대학수학능력시험 외국어영역 내용 타당도 분석

Abstract

본 연구는 1994년부터 2004년까지의 대학수학능력시험 외국어영역을 듣기·말하기, 읽기·쓰기, 문법, 어휘의 내용타당도를 분석하였으며, 지난 11년간의 수능시험 문제를 기초로 읽기·쓰기영역의 유형(tasks)과 측정요소(sub-skills)를 구분하여 각각의 유형 및 측정요소에 대한 내용 타당도를 재고하는데 목적이 있다. 분석결과 듣기 및 말하기 평가에서는 지나치게 느린 속도와 낮은 문제 비율이 타당도를 낮추는 요인이었으며, 말하기를 간접적으로 평가한다는 점도 타당도를 재고하게 했다. 읽기 및 쓰기평가에서는 내용타당도가 낮은 유형과 측정요소, 선택지의 질적인 문제, 지시문과 선택지의 언어문제, 한정된 소재가 내용 타당도를 떨어뜨리는 요인으로 작용하였다. 쓰기 평가에서도 역시 수험자의 쓰기능력을 간접적으로 평가한다는 점이 내용 타당도를 낮추는 요인 중 하나였다. 문법평가에 있어서는 의사소통의 기능을 위한 문법이 아니라 지나치게 문법만을 위한 문법을 평가한다는 점에서 내용 타당도가 떨어졌다. 어휘력 평가에서도 마찬가지로 유형이 '사전뜻풀이 유형' 1가지로 고정되어 수험자가 수험전략을 세울 수 있다는 점에서 내용 타당도를 재고하게 한다. 따라서 수능은 본 연구의 분석결과를 기초로 타당한 시험 유형 및 측정요소의 개발, 선택지의 질적인 문제 향상, 듣기·말하기 평가 문항 비율 확대 및 속도를 향상시키고 말하기 및 쓰기평가에 대한 새로운 시험 도구를 개발해야 할 것이다.|The purpose of this study is to analyze the content validity of English tests in the College Scholastic Ability Test(CSAT) from 1994 to 2004 and suggest new approaches in the future. This study conducted an analysis of conversation speeds, sub-skills, functions, situations, readability on listening and speaking tests. It is conducted to analyze tasks, sub-skills, topics, and readability in the reading and writing tests. An analysis of vocabulary includes tasks and readability, and for grammar, includes items, tasks, and readability. The results are as follows. First, slow conversation speeds, the small number of questions in comparison with reading, and an indirect test in speaking were the factors which affect the content validity in listening and speaking tests. Second, tasks and sub-skills which have low content validity, the quality of choices, the language of choices which is written in the mother language even though they were simple, and limited topics decreased the content validity in reading and writing tests. Third, when there is only one task, finding meaning in a dictionary, helps to build strategies for test takers in vocabulary tests. Fourth, grammar tests did not focus on communication skills. Therefore, it is necessary to provide choices of good quality, have a variety of topics covering natural science and practical passages, tasks and sub-skills which have high content validity. In addition, it is necessary to increase the total number of listening questions used in tests, conversation speeds, and develop new testing methods for speaking tests.
