수학영재교육에 관한 학문적 분석 및 제시

Abstract

현대사회는 국가경쟁력에서 우위를 보이고 사회 발전에 기여할 수 있는 영재아들의 육성이 요구된다. 이에 우리나라는 영재교육진흥법을 마련하고 영재교육을 본격적으로 시행하게 되었지만 아직 초기 단계일 뿐만 아니라 많은 문제점을 내포하고 있다. 아직까지도 영재에 대한 개념의 정립은 물론 영재 선발과 프로그램 등의 개발도 이루어지지 못하고 있는 실정이며, 또한 영재들의 창의성이 충분히 발휘되고 반영될 수 있는 환경 역시 부족한 상황이다. 영재들이 알맞은 교육의 수혜자가 되어, 지식기반의 현 사회에서 자아실현은 물론이고 사회에 이바지 하는 사람으로 성장할 수 있도록 재정적, 심리적, 제도적인 관심과 장치가 필요하다. 이에 본 논문은 영재교육에 직접적으로 관련된다고 여겨지는 학부모, 학생, 교사에게 설문을 통해 영재교육에 대한 인식을 알아보고, 영재교육의 문제점과 앞으로 나아갈 방향에 대해서도 알아보고자 한다. 본 논문은 제 1장 서론에서는 영재교육 연구의 필요성과 연구 내용 및 방법, 제 2장에서는 수학영재의 정의와 특성, 제 3장에서는 주요국가의 영재교육 실태, 제 4장에서는 우리나라 수학 영재교육의 문제점 및 나아갈 방향 그리고 제 5장 결론으로 구성되어 있다.|In present day it is put an emphasis vigorously on bringing up gifted children who can contribute to immanent social evolution and to improve our international competitiveness. In Korea, special education for gifted children has started in 1970's. However, governmental policies and school practices were more focused on special education for gifted children in sciences. Mathematics has been taught aiming for nurturing giftedness in science not nurturing the giftedness in mathematics. Special education for gifted children in the field of Mathematics is done in three kinds of institutions, that is, regular schools, after-school educations by local board of education and education centers in universities for gifted children in science field. But financial support and the numbers of professional teachers for this program are not sufficient presently. Mathematics is a subject that anyone can study relying on one's intellectual ability and it has no connection with one's age or intellectual experience in life. Yet Mathematics education in Korea not only ignores the individual variations, but it also obstructs the creativeness and the potential energy of the gifted children. The goal of this study is to improve the special education system for the precocious student on mathematics and state the object of the development of special education for mathematically gifted geniuses.
