집단사회구조를 통해 본 군상 표현연구 -본인 작품을 중심으로-

Abstract

개인은 작은 단위로 가족 크게는 사회를 조직하는 구성원이다. 우리는 그 역할에 충실하기 위해 사회에서 통용되는‘인간답게 사는 것’을 학습하게 된 다. 그것들은 법이나 제도로 규정되지 않는 사회의 암묵적인 규범들이다. 그 제도와 기준에서 벗어난 이들에 대해 비정상, 비주류로 분류하며 그들에 대한 억압과 차별은 당연한 것이 됐으며, 지속적으로 억압받는 개인은 고스란히 그 고통을 감당해야 하는 상황이다. 사회는 사회적 타자, 소수자에 대한 관용보다 개인의 무능력과 부적응의 문제를 삼으며 교화의 대상이라고 여기고 있다. 본 연구는 사회의 제도나 규범 속에서 차별받는 사회적 타자들을 목격하고, 본인이 한국사회 내에서 겪은 성차별과 집단주의 사회속의 개인의 삶에 대해 해석한 군상표현 연구이다. 작업의 방향은 사회나 집단에서 겪었던 본인의 불 완전함으로부터 시작하며 한국 사회의 집단주의와 사회적 구조, 길들여지는 인물들과 억압당하는 타자들을 작품에 표현하였다. 사회의 규범이나 관습들이 개인에게 얼마나 영향을 끼치는지, 그것을 강요받게 되는 현실과 그로인해 생 겨나는 사회적 타자들을 바라보는 우리의 시각과 태도는 어떠한지를 관찰하였 다. 반복적이고 무표정한 군상들의 모습을 통해 규격화된 삶을 사는 획일적인 현대인의 자화상을 상징적으로 그려내고자 했다. 사회적 타자들을 소재로 썼 지만 결국엔 지금 사회를 사는 현대인에 관한 내용이며 대상에 대한 재현보다 해석과 상징성을 염두하며 작품을 제작하였다. 그 과정을 통해 제작된 본인의 작품 속에서 나타나는 다양한 표현과 두드러지는 선에 대한 연구와 비현실적 인 모호한 상징적 이미지의 구성이 어떤 이야기를 논하는지를 작품을 통해 설 명하고자 한다.|Individuals are members of a family as a small unit and comprise a society as a large unit. In order to be faithful to our roles, we learn how to live a human-like life commonly accepted in our society. They are tacit norms not prescribed by laws or institutions. Those who go beyond such institutions and standards are classified as the abnormal or the nonmainstream. Oppression of and discrimination against them have become natural, and constantly suppressed individuals should endure the pain as it is. The society calls into question individuals’ incompetence and maladjustment rater than having tolerance about social others and minorities and considers them as the subjects of edification. This study concerns expression on a large group of people witnessing social others discriminated within social institutions or norms and interpreting gender discrimination the author underwent in Korean society and individuals’ life within a collectivist society. The work started with imperfections the author went through in the society or groups. The work expressed Korean society’s collectivism, social structure, tamed characters, and oppressed others. The author observed how social norms or customs affected individuals, the reality they were forced to do keep such norms or customs, and our visions and attitudes to look at social others who appeared as a result. The author intended to symbolically depict the uniform self-portraits of modern people living a standardized life through appearances of repetitive and expressionless large groups of people. This author used social others as subject matters but the work is in the end content on modern people living the current society; the author produced the work keeping in mind interpretation and symbolism rather than reproduction of objects. Through the process the author intends to study diverse expressions and noticeable lines appearing in the author’s work and explain what story to discuss with composition of unrealistic blurred symbolic images through the work.
