아동복지시설 초등학교 고학년의 음악적성 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 아동복지시설 초등학교 고학년 아동들의 음악적 능력과 음악교육 경험의 실태를 알아보고 시설 아동의 음악적 경험과 음악적성과의 관계를 분석하여 아동복지시설 아동이 가지고 있는 음악적성을 향상시키는데 목적이 있다. 서울, 부산, 경기, 강원, 충북, 경북 6개 지역 아동복지시설 4~6학년 141명을 대상으로 한국 음악적성 검사(KMAT)와 음악경험 설문지가 실시되었고, 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 아동복지시설 초등학생 KMAT의 각 학년별 평균과 현경실의 일반 초등학교 4학년~6학년의 학년별 평균을 비교하였다. 4학년 리듬을 제외한 그 외 학년의 리듬, 가락, 리듬과 가락의 합에서 아동복지시설 초등학생의 KMAT 평균이 일반 초등학생들보다 낮게 나타났다. 둘째, 지역별 평균을 보았을 때 KMAT 리듬과 가락의 합 점수에서 서울이 가장 높았고, 부산, 충북, 경북, 강원, 경기 지역의 순서로 나타났다. 셋째, 서울과 부산의 대도시와 그 외 지역 아동복지시설 초등학생의 KMAT 평균에서는 대도시가 그 외 지역보다 리듬, 가락, 리듬과 가락의 합에서 모두 높게 나타났다. 넷째, 설문 문항별 KMAT 상관계수에서는 음악 교육 경험의 유무와 음악교육을 받은 기간이 음악적성과 의미가 있게 나타났다. 교육을 받은 기간과 KMAT 리듬과의 상관계수는 .266이고, 가락과의 상관계수는 .387, 리듬과 가락의 합 상관계수는 .384로 유의도 P<.01 수준에서 상관있었다. 본 연구의 결과에 따르면 아동복지시설 아동들이 음악적 경험을 좋아하고 비교적 많은 부분에서 긍정적인 생각을 갖고 있는데 반해 음악을 접할 수 있는 환경과 여건은 충족되지 못하고 있어서 음악적성에서 차이가 나타나고 있었다. 음악적성이 대도시와 그 외 지역에서 차이를 보였는데, 지역별로 균형 있는 음악교육을 경험할 수 있게 하여 시설 아동들의 음악적성을 향상시키도록 개선할 필요가 있다.

| The purpose of this study is to find means to enhance the musical aptitude of children in child-welfare facilities. This study investigates the current state of the musical ability and music education of the 4-6th graders in child-welfare facilities, and the correlation between prior music experience and musical aptitude in those children. We have administerd KMAT to 141 to the 4-6th graders in 6 child- welfare facilities across the country, and have surveyed their experience in music. The results of the analysis are as follows.

First, we compared the KMAT average scores of each grade with those of children attending elementary schools obtained by Hyun. Their rhythm and melody score were lower than those of the elementary school children except for 4th graders' rhythm score. Second. the sum of rhythm and melody scores were highest in Seoul, followed by Busan and Chungcheongbuk-do. Third, the scores of large cities of Seoul and Busan were higher than those of other cities. Fourth, the correlation coefficients of each question item in KMAT showed that children's music education and the duration of that experience meaningfully influence musical aptitude. The duration of music education had a .266 correlation coefficient with rhythm, .387 with melody, and .384 with their sum, all of which wre significant at a lever of P<.01.

This study shows that, while the children at welfare facilities enjoyed music experience, they showed comparatively deficient musical aptitude due to poor environmental conditions for musical experience. There is a need to improve the current situation so that children at welfare facilities will enhance their musical aptitude.
