서울지역 고등학교 실용음악과 학생들의 전공 만족도와 진로인식 조사

Abstract

The current paper sampled and analyzed data on whether high school students majoring in applied music in Seoul, Korea were satisfied with their major courses and how they made their career choices. The purpose of this study was to serve as a useful data to understand students' school major satisfaction and career perception. In order to examine their level of satisfaction with the major courses in applied music, the study distributed a questionnaire to three officially registered schools in 2020. Of 101 students from two schools excluding one school, 70 copies were collected and analyzed. The analysis on the surveyed students’ major satisfaction and career perception led to the following findings. First, in terms of Question 1, whether the high school students in Seoul choose the major of applied music because of their interest in applied music, approximately more than 50% of the students responded ‘strongly agree’. Therefore, it was revealed that the reason why the students entered the department of applied music reflected their own intentions more importantly than the recommendations or influences from their parents or peers. Second, in terms of the question about the satisfaction with the amount and difficulty of learning in music subject, the positive response accounted for 47.1%. In other words, it was revealed that the students were satisfied in general. Third, in terms of the question about the reason why they thought that the music courses were not systematically organized for each grade, nearly half of the students chose the answer 'I don't know’. In terms of the questions about satisfaction with the major courses, the positive response rate of satisfaction with the evaluation method of music and major courses was low, and the negative response rate of memorization-oriented evaluation was very high. Therefore, it was revealed that there was a substantial gap in the satisfaction of the evaluation. Fourth, in terms of the question of career perception, positive responses accounted for a high percentage of 91.4%. Considering that they had already entered a high school with an applied music department for their dreams set earlier, it seemed that they showed a lot of interest in career paths. Fifth, given that the students who did not want to go to college related to their major responded that ‘they did not feel the necessity’, they might not have thought about the reason for not going to university specifically. That is, there might be a lack of educational curriculum introducing and explaining the occupations and careers students could choose besides going to college.|본 논문은 서울지역 실용음악과 고등학교 학생들이 전공수업에 대해서 만족하고 있는지, 진로에 대한 선택은 얼마나 이루어졌는지 자료를 표집·분석하고, 학생들의 학교 전공만족도와 진로인식을 파악할 수 있는 유용한 자료가 되는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구는 서울지역 실용음악과 고등학교의 전공만족도를 조사하기 위하여 2020년 현재 정식 등록된 3개교를 대상으로 설문지를 배포하여, 한 학교를 제외한 2개교에서 회수한 70부의 자료를 가지고 분석하였고 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전공 선택 이유를 묻는 설문 결과, 실용음악에 흥미를 느껴 본인의 선택으로 해당학교를 진학한 학생들의 비율은 90%로 확인되었다. 이 설문조사에서 학생들의 실용음악과 진학에는 부모님과 주변인들의 권유나 영향보다 본인의 의사를 가장 중요하게 반영하여 진학한 것을 알 수 있다. 둘째, 전공 교과 만족도를 묻는 설문 결과, 10개의 문항 중 긍정적인 응답이 평균 35.1%로 확인되었다. 음악과 전공 교과의 학습량 및 학습 수준에 만족도는 긍정의 응답이 47.1%로 전반적으로 만족하는 것으로 볼 수 있다. 셋째, 전공 교과 구성에 관한 설문 결과, 음악과 전공 교과의 각 학년 구성에 대해서 ‘잘 모르겠다’는 응답에 절반 가까운 학생이 선택한 것으로 확인되었다. 전공 교과 만족도에 대해 물어본 설문의 문항에서 음악과 전공 교과의 평가방식에 만족한다는 긍정의 응답이 낮게 드러났고 암기위주의 평가방식이라는 부정의 응답이 매우 높게 나타났다. 이 응답을 통해 평가방식의 만족도에 차이가 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 넷째, 진로 관심도에 관한 설문 결과, 긍정의 응답을 한 학생들은 91.4%의 높은 비율로 확인되었다. 일찍 정해진 자신의 꿈을 이루기 위해 실용음악과가 있는 고등학교에 진학한 만큼 진로에 대해 높은 관심을 보이는 것으로 확인된다. 다섯째, 대학 진학에 관한 설문 결과, 대학을 진학하지 않으려는 학생들에게 설문한 문항에서 ‘필요성을 못 느껴서’ 응답이 높게 나타났다. 대학을 진학하지 않으려는 이유에 대해서 구체적으로 생각해보지 못한 학생이 있는 것으로 보인다. 대학을 진학하지 않으려는 이유가 적지 않게 나타난 것을 보아 대학 진학 외에 학생들이 선택할 수 있는 직업이나 진로에 대한 소개와 설명을 해주는 교육 커리큘럼이 부족한 것으로 보여진다.
