만 4세 바다반 유아 리더의 특성에 관한 문화기술적 연구

Abstract

본 연구에서는 만 4세반에서 일어나는 자유놀이상황에서의 놀이를 주도하는 유아 리더가 어떠한 특성을 가지고 있으며 또래와 어떻게 상호작용하는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 이러한 연구를 통하여 만 4세반을 지도하는 교사에게 유아의 놀이상황 및 놀이를 이끄는 유아 리더의 특성 및 역할을 이해함으로써 만 4세반의 또래와 상호작용을 지원할 수 있는 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 본 연구에서 설정한 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 1. 또래와의 상호작용에서 나타나는 만 4세 유아 리더의 특성은 어떠한가? 본 연구는 서울시에 위치한 A유치원의 만 4세반에서 이루어졌다. 연구 대상은 유아 리더 선정 과정을 통해 선정된 3명의 유아 리더이다. 본 연구는 2007년 10월 15일부터 2007년 12월 13일까지 총 23회 참여관찰과 총 5회의 교사면담을 통해 이루어졌다. 연구자는 참여 관찰, 심층 면담, 현장 약기, 녹음을 하여 자료를 수집하였고, 현장 약기와 녹음한 내용을 바탕으로 전사본을 만들었다. 수집된 사례는 Bogdan과 Biklen(1992)이 제시한 대로 부호화하고 범주화한 후 분석하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 본 연구에서 리더의 유형은 협력하고 이끄는 리더, 명령하고 지시하는 리더, 보호하고 배려하는 리더의 세 가지로 나타났으며 이들의 특성은 각각 다르게 나타났다. 첫째, 한은호의 협력하고 이끄는 리더이다. 은호는 놀이 상황에서 놀이를 효율적으로 이끌어가기 위해 새로운 놀이 방법이나 규칙을 제안하여 놀이 구성원들이 한 가지 놀이를 가지고도 다양한 방법으로 놀이를 즐길 수 있도록 창의적인 힘을 발휘해 놀이를 이끄는 유아이다. 또한, 놀이 할 때 책임감을 가지고 한 영역을 이끌고, 다른 유아들의 감정을 존중하는 마음을 가지고 마음이 상하지 않도록 하면서 놀이를 주도해 나간다. 은호의 놀이 특성은 자유선택 활동에서 놀이 시 제안하기를 사용하여, 또래 유아들을 놀이 참여자로 끌어들이고 놀이를 주도하는 ‘놀이 방법 및 규칙 제안하기’, 여럿이 놀이하는 놀이 영역 안에서 일어나는 것에 대해 책임감을 가지고, 다른 유아들의 의견을 존중하고 받아들임으로써 효율적으로 놀이를 이끄는 ‘통솔력을 발휘해 다함께 놀이하기’, 자신이 처한 상황에 대해 인지하고, 놀이 흐름과 분위기를 파악하여 놀이를 활성화시키는 ‘상황파악능력을 이용해 융통성 발휘하기’로 나타났다. 둘째, 황수호의 명령하고 지시하는 리더이다. 수호는 자유선택 활동 시간에 다른 유아들과 놀이할 때 또래들에게 명령하거나 거친 행동을 자주 사용하는 모습을 보였다. 이런 수호의 행동은 다른 유아들에게 거부감을 줄 것 같았지만 관찰 결과는 의외로 나타났다. 수호는 다른 유아들에 비해 지식의 폭이 넓어 아는 것이 많았고, 다양한 정보를 화제 거리로 가지고 있었다. 이런, 수호의 모습에 호감을 느낀 다른 유아들은 수호를 중심으로 놀이를 형성하였고, 그 속에서 표현되는 수호의 거친 행동, 강압적인 말투 또한 수용하였다. 수호의 놀이 특성으로는 지시, 명령, 소리치기 등의 힘이나 협박이 내재된 언어를 사용하는 ‘강압적인 언어 사용하기’, 또래와 게임을 하거나 공동 작업을 수행할 때면 늘 자신이 이기고 싶어 함으로써 자신이 다른 유아들보다 우위의 위치에 있다고 생각하는 ‘게임은 언제나 내가 이긴다!’, 또래 유아들 보다 지식의 폭이 넓어 자신이 알고 있는 사전 지식을 놀이에 적용시키는 ‘풍부한 지식으로 다른 유아들의 관심 끌기’로 나타났다. 셋째, 채소은의 보호하고 배려하는 리더이다. 소은이는 자유선택 활동 시간에 놀이할 때 다른 유아들을 대할 때 부드러운 말투를 사용하고, 따뜻한 웃음을 자주 보여주었는데 이러한 따뜻한 웃음은 다른 유아들과의 관계에서 편안하고 긍정적인 안정감을 갖게 하는 것 같았다. 소은이는 평소에 다른 유아들을 유심히 관찰하고, 다른 유아가 도움을 필요로 할 때 먼저 다가가 도움을 준다. 또한, 다른 유아와 일상적인 이야기 하는 것을 즐긴다. 이런 모습들은 타인에게 관심을 가짐으로써 성공적인 놀이를 이끌기 위한 한 방법이라고 해석될 수 있으며, 소은이의 이런 행동들을 통해 소은이는 다른 유아들을 배려하면서도 리더십을 발휘하는 모습을 보였다. 배려하는 리더인 소은이의 놀이 특성으로는 또래들과 놀이하다가 놀이 상황에서 갈등이 발생했을 때 원활한 놀이를 진행시키기 위한 ‘침착하게 갈등상황 해결하기’, 또래보다 언어적 능력이 뛰어나고 유치원 생활에 익숙하여 또래 유아들을 마치 교사처럼 가르치는 ‘교사 같은 행동 ? 교사 같은 말투’, 역할 놀이 시 가장 지위가 높은 역할을 상징하여 놀이를 이끌고 다른 유아들에게 영향을 미치는 ‘엄마’ 역할을 자주 맡는 ‘엄마 역할은 늘 소은이 차지!’로 나타났다.|This study was intended to examine the characteristics of a child leader who led a play in a free play situation occurred among 4 year old children and how the child leader interacted with children. Also, by understanding the play situation and the characteristics & role of child leader leading the play through this study, this study was intended to provide the basic material to support the interaction with children aged 4 to a teacher who taught 4 year old children. In this study, the problem of the study is followed. 1. What are the characteristics of 4 year-old leaders shown in the interaction with their peers? For the study, the class of 4 year old children at 'A' kindergarten located in Seoul was selected. The object of the study was 3 child leaders selected through the child leader selection process. Through study was conducted through total 23 participatory observations and 5 teacher interviews from October 15, 2007 to December 13, 2007. Through the participatory observation, in-depth interview, brief sketch of the field and recording, data were collected, and then a transcript was made based on the brief sketch of the field and recorded contents. Collected data were encoded, categorized and analyzed as specified by Bogdan and Biklen(1992). The results of the study are described as follows. In this study, the types of the leader are the cooperative and guiding leader, the commanding and directive leader, and the protective and ring leader. Their characteristics were different respectively. First, Han, Eun-ho was the cooperative and guiding leader. He suggests a new play method or rule to lead the play efficiently in the play situation and leads the play with his creative power in order for children to enjoy the play by various methods even in one play. Also, he led one part with the responsibility during the play and led the play through respecting them without hurting their hearts. As the play characteristics of Han Eunho, there were 'Suggesting the play method and rule' to induce children to the play and lead the play by using the suggesting method during the play in the free choice activity, 'Playing together by leadership' to lead the play efficiently by respecting and accepting other children's opinions with the responsibility for the situation occurred in the play area, and 'Showing flexibility using the ability of identifying the situation' to activate the play by recognizing the faced situation and identifying the play flow and atmosphere. Second, Hwang, Su-ho was the commanding and directive leader. He frequently commanded children or used a tough behavior when he played with other children during the free choice activity. Such his behavior seemed to give aversion to other children, but the result was unexpected. Compared with other children, he had more knowledge and had various information as the topic. Accordingly, children who had good feeling on Hwang Suho formed the play centering on him, and accepted his tough behavior and oppressive way of talking. As the play characteristics of Hwang Suho, there were 'Using the oppressive language' to use the power of instruction, command and shouting or the threatening way of talking, 'Winning the game always' to consider that he had a higher position than other children because he wanted to win the game during the game or a joint play, and 'Stimulating children's interest with knowledge' to apply his knowledge to the play because he had more knowledge than other children. Third, Chae, So-eun was the protective and ring leader. She used a soft tone's way of talking and showed her warm smile when she played or talked during the free choice activity. Such her warm smile seemed to have a comfortable and positive feeling in the relationship with other children. She carefully observed other children and helped when any one of children needed the help. Also, she enjoyed talking with children. Such the behavior seemed to be considered as one method for leading the successful play with interests in others. Through her behaviors, it was indicated that she showed her leadership caring other children. As the play characteristics of Chae Soeun, there were 'Solving a complication calmly' to lead the play smoothly when the complication occurred during the play, 'Acting and talking like the teacher' to teach children like the teacher because she had the excellent language ability and was familiar to the kindergarten's life, and 'Taking the role of mom always' to lead the play with the highest position and to play the role of mom affecting other children during the role play.
