중학생 띄어쓰기 능력 향상을 위한 인터넷 국어사전의 활용 방안

Abstract

요즘 인터넷과 휴대전화의 발달과 더불어 적은 공간 안에 많은 글을 빠르게 적기 위해 띄어쓰기를 무시하는 현상이 늘어나고 있다. 띄어쓰기를 잘못할 경우 그 의미가 불분명해질 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 전혀 다른 뜻으로 오해를 하게 될 수도 있기 때문에 바른 띄어쓰기 교육은 매우 중요하다. 하지만 현재 학교현장에서는 효율적인 교육이 이루어지지 않고 있을 뿐만 아니라, 띄어쓰기 지도에 큰 비중을 두지 않고 있다. 현재 교육과정에서 소홀히 여기는 이러한 띄어쓰기 교육을 보완하기 위해, 본 논문에서는 인터넷 국어사전을 활용한 띄어쓰기 지도방안을 모색해 보고자 하였다. 우선 Ⅱ장에서는 교육 현장의 띄어쓰기 교육의 문제점에 대해 살펴보았다. 여기에서는 학교에서 띄어쓰기 지도의 기준으로 삼고 있는 ‘한글 맞춤법’ 규정을 살펴본 후, 7차 교육과정을 분석해보고, 교육현장에서의 띄어쓰기 지도의 문제점에 대해 알아보았다. Ⅲ장에서는 띄어쓰기 능력 향상을 위한 인터넷 국어사전 활용의 필요성에 대해 언급하였다. 띄어쓰기 학습의 중요성과 함께, 띄어쓰기 학습 변화의 필요성에 대해 언급한 후, 그 변화에 맞추어 인터넷 국어사전이 필요함을 제시하였다. Ⅳ장에서는 대표적인 인터넷 국어사전들을 비교?분석해 보며 효과적인 띄어쓰기 학습에 도움이 될 만한 요소들을 찾아보도록 하였다. 이를 바탕으로 Ⅴ장에서는 이 중 띄어쓰기 능력 향상을 위해 가장 유용하다 할 수 있는 네이버 국어사전을 중심으로 실제 지도 방안을 모색해 보았다. 띄어쓰기 교육은 자칫 학생들에게 띄어쓰기가 어렵다는 인식을 갖게 할 수 있으며, 한 두 번의 강의식 수업으로는 띄어쓰기 능력 향상을 기대하기 어렵다. 따라서 일상생활에서 띄어쓰기 여부에 확신이 들지 않을 때마다 인터넷 사전을 활용하여 해당 단어의 띄어쓰기 여부를 확인한다면 띄어쓰기 능력 향상에 도움이 될 것이다. 본 논문이 많은 한계점을 지녔음에도 불구하고, 띄어쓰기 교육에 큰 비중을 두지 않고 있는 현 교육과정에서 띄어쓰기 능력 향상을 위한 하나의 대안이 될 수 있음을 기대해 본다.|The recent trend in writing is that people no longer space words properly or at all when they are composing text and e-mail messages due to the limited space available for writing and their desire to write at a faster pace. This trend can be attributed to the phenomenal rise of Internet and cellular-phone usage. If the word spacing is incorrect, however, the meaning can become unclear and the recipient of the message can misinterpret its meaning. Considering this, it is very important to teach students the correct way to space the words in what they are writing. Most schools, however, fail to teach word spacing effectively, and to make matters worse, in some schools, even the administrators and teachers themselves are not aware of the importance of word spacing when writing. To support the current word-spacing-related teaching that is much disregarded in the current school curriculum, this study aims to show how word spacing can be taught through the use of online Korean dictionaries. In Chapter II of this study, the current issues and problems in relation to word spacing in actual classes are examined. In Chapter III, the need for online Korean dictionaries to help students improve their word spacing ability in writing is discussed. In Chapter IV, the representative online Korean dictionaries are compared and analyzed to find the factors that can boost learning in terms of word spacing in writing. Based on the foregoing, Chapter V presents a way by which such dictionaries can be used by focusing on the online Korean dictionary of the portal site Naver, which is currently considered the most useful and effective online dictionary in improving word spacing learning. The students find it difficult to learn word spacing in writing when the teacher simply lectures on it. If the students, however, will make it a habit to check the online Korean dictionary whenever they are not sure of how to space words while they are writing, they will be able to improve their word spacing skills. Although this thesis has many limitations, the teaching of word spacing skills through the use of an online Korean dictionary, which is suggested in this thesis, can boost the students’ word spacing skills, whose importance is much disregarded in the current school curriculum.
