바디아트 디자인에 나타난 초현실주의 표현기법 분석

Abstract

개성이 중요시되는 현대 문화에 맞춰 많은 예술가들은 상상을 초월하는 새로운 디자인들로 차별화를 두는 동시에 대중들에게 시각적 충격과 작품의 개성이 느껴질 수 있도록 예술성을 부여하고자 한다. 특히 바디아트는 인체 자체를 예술적 대상으로 인식하는 21세기 현대 미술 흐름 속에서 인간의 몸을예술의 행위로 표현하고 있으며, 나아가 새로운 조형예술의 한 분야로 상업예술까지 발전하였다. 이러한 바디아트는 트렌드에 있어서 재료의 활용도에 따라 인체의 아름다움을 디자인함으로써 예술가들은 새로운 작품의 탄생을 위해 더 나은 방향을 모색하고 다른 분야와의 융합이나 미술사조의 접목을 시도하여 창의적인 작품을 창출하고 있다. 그 중에서도 초현실주의는 제1차 세계대전 이후 이성에 의하여 통제되는 사회와 현실에서 벗어나기 위해 만들어진 예술사조로, 무의식 속에서 꿈과 환상을 바탕으로 현실에는 없는 무언가를 덧붙인 초현실주의적 표현을 통해 정신적 자유를 지향하고 예술적 가치를 표출하며 새로운 예술적 이미지를 나타내고 있다. 본 연구에서는 꿈과 상상력을 자극시키며 독특한 영향을 미친 초현실주의에 대한 개념과 기법을 고찰하고, 초현실주의 표현기법 및 특성과 바디아트 디자인의 표현요소를 분석하여 바디아트 디자인에 나타난 초현실주의 미적특성을 도출하였다. 이를 바탕으로 현대 바디아트 작품에서 초현실주의 표현기법의 활용에 대하여 분석함으로써 초현실주의 미적 특성을 통해 바디아트 디자인에서의 기초자료를 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 바디아트 디자인 분석을 위하여 바디아트 전문 아티스트의 작품을 단행본 및 전문잡지, 전문사이트 등을 통하여 작품이미지를 선정하였으며, 바디아트의 특징이 두드러지게 나타난 529장의 작품을 대상으로 초현실주의 표현기법과 바디아트 표현요소를 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 트롱프뢰유에서는 공간의 모호성이 13%의 비율로 가장 높게 나타났으며, 그 다음은 7.6%의 인체의 형상화순으로 형태의 유사성을 비롯한 다양한 기법들이 관찰되었다. 인체의 패턴화의 경우 4.3%의 낮은 비율이지만 추상적 초현실의 이미지에서 특징이 두드러지게 표현되는 디자인이라 할 수 있다. 인체의 응용에서는 인체의 은폐가 18.1%로 비중이 가장 높았으며, 이는 바디 아트 표현 요소와 교차분석 결과 색채의 특성에서 22.4%로 서로 연관성이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이 외에도 인체의 변형, 인체의 노출, 인체의 위치변경으로 나타났다. 데페이즈망 기법은 인체의 결합이 5.7%의 비율로 가장 높았으며, 소재의 합성이 4.2%의 비율로 관찰되었다. 낯선 공간의 배치가 4.7%, 크기의 변화가 0.8%로 나타났으며, 이 기법은 낮은 비율이지만 환상의 세계에서 새로운 것을 창조하려는 초현실주의를 가장 효과적으로 표현하였음을 알 수 있었다. 오브제화는 몽상적이 10%의 비율로써, 대체적으로 오브제의 사용과 화려한 색상을 사용한 환상적 디자인 형태로 나타났다. 무생물과 자연물이 2.8%, 2.6%로 비슷하게 관찰되었으며, 동·식물의 소재를 이용한 기법은 바디아트 표현요소에서 색채와 오브제의 요소가 결합되어 경연감이 돋보이는 이미지를 표현하였다. 바디아트 표현요소별 초현실주의 표현기법의 분석에서는 인체의 응용과 형태가 45.6%의 높은 비율이 나타났으며, 그 다음 색채에서도 인체의 응용이 38.7%로 관찰 되었다. 오브제에서는 초현실주의 오브제화가 69.3%로 나타났으며 각 표현 요소별로 연관성을 띄었다. 바디아트 디자인에 나타난 초현실주의 표현기법 요목 분석 결과를 토대로 초현실주의 미적 특성을 우연성, 환상성, 해학성, 상징성으로 분류할 수 있었다. 초현실주의 우연성은 전혀 관계없는 일상의 재료를 오브제로 응용하거나, 물감을 던지고 뿌리는 액션페인팅 기법을 인체에 도입하여 인간의 잠재적인 욕망을 표현하고, 배경과 인체를 동화시켜 추상적으로 표현함으로써 우연의 법칙을 나타내고 있다. 환상성은 트롱프뢰유, 데페이즈망, 인체에 서로 다른 패턴 및 오브제의 결합 등을 연출하여 현실 세계와 다른 신비감을 표출하고 있다. 예술가들은 상상력의 세계에 흥미를 느끼고 표현하고자 하는 이미지를 인체에 형상화 시킴으로써 바디아트 디자인적 표현에서는 오브제와 색상을 통한 신비로움이 시각적으로 전달되었다. 해학성은 예술가의 생각과 의도를 작품에 담아 전달하는 방법으로 인체의 응용기법과 트롱프뢰유, 오브제화의 기법을 통해 대중들에게 신선함과 즐거움을 선사하였다. 특히 바디아트 디자인에 있어 기발함과 차별화된 시도로 색상을 통해 보여주는 형태가 또 하나의 조형예술로 재창조되었음을 알 수 있었다. 상징성은 단순히 대상을 보여주고 새롭게 나타내는 것이 아닌 대상물속에 숨어있는 의미가 인간의 신체를 대상으로 커뮤니케이션의 역할까지 수행하며, 대중들에게 깊은 인상을 전달해주고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과를 통하여 조형예술인 바디아트가 현대예술로의 발전함에 있어 다양한 디자인을 창출하기 위하여 초현실주의 표현기법 뿐만 아니라 넓은 시각과 새로운 생각의 전환을 바탕으로 하는 실험적인 연구가 활발하게 진행되기를 기대한다.| To cope with the modern culture which emphasizes the characteristics, artists seek to differentiate with the unprecedented new design and to administer the artistic value to have the public feel the visual shock and the characteristics of the piece. Especially, body art expresses the human body by the act of art in the flow of modern art in the 21st century that recognizes the human body itself as the artistic object. The body art designs the beauty of the human body depending on the usability of the material in the trend, and artists are creating a more creative art piece by attempting to graft into a new trend of art or integrating with other fields for the creation of new art pieces. Surrealism, among them, is the art trend created after the first World War to break away from society and reality controlled by reason. It uses the surreal expression which adds something that does not exist in reality in the unconscious based on dream and fantasy to aim for the psychological freedom and express the artistic value to create the new artistic image. This study will contemplate on the concept and technique regarding the surrealism, the trend which stimulates the dream and imagination and peculiarly influences the reality, and it will analyze the expressive elements of the body art design and characteristics and expression techniques of surrealism to deduct the artistic characteristics of the surrealism that emerged on body art designs. The purpose of this study is to propose the basic data of the body art design through artistic characteristics of the surrealism deducted based on the analyzations of the utilization of the expression techniques of the surrealism in modern body art pieces, based on the prior considerations. For the analyzation of the body art designs, the art piece images were selected through the number of media, including books, professional magazines, and professional websites. The result of the analyzation of expression elements of body arts and surrealistic expression technique of 529 pieces that show significant characteristics of the body art is as follows. In terms of the Trompe-l’oeil, the ratio of the ambiguity of the space was the highest, recording 13%, and the next design that emerged the second-most frequently was the embodiment of the human body, recording 7.6%; other techniques, including the similarity of the shape, were observed. The patterning of the human body comprised low mere 4.3%, but, arguably, this design is the one that expresses the characteristics of the abstract and urrealistic image most significantly. In terms of the application of the human body, the concealment of thehuman body recorded the highest ratio of 18.1%, and the cross analysis between body art expression element showed that there is a correlation at the characteristics of the color by 22.4%. Additionally, transformation, exposure, and transposition of the human body were observed. In terms of the d?paysment technique, the fusion of the human body recorded the highest ratio of 5.7%, and the synthesis of two materials were observed at the 4.2% ratio. The unfamiliar space arrangement was 4.7%, and the change in the size recorded 0.8%. Although the ratio of this technique was low, this was the most effective form of expression of the surrealism, which creates a new thing in the world of fantasy. In terms of the Objet-making, the dreaming atmosphere recorded the 10% ratio, and generally, it was shown as the fantastic form of design using the Objet and brilliant colors. The inanimate object and natural object were detected similarly at 2.8% and 2.6%, and the technique using the subject matter of animals and plants combined with color and Objet elements in the expression elements of the body art to express the image with the significant texture. In terms of the expression technique analyzation per expression element of the body art, the application and shape of the human body recorded the ratio of 45.6%. In terms of the color, the application of the human body was observed to be 38.7%. In terms of the Objet, the surrealistic Objet-making was shown as 69.3%, and each expression element showed correlation. Based on the analysis resort of technique point of the surrealism that appeared in the body art design, the artistic characteristics of the surrealism was categorized into the coincidence, fantasy, humor, and symbolism. The coincidence of the surrealism expresses the latent desire of human by adopting action painting technique which throws and scatter the paint to the human body or applies the everyday materials that are completely unrelated as the Objet, and it assimilates the human body into the background, to express the law of coincidence. The fantasy directs techniques such as Trompe-L’oeil, d?paysment, and fusing different patterns and Objet to the human body to express the mystique sensation that is different from the real world. Artists are intrigued by the world of imagination and embody the image they seek to express to the human body, allowing the body art design expressions to convey the mystique sensation through Objet and color visually. The humor is the method which places the thoughts and intention of the artist into the piece, and it grants the joy and freshness to the public through techniques such as human body application, Trompe-L’oeil, and Objet-making. Notably, in the body art design, the form which shows the message by the novel idea and differentiated attempts is recreated as another form of plastic arts. Symbolism is not merely a process of showing an object and re-materializing it, but it also serves to communicate the hidden meaning in the Objet, targeting the human body, delivering a deep impression to the public. Through the outcome of this study, it is expected that artists of the body art actively conduct experimental research based not only on the surrealistic expression techniques but also on the new perspective and the shift of thinking to create a various design, thus developing as the strain of modern art.
