay in frame of estheticism, endow meaning of a small genre by material division, or stay in the areaof the past which is faithful to simple goal, the _expression of the first dimentional object, any longer. It has been given the power as object of meaning. That is, to the current generation which enlarge the area of space time rapidly and experience confusion of identity seriously at the same time, human body become object which cross argument as self-consciousness and the site of instinct desire. Human body also has become important object of _expression in the field of art for a long time by various possibility and profound formative beauty because it can be expressed by various mode, which is realized by cutting and swelling of the body , and simplization. Man is thinking animal. Thank to head which can think, man has lived convenient life, has clothes and house which pretects himself from the cold, and has come to have the delicious dish. Meanwhile man has used his brain to get a lot of things and to take things from others. Cutting the head is the beginning of my work. I removed human being's head which drove man into a mental hospital, alinated a person from another, and suffered from war and starvation. In the end, human being had a plump and simple body, became instinct man who felt and live worth only body. Spirit detached from body, and rationality disappeared. In other words, The body that has had characteristic excluded personality show stronger message, which closely resemble a modern person who hide himself in chatting and express himself. Removing a head which take charge rationality and expressing a body which is swelled badly, are reinterpreting the prejudice of experience about the society with subjective feeling. We live abundant life. but that we have to look for the key of real value which we pursuit is the point of the thesis and the expression of my hoped will. I have studied my works which were exhibited as title ' people who are removed a head' in 2002, including the former works. In chapter Ⅰ, introduction, I described the goal of study about my works and the method of study. And in chapter Ⅱ, the main subject, as I explain background that I removed a head and swelled a human body, I studied formation to express through a human body. I considered _expression of body which has changed from past to modern. In chapter Ⅲ, conclusion, as I studied the course that I expressed my inside and will as paints, I have arranged my works newly.
