생상《바이올린 소나타 1번, Op.75》분석연구

Abstract
본 논문은 생상(Camille Saint-Sa?ns, 1835-1921)의 《바이올린 소나타 1번》(Violin Sonata No.1, Op. 75)의 1악장과 2악장에 관한 분석 연구이다. 1885년 작곡된 생상의 《바이올린 소나타 1번》(1885)은 잘 알려져 있지 않지만 생상의 창작활동이 가장 왕성했던 시기에 만들어진 곡으로 생상의 고전적이면서도 낭만적인 특징이 잘 배여있다.
곡은 총 4악장으로 구성되어 있으며, 1악장과 2악장을 1부로, 3악장과 4악장을 2부로 나누어 두 악장씩 묶어 연주한다. 1악장은 제시부, 발전부, 재현부, 코다로 이루어진 소나타형식으로 고전적 균형을 갖추고 있으면서도 내용면에서는 자유롭게 구성되었다. 제시부는 1주제가 세 번이나 반복되면서 길이가 길어진데 비해 재현부는 2주제도 없이 1주제만으로 구성되어 매우 축소된 불균형을 이루고 있다. 또한 제시부에는 1주제와 2주제 뒤에는 언제나 경과부가 따라오고 소종결부는 생략되었다. 1악장에서 2악장 사이에 두 악장을 잇는 추가적인 연결구가 온다는 것도 일반적 소나타에서는 찾아볼 수 없는 형식적 특징이다. 1악장은 활발한 리듬감을 가진 열정적인 곡이며 짜임새 있는 마디 구조와 아르페지오를 사용한 넓은 화성, 유려하게 흐르는 선율들은 섬세한 선율패턴과 음향을 중요시하는 프랑스 음악의 특성을 드러내고 있다.
2악장은 Adagio의 빠르기를 가진 A, B, A′, 코다로 구성된 전형적인 3부분 형식이다. A는 정적인 분위기로 선율적 중심으로 전개되고, B는 3가지의 동기적 요소로 구성되어 이 동기들을 반복적으로 사용하였다. A′에서는 A를 반복할 때 단순한 모방이 아닌, 음형에 변화를 주어 변주하여 나타나고, 코다의 길이는 9마디로 이 안에 A와 B의 동기적 요소들을 모두 포함한 채로 2악장의 코다답게 p-pp-ppp로 마무리 한다. 2악장은 전 악장을 통틀어 연주자나 청중이 유일하게 쉬어갈수 있는 편안하고 매우 서정적인 악장이다.
분석의 결과 생상의《바이올린 소나타 1번》에서는 그의 고전성과 낭만성, 그리고 프랑스적인 세련된 음악적 특징들을 확인 할 수 있었다. 본 논문 연구가 앞으로 생상의 《바이올린 소나타 1번》을 연주하는 이들에게 작품을 심층적으로 이해하는 길잡이가 되기를 기대한다.
