세시풍속을 활용한 경제교육이 유아의 경제개념과 친사회적 행동에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구는 1월에서 12월에 이르는 1년의 흐름에 맞추어 반복되어 왔던 주기전승의 다양한 민속현상인 세시풍속을 활용하여 유아경제교육의 실제에 적용했을 때 유아의 경제개념과 친사회성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 한다. 이를 통하여 유아교육 현장에서 유아의 경제개념과 친사회적 행동에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있는 경제교육 활동을 구성하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 이와 같은 연구목적에 따라 설정된 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 세시풍속을 활용한 경제교육은 유아의 경제개념에 영향을 미치는가? 둘째, 세시풍속을 활용한 경제교육은 유아의 친사회적 행동에 영향을 미치는가? 본 연구는 서울특별시에 위치한 A유치원 만 4세 두 학급 유아 47명을 대상으로 하였다. 집단별 유아의 수는 각 23, 24명으로 두 학급 중 한 학급을 실험집단으로 다른 학급을 통제집단으로 임의로 배정하였다. 유아의 경제 개념을 측정하기 위해 박미자(2008)가 제작한 '유아경제개념 검사도구'를 사용하였다. 그리고 유아의 사회적 행동을 측정하기 위해 Weir와 Duveen(1981)의 Prosocial Behavior Questionnaire(PBQ)를 권연희(1995)가 번안ㆍ수정하고, 이수민(2005)이 일부 보완하여 사용한 ‘교사용 친사회적 행동 질문지’를 사용하였다. 세시풍속을 활용한 경제교육 활동은 2008년 10월 20일(월)부터 2008년 12월 12일(금)까지 8주 동안 주 2회씩 총 16회에 걸쳐 실험집단 유아를 대상으로 실시하였다. 실험집단의 유아들은 매주 화요일과 목요일 오전 자유선택활동 시간에 흥미영역을 중심으로 60분 동안 세시풍속을 활용한 경제교육 활동을 하고 통제집단은 생활주제에 따라 수업이 이루어졌다. 집단 간의 경제개념과 친사회적 행동의 차이를 분석하기 위해 SPSS프로그램을 사용하여 공변량 분석(ANCOVA)을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 세시풍속을 활용한 경제교육 활동이 유아의 경제개념 향상에 긍정적인 효과가 있었다. 세시풍속을 활용한 경제교육 활동에 참여한 실험집단 유아들이 희소성·선택·기회비용개념, 소비개념, 상품과 서비스개념, 화폐개념, 가격과 교환개념, 시장개념 점수가 통제집단 유아들 보다 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 세시풍속을 활용한 경제교육 활동이 유아의 친사회적 행동 향상에 긍정적인 효과가 있었다. 세시풍속을 활용한 경제교육 활동에 참여한 실험집단 유아들이 나누기 행동, 협력하기 행동 점수가 통제집단 유아들 보다 높게 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 종합해보면 세시풍속을 활용한 경제교육 활동은 유아의 경제개념과 친사회적 행동에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있다.|Using seasonal customs of the various folk phenomena passed down periodically with the flow of one year from January to December, this study intends to inspect the effects of seasonal customs on young children's economic concepts and pro-social properties when they are applied to practice of young children's economic education. And it aims at offering the basic data for composing the economic education activities to influence positively on young children's economic concepts and pro-social behaviors at the field. According to these purposes above, research topics were set like followings. First, What are the effects of economic education. using seasonal customs influence on young children's economic concepts? Second, 1. What are the effects of economic education. using seasonal customs influence on young children's pro-social ability? This study was done for 47 young children of 4-years-old in 2 classes of A Kindergarten at Seoul. The number of young children by group was 23, 24, respectively. One class was randomly assigned as the experimental group, and the other as the control group. In order to measure economic concepts of young children, 'Economic Concept Test for Young Children' by Mi -Ja Park(2008) was used. And, to measure social behaviors of young children, 'Questionnaire on pro-social behaviors for teachers' was used, which originated from Pro-social Behavior Questionnaire(PBQ) of Weir and Duveen(1981) and then adapted ㆍ corrected by Yeon-Hi Kwon(1995), complemented by Su-Min Lee(2005). As for the economic education activities using seasonal customs, it was performed for the experimental group infants for 8 weeks from 20th, Oct(Mon) to 12th, Dec. 2008(Fri), two times a week, total 16 times. For young children of the experimental group, economic education activities using seasonal customs were given for 60 mins centered on region of interest in the free choice activity class, every earlier Tuesday and Thursday. For infants of the control group, instruction was given according to life theme. To analyze difference of the economic concepts and pro-social behaviors between the groups, analysis of covariance(ANCOVA) was performed using SPSS program. The research results of this study are like followings below. First, economic education activities using seasonal customs had the positive effect on improving young children's economic concepts. Young children's of the experimental group who participated in the economic education activities using seasonal customs had the higher points than those of the control group in the concepts on scarcity selection, opportunity cost, consumption, goods and service, currency, price and exchange, market. Second, economic education activities using seasonal customs influenced positively on increasing young children's pro-social behaviors. Young children's of the experimental group who participated in the economic education activities using seasonal customs had the higher points than those of the control group in the sharing and cooperating behaviors. As the result, it showed that economic education activities using seasonal customs have the positive effects on young children's economic concepts and pro-social behaviors.
