고대 이집트 메이크업과 1960년대 메이크업 상관관계 연구

Abstract

초기 인류의 화장은 어떤 의미였을까? 고대로부터 동·서양을 막론하고 자연에 대한 숭배 의식과 인간의 죽음에 대한 의식이 행해졌고, 이러한 의식들로 인해 인간은 화장을 하기 시작했다. 고대의 화장은 종교적 특성이 압축된 정신성의 표현이었다고 볼 수 있다. 이러한 화장의 역사 속에서 고대 이집트인들의 화장 문화는 역사적 가치를 지녔으며, 그들은 가장 특징적인 눈 화장법을 고안하였다. 고대 이집트인들의 눈 화장의 의미는 신과 닮기 위함이었으며, 건조하고 더운 이집트의 기후를 견디기 위한 최선의 방법이었다. 이러한 의미를 가진 고대 이집트인들의 눈 화장법은 혼란과 격변의 시대인 1960년대에 영화 <클레오파트라(Cleopatra)>로 사람들에게 재조명 되었다. 당시 1960년대는 산업혁명으로 인해 대중매체가 발달 되었고, 그 결과 대중문화가 급속도로 발전을 이루던 시기였다. 이 영화의 인기로 대중문화 전반에 이집티언 룩(Egyptian Look)이 나타났고, 여성들은 자신만의 스타일로 고대 이집트 눈 화장을 하게 되었다. 이는 고대 이집트의 눈 화장법이 1960년대 여성들에게는 다른 의미였음을 알 수 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 두 시대에 나타난 고대 이집트 눈 화장법의 의미와 상관관계를 비교 연구하였으며, 화장의 역사상 가장 상징적인 의미를 가진 눈 화장법에 대해 고찰해 보았다.|Which meaning was there in the early make-up of mankind? From ancient times, regardless of the East and the West, worship ceremony for nature and ceremony for the death of human beings have been performed. And, because of these ceremonies, human beings started to make up. Make-up of ancient times may be regarded as the expression of spirituality that religious feature was compressed. In this make-up history, make-up culture of ancient Egyptians had historical value, and they devised the most characteristic eye make-up. Meaning of eye make-up of ancient Egyptians was for resembling God, and it was the best method for enduring dry and hot Egypt climate. Eye make-up of ancient Egyptians which has this meaning was illuminated again to people with movie <Cleopatra> in 1960s which was the period of confusion and upheaval. 1960s was the period that mass media developed by Industrial Revolution and mass culture developed rapidly as the result. By the popularity of this movie, Egyptian Look appeared over the whole of mass culture, and women came to do the eye make-up of ancient Egypt with their own style. This enables us to know that eye make-up of ancient Egypt had different meaning to the women in 1960s. In this thesis, this researcher compared and studied the correlation of eye make-up of ancient Egypt which appeared in these two periods and studied eye make-up which had the most symbolic meaning in the history of make-up.
