자연적 형태를 통한 신화적 이미지의 재해석

Abstract

오늘날 우리에게 신화는 어떤 의미가 있을까? 현대 사회에서 신화는 종종 인간의 자연에 대한 무지에서 비롯되었다고 여겨진다. 과학 기술의 발전에 따라 인간은 자연과 점점 멀어지고 있으며, 그 결과 정신세계는 더욱 공허해지고 있다. 본 연구는 신화 이론을 통해 신화와 자연의 밀접한 관계를 탐구하고, 현대인의 이데올로기와 결합하여 신화적 상상력을 불러일으키며, 사람들의 정신적 공허함을 채우는 데 중점을 두고 있다. 이 연구는 현대 미술에서 조각 예술이 인간의 정신세계에 미치는 영향을 탐구하고, 현대 사회의 이데올로기와 신화의 관계에 주목한다. 현대 사회에서 신화는 어떠한 형태로 존재해야 할까? 현대인들은 신화가 자연에 대한 인간의 무지에서 비롯되었다고 흔히 생각한다. 본인은 자연 재료와 조각 예술의 형태를 결합하는 데 큰 관심이 있으며, 예술의 아름다움과 자연의 아름다움, 그리고 인공과 자연 사이의 경계와 상호 작용을 탐구했다. 현대 사회의 이데올로기 아래 신화적 이미지를 어떻게 재해석할 것인가에 대해, 본 연구는 물질(재료)과 이미지의 다양한 상호 작용을 탐색하며, 조각 창작을 통해 관람자의 정신세계를 풍부하게 하는 방법을 모색했다. 본 연구는 현대 사회에서 신화적 이미지의 중요성을 명확히 하고, 정신적 차원의 미묘한 영향이 인류 사회 발전의 과정을 관통한다는 점을 강조했다. 클로드 레비스트로스는 신화와 전설에 관한 연구를 통해 구조주의 방법론으로 신화의 존재 이유를 탐색했다. 그는 신화 속에 현대의 의미를 찾아 신화 연구의 견고한 기반을 마련했다. 신화와 전설의 형성은 자연환경과 밀접하게 연관되어 있으며, 인간의 욕망과 사회 문화와도 관련이 있다. 이러한 분석을 바탕으로, 본 연구는 다양한 작품 형태와 사회적 측면에서 작업하는 작가들을 중심으로 선행 연구를 수행했다. 대표적인 예로 김종영, 토니 크랙, 루벤 나키안이 있다. 본 연구는 이들 작가의 작품이 어떻게 표현되었는지, 그리고 작품의 경향, 의미, 개념 등에 대해 깊이 있게 분석했다. 또한, 선행 연구를 바탕으로 본인의 작품에 관한 연구도 진행했다. 첫째, 신화적 이미지를 통해 현대 사회에서 신화의 의미를 탐색하고, 둘째, ‘응물상형’ 조각의 표현 방식에 대한 응용 연구를 진행했다. 셋째, ‘여백’ 방식을 통해 실체(實體)와 공백 사이의 관계를 탐구하고, 작품에서 ‘여백’의 표현 방식을 구체적으로 분석했다. 본 연구는 자연적 요소의 활용을 통해 일상생활에서 접할 수 있는 대중 매체의 특징과 신화적 이미지를 유연하게 조합하여, 조각 창작의 형태로 신화적 이미지를 재해석하고 현대 미술에서 조각 예술이 인간의 정신세계에 미치는 영향을 탐구했다. 그러나 연구자 자신이 현대 사회에 의해 영향을 받고 있어, 신화와 전설에 대한 분석은 현실의 한계와 지식수준의 제약을 받을 수 있다. 이러한 한계에도 불구하고, 본 연구는 선행 연구를 객관적으로 분석하여 연구의 가치를 판단했다. 앞으로도 주변 환경과 사회를 지속해서 관찰하며 다양한 재료와 표현 방식을 탐구해나가야 한다. 이를 통해 현대인의 정신세계를 조형적으로 표현하는 새로운 시도를 계속해 나갈 필요가 있다.|What Significance Does Mythology Hold for Us Today? In modern society, mythology is often considered to arise from human ignorance about nature. With the advancement of science and technology, humans are becoming increasingly detached from nature, leading to a growing emptiness in the spiritual world. This study explores the close relationship between mythology and nature through mythological theory, combining it with the ideology of modern people to evoke mythological imagination, and focuses on filling the spiritual void in people. This research investigates the impact of sculptural art in contemporary art on the human psyche, paying attention to the relationship between the ideology of modern society and mythology. What form should mythology take in modern society? Modern people commonly believe that myths originate from human ignorance about nature. I have a keen interest in combining natural materials with sculptural art, exploring the beauty of art and nature, and the boundaries and interactions between the artificial and natural. Under the ideology of modern society, this study explores how to reinterpret mythological images, delves into the various interactions between material (medium) and image, and seeks ways to enrich the viewer's psyche through sculptural creation. This study clarifies the importance of mythological images in contemporary society and emphasizes that the subtle influence on the spiritual dimension permeates the process of human societal development. Claude Lévi-Strauss, through his research on myths and legends, explored the existence of myths using a structuralist methodology and established a solid foundation for mythological studies by finding contemporary meanings in myths. The formation of myths and legends is closely related to the natural environment and also to human desires and social culture. Based on this analysis, this study has conducted preliminary research focused on artists who work in various forms and social aspects. Notable examples include Kim Jong-Young, Tony Cragg, and Reuben Nakian. This research deeply analyzes how their works are expressed, and the tendencies, meanings, and concepts of their works. Additionally, based on preliminary research, I have also conducted a study on my own works. Firstly, I explored the meaning of myths in modern society through mythological images; secondly, I conducted applied research on the expression methods of 'Eungmulsanghyeong' sculpture; thirdly, I investigated the relationship between substance and void through the 'Yeobaek' method, and specifically analyzed the expression of 'Yeobaek' in the works. This research reinterprets mythological images through the use of natural elements, flexibly combining the features of popular media encountered in daily life with mythological images, and explores the impact of sculptural art in contemporary art on the human psyche. However, as a researcher influenced by modern society, the analysis of myths and legends may be limited by reality and the level of knowledge. Despite these limitations, this research objectively analyzes preliminary studies to assess the value of the research. It is necessary to continue observing the surrounding environment and society, exploring various materials and expression methods. Through this, there is a need to continue new attempts to express the modern person's psyche sculpturally.
