기억의 재구성을 통한 풍경 표현 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 나의 개인적인 과거의 기억을 소재로 화면 속 길과 자욱한 안개를 통해 목적지를 잃은 현대인들의 모습을 시각화하는 것에 관한 연구이다. 나는 안개에 대한 실제 경험을 통해 나의 기억 속의 풍경을 다시 떠올리고 재조합하여 새로운 풍경으로 만들어 내면서 기억이 가지고 있는 모호함과 현대인의 심리 사이의 유사성을 표현하고자 했다. 나는 과거의 경험을 바탕으로 안개 속 데자뷔와 같은 상태를 그린다. 그 경험이란 예컨대 비현실적인 현실이라 할 수 있겠다. 한 치 앞도 잘 보이지 않아 앞에 있는 사람이 누구인지, 더 나아가 무엇이 있는지에 대한 궁금증과 함께 물리적으로 시각이 차단되었다는 사실이 나의 공포심을 자극했다. 그리고 그 속에서의 경험은 ‘안개’라는 소재를 나의 그림에 가져오도록 했다. 내 눈에 비친 현대인들은 작금의 사회 속에서 본인의 목표를 잃고 흘러가는 시간에 몸을 맡긴 채 반복되는 일상을 살아가는 경향이 있다. 소외감과 혐오, 코로나로 인해 높아진 실업률, 그에 따른 우울증과 같은 다양한 사회 문제들과 함께 말이다. 그 속에서 불확실한 삶에 불안함을 가지고 본인이 무엇을 향해 걸어가고 있었는지에 대한 모호함을 안고 살아가는 모습처럼 보인다. 나는 이러한 혼란스러운 사회 속에서 살아가는 나 자신과 현대인들의 모습을 그림으로 솔직하게 드러내고자 한다. 나는 기억에 의해 재조합된 풍경과 안개의 모호함을 통해 불확실한 현실을 나타내고, 눈에 보이지 않는 현대인의 심리를 ‘끝이 보이지 않는 길’로 표현하였다. 이는 목적지를 잃은 현대인의 애매모호함과 멜랑꼴리(melancholy)를 시각화한 것이다. 나는 본 논문이 혼란스러운 현대인들의 감정과 심리에 대해 이해하고 공감할 수 있는 시작점이 되기를 바란다. 안개가 자욱한 풍경을 통해 나는 잠시나마 일상에서의 불안과 조급함에서 벗어나 해방감을 느낄 수 있는 공간으로써의 도피처를 제시하고, 관람자가 스스로 기억 속의 풍경을 떠올리고 추억을 되짚는 과정에서 위로와 공감을 얻기를 바란다. 또한 나는 기억에 의존해 조합, 변형하여 만들어 낸 풍경을 드로잉과 회화로 표현한 만큼 각각의 기법과 현대인의 심리 사이의 연관성을 찾아 이를 선명하게 시각화하는 방식을 발전시켜 향후 지속할 작품 활동에 기반을 삼고자 한다.|This paper is a study on visualizing the images of modern people who have lost their destinations through the roads and thick fog on the screen based on their personal memories. Through my actual experience with fog, I tried to express the similarity between the ambiguity of memory and the psychology of modern people by reminding and recombining the landscape in my memory into a new landscape. I draw a state like a deja vu in fog based on past experiences. The experience, for example, can be said to be an unrealistic reality. The fact that my vision was physically blocked along with questions about who was in front of me because I couldn't see an inch ahead, and furthermore, what was there, stimulated my fear. And the experience in it made me bring the subject of 'fog' to my painting. In my eyes, modern people tend to lose their goals in the current society and live a repetitive daily life with their bodies entrusted to the passing time. This is along with various social problems such as alienation and disgust, the increased unemployment rate due to COVID-19, and the resulting depression. In it, it seems that he is living with anxiety about his uncertain life and ambiguity about what he was walking toward. I want to honestly reveal myself and modern people living in this confusing society through pictures. I expressed the uncertain reality through the ambiguity of the landscape and fog recombined by memory, and the psychology of modern people, which is invisible to the eye, as a 'path with no end in sight'. This visualizes the ambiguity and melancholy of modern people who have lost their destination. I hope that this paper will serve as a starting point for understanding and empathizing with the emotions and psychology of the confused modern people. Through the foggy landscape, I present a place to escape from anxiety and impatience in daily life for a while, and I hope that viewers will get comfort and empathy in the process of recalling the scenery in their memories and recounting their memories. In addition, as I expressed the scenery created by combining and transforming it based on memory through drawing and painting, I would like to develop a method of clearly visualizing the connection between each technique and the psychology of modern people and build a foundation for future work activities.
