내현적 자기애성향이 우울에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구에서는 내현적 자기애성향, 인지적 정서조절전략, 우울간의 관계를 살펴보고, 내현적 자기애성향이 우울에 미치는 영향에서 인지적 정서조절전략의 매개효과를 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 서울 및 수도권 소재 대학교에 재학 중인 남ㆍ여 학생 375명이었으며, 측정 도구로는 내현적 자기애 척도(Covert Narcissism Scale), 인지적 정서조절전략 질문지(Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire), Beck 우울 척도(Beck Depression Inventory)가 사용되었다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 내현적 자기애성향이 높을수록 우울감이 높고, 적응적인 인지적 정서조절전략을 적게 사용하는 반면, 부적응적인 인지적 정서조절전략을 많이 사용하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 적응적인 인지적 정서조절전략을 많이 사용할수록 우울이 감소하고, 부적응적인 인지적 정서조절전략을 많이 사용할수록 우울이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 내현적 자기애성향이 우울에 미치는 영향에서 인지적 정서조절전략을 적응적인 전략과 부적응적인 전략으로 구분하여 각각의 매개효과를 검증한 결과, 적응적인 전략은 부적으로 부분매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 부적응적인 전략은 정적으로 부분매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 내현적 자기애성향, 인지적 정서조절전략, 우울에서 성별에 따른 차이를 추가적으로 검증한 결과, 내현적 자기애성향, 부적응적인 인지적 정서조절전략 중 반추 및 우울이 여성에게서 보다 높게 나타났다. 위와 같은 결과를 중심으로 본 연구의 의의와 한계, 후속연구를 위한 제언을 논의하였다.| ABSTRACT

The Mediating Effects of Cognitive-Emotional Regulation between Covert Narcissism on Depression

The purpose of the this study was to examine the effects of covert narcissism on depression and the role of the Cognitive Emotion Regulation in the relationships between covert narcissism and depression. The subjects were 375 undergraduate students recruited from the Metropolitan Seoul city. They were asked to complete the questionnaires of Covert Narcissism Scale, Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, and Beck Depression Inventory.

The results were as follows: First, there was a statistically significant positive correlations between the covert narcissism and depression. There was also negative correlation between covert narcissism and adaptive cognitive-emotional regulation strategies. Covert narcissism, however, showed a positive relationship with maladaptive cognitive-emotional regulation strategies. In addition, the level of depression showed the statistically significant negative-correlation with adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies, and positive-correlation with maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies. Second, the adaptive cognitive-emotional regulation strategies showed the statistically significant partial negative-mediating effect but the maladaptive cognitive-emotional regulation strategies showed the statistically significant partial positive-mediating effect between covert narcissism and depression. Third, there were a statistically significant gender differences in terms of covert narcissism, rumination of maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies and depression. For example, women showed more severe levels of covert narcissism, rumination and depression than those of men.

Based on the finding, the some implications and limitations of the study were discussed along with suggestions for further research.
