요리활동이 유아의 수학개념 및 수학에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 요리활동이 유아의 수학개념 및 수학에 대한 태도에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 알아보는데 있다. 이와 같은 목적에 따라 설정된 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 1. 요리활동은 유아의 수학개념 발달에 어떤 영향을 미치는가? 1-1. 요리활동은 분류 개념 발달에 어떤 영향을 미치는가? 1-2. 요리활동은 측정 및 서열 개념 발달에 어떤 영향을 미치는가? 1-3. 요리활동은 수 개념 발달에 어떤 영향을 미치는가? 1-4. 요리활동은 공간 개념 발달에 어떤 영향을 미치는가? 1-5. 요리활동은 시간 개념 발달에 어떤 영향을 미치는가? 2. 요리활동은 유아의 수학에 대한 태도에 어떤 영향을 미치는가? 본 연구는 경기도 U시에 소재한 A초등학교 병설유치원과 U초등학교 병설유치원에 재원중인 유아 40명을 대상으로 하였으며 A병설 유치원에 재원중인 23명은 실험집단으로, U병설유치원에 재원 중인 17명은 통제집단으로 연구에 참여 하였다. 본 연구에 사용된 수학개념 검사는 유아 학습준비도 검사(한국교육개발원, 1988)에서 수학개념에 관련된 부분만 발췌하여 박상숙(1999)이 재구성한 검사도구를 사용하였다. 유아의 수학에 대한 태도를 알아보기 위해서는 Hart와 Pike(1984)의 Pictional Scale of Perceived Competence and Social Acceptance for young Children을 기초로 한 Ward(1993)의 검사 도구를 황정숙(1997)이 번안한 것을 사용하였다. 실험집단은 2005년 3월 31일부터 2005년 5월 6일까지 6주 기간 동안 총10회 요리활동을 실시하였으며 통제집단은 일반적인 유치원 교육과정 프로그램을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 수집된 자료의 통계처리는 SAS 프로그램을 사용하여 사전검사 점수를 공변량으로 하는 공변량분석(ANCOVA)을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 요리활동은 유아의 수학개념 향상에 효과가 있었으며, 하위요인인 분류, 측정 및 서열화, 수 개념, 공간, 시간 개념 향상에 효과가 있었다. 둘째, 요리활동은 유아의 수학에 대한 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 요리활동은 활동의 결과물을 시식해 볼 수 있는 먹는 즐거움을 주는 동시에 요리활동 과정에서 호기심과 흥미를 갖고 수학활동을 경험함으로써 유아의 수학개념 및 수학에 대한 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있는 교육적으로 가치 있는 활동이라고 할 수 있다.|This purpose of this study was to determine the effects of cooking activities on preschool children's mathematical concepts and attitudes. The research questions for this study were as follows: 1. What are the effects of cooking activities on the development of preschool children's mathematical concepts? 1-1 What are the effects of cooking activities on the development of preschool children's classification concepts? 1-2 What are the effects of cooking activities on the development of preschool children's measurement and order concepts? 1-3 What are the effects of cooking activities on the development of preschool children's number concepts? 1-4 What are the effects of cooking activities on the development of preschool children's space concepts? 1-5 What are the effects of cooking activities on the development of preschool children's time concepts? 2. What are the effects of cooking activities on the development of preschool children's mathematical attitudes? The subjects for this study were 23 kindergarten children from A elementary school and 17 kindergarten children from U elementary school located in U city in Gyeonggido. 23 children participated in the study as an experimental group, and 17 children as a control group. For children's mathematical concepts, the children's learning preparatory test developed by Korean Educational Development Institute in 1988 and redesigned by Sangsook Park in 1999 was used. For children's mathematical attitudes, Ward's test tool (1993) based on the Fictional Scale of Perceived Competence and Social Acceptance for Young Children (Hart & Pike, 1984) and translated by Jeongsook Hwang in 1997 was adopted. The experimental group A participated in the 10 cooking activities for 6 weeks from March 31 to May 6, 2005, while the control group attended the normal educational programs. The data collected were analyzed by using the SAS program to perform ANCOVA with the prior test results as a covariant. The results of the present research were as follows: Firstly, the cooking activities had positive effects on the children's mathematical concepts. The cooking activities also positively influenced the concepts of classification, measurement, order, number, space and time. Secondly, the cooking activities contributed positively to the improvement of the children's mathematical attitudes. Based on this study, cooking helped enhancing the children's mathematical concepts, and further promoted children's curiosity and interests as well as pleasure.
