청각장애 아동의 음악치료 경험에 대한 질적 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 청각장애 아동이 음악치료를 통해 어떠한 것을 경험하는지에 대해 살펴보는 것이다. 연구참여자는 S농아인복지관에서 모집공고 하여 참여에 동의한 두 명의 남아와 한 명의 여아로 총 세 명이 선정되었다. 연구자는 임의대로 두 그룹으로 나누어 각각 11회기 30분에서 40분 음악치료 활동을 진행하였다. 활동을 통한 영상, 아동의 인터뷰를 전사하고 전사된 자료들을 Moustakas의 분석 과정에 따라 분석하였다. 자료 분석 결과, 총 세 개의 범주가 도출되었다. 첫 번째 범주는 자기표현으로 자신의 생각과 느낌, 욕구를 언어적인 자기표현과 음악적인 자기표현, 그리고 행동적인 자기표현으로 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 두 번째 범주는 소통으로 다른 사람과 관계를 가지며 함께하고 의사전달을 하는 언어적인 상호작용과 음악적인 상호작용 그리고 행동적인 상호작용의 경험을 볼 수 있었다. 세 번째 범주는 성장과 변화로 몰입과 창의적 표현 그리고 사회성 향상과 만족과 성취를 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과는 음악치료가 진행되는 동안 음악을 통한 자기표현에서 함께 하는 사람들과의 소통으로 이어졌고, 소통을 통해 음악치료 활동에 자유롭게 어우러져 함께 하는 성장과 변화로 살펴볼 수 있었다. 본 연구는 청각장애 아동의 음악치료 경험에 대한 질적 연구를 통한 의미를 발견했다는 점에서 의의가 있을 것으로 보인다. 그 동안 음악치료는 청각장애 아동에게 언어와 청능훈련을 위한 재활 도구로 국한되어 연구되었으나 연구 결과를 통해 청각장애 아동도 음악을 다양하게 경험할 수 있다는 것을 시사하며 음악치료의 활동 영역과 연구의 범위를 넓히는 데 있어 참고 자료라 되리라 생각한다. |ABSTRACT

Qualitative research on hearing impaired children’s experience through music therapy

The purpose of this study is to verify what hearing impairment children experience through the music therapy. For the qualitative research, study participants, two boys and one girl, are selected with their consent by recruitment at S deaf community center. Researcher divided them into two groups at random and conducted 11 music therapy sessions for each group. The outcome of music therapy activities was recorded by video and interview. And the data transcribed from this outcome was analyzed according the analysis process of Moustakas. As the result of analysis, three categories are derived. The first category, self-expression, consists of verbal self-expression, musical self-expression and behavioral self-expression. Through these different types of self-expression participants expressed their thought, feeling and desire. The second category is communication. At music therapy activities, participants showed how they communicate with others by verbal, musical and behavioral ways. The third category is growth and change. Participants’ absorption, creative expression, sociality’s improvement and accomplishment were discovered. As music therapy activities were conducted, participants’ expression of themselves through musical activities developed into communication with others. These self-expression and communication ranged not only to the domain of music but also to the domain of language and behavior. Furthermore, hearing impaired participants experienced the growth and spontaneous change through music therapy. This study ascertains the experience of hearing impaired children in music therapy by qualitative research. In the meantime, music therapy had been limited to the method of rehabilitation for auditory sense. However, this study shows hearing impaired children’s broad experiences including self-expression, communication, growth and spontaneous change through music therapy. It could be the basic research of music therapy’s applications for hearing impaired children in more various fields.
