멘델스존 《첼로 소나타 1번, Op.45》 분석 연구

Abstract

낭만주의 작곡가 중 실내악에 대한 꾸준한 관심으로 가장 많은 작품을 남긴 멘델스존(Felix Mendelssohn Bartoldy, 1809-1847)은 1838년과 1843년에 첼로 소나타를 작곡하였다. 성숙기와 완숙기에 작곡된 두 개의 첼로 소나타는 모두 멘델스존의 음악적 깊이를 잘 드러내고 있다. 본 논문에서는 아직 국내에서 연구가 미비한 《첼로 소나타 1번, Op.45》를 중점적으로 분석 연구하였다. 멘델스존의 《첼로 소나타 1번》은 전체적으로 경쾌하고 화려한 밝은 에너지가 담긴 작품이다. 이 작품은 3악장 구성으로 제1악장은 소나타 형식, 제2악장과 제3악장은 3부 형식이다. 제1악장에서는 B♭장조의 밝고 진취적인 선율이 나타난다. 제2주제에서 딸림조가 아닌 3도 아래인 d단조로 등장하는데 이것은 전통적인 소나타 형식에서 벗어난 조성관계로 배치하여 낭만적인 자유로움이 드러난다. 제2악장은 3부 형식으로 소나타 형식 중 느린 악장에 속하지만 부점리듬과 스타카토를 사용하여 우아하면서도 장난스러운 느낌이 특징이며 각 부분은 후반부로 갈수록 마디수가 크게 확장되는 형태를 보인다. 제3장에서는 제1악장과의 유기적 관계가 나타나는 것을 볼 수 있다. 제1악장의 모티브ⓐ와 ⓑ의 리듬적 요소가 제3악장 주제선율에서 등장하고, 제1악장 제2주제의 조성과 디자인이 제3악장 [B]의 B부분에서 유사하게 나타난다. 멘델스존의 《첼로 소나타 1번》은 고전시대와 낭만시대의 특징을 모두 가지고 있다. 고전시대의 전통적인 형식과 스트레토의 사용으로 대위법적인 짜임새가 견고하게 나타나고, 주제의 자유로운 조성관계, 잦은 반음계와 비화성음, 장단조 혼용 등의 사용은 낭만시대의 특징을 가진다. 이 작품을 기반으로 1843년에 확장된 규모와 높은 수준의 기교적 특징을 가진 《첼로 소나타 2번》이라는 명곡이 탄생하게 된다. 결론적으로 멘델스존의 《첼로 소나타 1번》은 베토벤 이후 첼로를 독주 악기로 사용하여 말년에 새로운 시도를 했다고 볼 수 있으나 성숙기에 작곡된 만큼 완성도가 높으며, 멘델스존의 첫 번째 첼로 소나타로서의 가치와 중요도를 가진 작품임을 알 수 있다.

|Among the Romantic composers, Felix Mendelssohn Bartoldy, who left the most works with a steady interest in chamber music, composed cello sonatas in 1838 and 1843. The two cello sonatas, both composed in maturity and maturity, both reveal Mendelssohn's musical depth well. In this paper, Cello Sonata No.1, Op.45, which has yet to be studied in Korea, was analyzed and studied intensively. Mendelssohn's Cello Sonata No.1 is a work of cheerful and colorful bright energy. This piece is composed of three movements: the first movement is in the form of a sonata and the second and third movement is in the form of three parts. The first movement features a bright and enterprising melody from the B major. In the second topic, it appears in D minor, which is not in the tautology but below 3 degrees, which is placed in a composition relationship that deviates from the traditional Sonata format, revealing romantic freedom. The second movement belongs to the slow movement of the sonata form in the three-part form, but it is characterized by an elegant yet playful feeling by using a double-jump rhythm and staccato, and each part has a form in which the number of joints expand greatly in the second half. Chapter 3 shows the organic relationship with the first movement. The rhythmic elements of the motifa and b of the first movement appeared in the theme melody of the third movement, and the composition and design of the second theme of the first movement are similar in part B of the third movement [B]. Mendelssohn's Cello Sonata No.1 has both classical and romantic characteristics. The traditional form of the classical period and the use of the stretto make the anti-collateralized structure appear solid, and the use of the free composition relationship of the subject, frequent semi-note scale, non-flammable sound, and the combination of long and short key are characteristic of the Romantic era. Based on this work, the masterpiece Cello Sonata No.2 was born in 1843 with an expanded scale and high level of technical features. In conclusion, Mendelssohn's Cello Sonata No.1 was a new attempt in his later years using the cello as a solo instrument after Beethoven, but it is highly mature as it was composed in its mature years, and has value and importance as Mendelssohn's first cello sonata.
