- Abstract
- This research is aimed at more than one year Wedding planner to investigate current level of expertise and training needs and classified that educational institution is accomplished Wedding planner training to divide into formal educational institution and irregular educational institution to evaluate status of each agency training courses. The purpose of this paper is to provide basic research information for training program of wedding planner.
I selected a current Wedding planners to be very active in the Gang nam area for more than one year as samples for achieving purpose of this research as a research subjects. And then I conducted survey to divide into a preliminary survey and main survey.
This survey was distributed 203 copies from April 10th through the 30th in 2012, but it was used total 172 copies as a final data analysis except 31 copies that the response of these are not finalized or missed questionnaires.
I gathered information to utilize SPSS 18 and depending on research subjects, I used Cronbach's α, Frequency Analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Correlation Analysis, Multiple Regression Analysis.
In order to achieve this purpose of study, I investigated needs about Wedding planner's expertise standard and educational program. I looked into training process about current Wedding planner educational institution in the theoretical background and then classified a common training process to hold by topic at each organization. Consequently, I separated four parts as ‘Wedding Study’, ‘Wedding Style products’, ‘Understanding of Wedding planner’, ‘Wedding Service executive’. To conduct this research, research tools needed are five items as ‘Wedding Planner’s professional motivation and training experiences’, ‘Wedding Planner’s expertise standard and needs for education’, ‘Demand of educational environment’, ‘Demographic Characteristics’ and I comprised questions about this five items.
Then I analyzed ‘The result of the study : Wedding Planner’s professional motivation and educational environment’, ‘Wedding Planner’s expertise standard’, ‘Wedding Planner’s needs for education’, ‘Demand of educational environment for Wedding Planner’. And I unpacked each independent variable gap analysis and correlation of knowledge and needs and the factors affecting the educational needs.
Here are the results of the research to be summarized.
First, motivation to choose the profession is accomplishment and aptitude of work rather than income and this works to them more important. Thus many of Wedding Planner are satisfying about their job.
Half of respondents answered that they have been experienced education through wedding company for 40 hours about Wedding Planner’s training experience. And they think education is very necessary for Wedding Planner.
Second, Wedding Planner’s expertise standard is average. ‘Wedding Style Product’ is greatly high level of knowledge and ‘Wedding Study’ is very low among four areas. The results for the different levels of expertise they have high level of expertise at post-graduate degree at least, married rather than unmarried, career for more than 9 years, higher position, more monthly income. Also, it shows that Wedding Planner’s expertise level is very high to satisfy their job and think that they need to learn education.
Third, Wedding Planner’s educational needs are high in ‘Wedding Style Product’ part but needs about ‘Wedding Study’ part are low. The results of different analysis about educational needs, there is a gap among age, academic background and religion. Above all, Wedding Planner who has religion among Christian, Catholic and Buddhism has a higher needs about ‘Wedding Study’ rather than Wedding Planner who doesn’t have a religion. And educational needs that are relevant to four parts increase for Wedding Planner more likely to think that education is very necessary.
Fourth, demand of Wedding Planner’s training environment has investigated that it is greatly proper to take a class for 2 hours per week training period of eight weeks. And it costs under 200,000 ~ 300,000 won. ‘Field placement of Theory and Practice Form’ is topmost as a method of teaching and they prefer to an instructor who has many hands-on-background. Regarding opinions about opening departments, 95.9 percent of all respondents answered that they need work experience as a 2 years Professional Degree Program.
Fifth, level of expertise and educational needs indicate positive relationship regarding correlation between professional knowledge standard and training demand. In other words, it shows that higher level of expertise want higher educational needs for each part.
Sixth, Wedding Planner who answered they need to educate wants more to learn rather than who replied they don’t want to train on factors affecting on educational demand. Educational demand is higher in Wedding Planner who is graduate or studying at college rather than a high school diploma. And the demand of 30 to 35 year-old group of Wedding Planners for education is the highest than the other groups.
Based on these results, we develop systematic and specialized training programs for proceeding effectively Wedding Planner training to reflect incumbent Wedding Planner’s educational needs when we exploit Wedding Planner training programs.
