시간과 공간을 기록한 생활풍경이미지

Abstract

본 논문은 2019년 석사학위 청구 전 <조각들>에 전시된 본인 작품을 중심으로 내용과 조형적 전개 과정을 연구한 것이다. 우리는 일상 속에서 동일한 공간에 드나들며 반복적인 일을 수행한다. 하지만 평소 그것을 당연하게 여기며 간과하곤 한다. 본인의 일상 중 가장 반복적인 일은 대중교통의 이용이다. 하루를 시작하고 마감할 때 항상 이용하기 때문이다. 대중교통은 정해진 경로에 따라 매일 같은 공간을 이동한다. 본인은 시간이 지날수록 그 풍경들이 익숙해져 점차 관심에서 멀어지게 되었다. 하지만 어느 날 그곳을 보았을 때, 여전히 같으리라 생각했던 본인의 생각과는 다르게 풍경이 바뀌어있었다. 이 경험을 통해 우리가 살아가는 일상생활이 항상 변화하고 있음을 느끼고, 변화의 과정을 기록하고자 삶에 대한 미시적 관찰과 해석이 필요하다고 여겼다. 본인은 위 작업을 구현하기 위해 판화와 디지털 매체를 함께 이용하였다. 전통적인 판화는 공간을 통해 느끼는 감정을 시각적으로 표현하기 적합하지만, 일상 속에서 진행하기에는 재료나 공간의 측면에서 어려움을 가졌다. 따라서 본인은 항상 소지하고 다니는 스마트폰을 이용하여 사진과 영상으로 일상을 기록하였다. 기록된 데이터는 판화의 과정에서 해체, 재구성하여 본인만의 시각과 감정을 담은 작품으로 표현하고자 하였다. 삶의 기반들을 주관적인 시선으로 나눈 해체는 공간을 구성하는 요소들을 강조하며, 우리의 일상이 어떻게 이루어져 있는가를 드러내고자 하였다. 그리고 해체된 요소들을 본인의 기억과 감정에 따라 연결한 재구성은 삶과 경험의 연관 관계를 보여주고자 하였다. 본인은 일상이 이루어지는 곳, 즉 생활 속에서 마주하는 시간과 공간들을 작품을 통해 다시 바라보게 한다. 이를 통해 무관심했던 인식의 변화를 꾀하고, 연관된 기억을 통해 사고의 확장이 이루어질 수 있도록 하고자 한다. 그리고 이러한 일상의 일부를 통해 우리가 살아가는 삶의 흔적을 보여주고자 한다.|This study investigated the content and formative development process of my work exhibited in <Pieces> before requesting a master's degree in 2019. I intend to come up with an opportunity for viewers to think about the objects of life by showing parts of everyday life into an art form, and to help them to see themselves progressing gradually in society through the changing image of everyday life. We go in and out of the same place in our lives and carry out repetitive tasks. One day, when I was spending my daily life as usual, I realized that spaces that I took for granted and overlooked are always changing. Through the experience, I considered that microscopic observation and interpretation of life are necessary for recording the changing process of life. I used prints and digital media during the process of producing a study on everyday life into artworks. Whereas traditional prints are suitable for visually expressing the feelings felt through space, I had difficulties to proceed in everyday life in terms of material and space. Therefore, I recorded everyday lives in photographs and video using smartphone that I always carry. The recorded data was expressed into artworks that contain my own views and feelings through 'dissolution' and 'reconstruction' in engraving process. Disassembled components of life through a subjective point of view intended to emphasize parts of everyday life that are usually hard to see carefully. Also, the reconstruction that connected disassembled life according to memory and emotion intended to show the link between everyday life and experience. I help viewers to see the place where everyday life takes place through artwork, meaning the time and space that they encounter in life. I intend to change awareness that we were apathetic about and to widen our thinking through interrelated memories. Also, the intention is to show the traces of life that we live in through these parts of everyday life.
