가정어린이집 실외놀이 자원봉사자로 참여한 어머니들의 경험

Abstract

본 연구는 가정 어린이집 영아반 실외놀이 활동에 자원봉사자로 참여한 어머니들의 참여 동기는 어떠하며, 실외놀이 활동에 대한 부모의 경험과 어머니들이 자원봉사를 통해 느끼는 보람은 무엇인지를 탐색하는 것이다. 본 연구 목적에 따라 설정된 연구문제는 다음과 같다.

첫째, 가정어린이집 실외놀이 활동에 자원봉사자로 참여한 어머니들의 동기는 어떠한가? 둘째, 가정어린이집 실외놀이 활동에 자원봉사자로 참여한 어머니들의 실외놀이에 대한 경험은 어떠한가? 셋째, 가정어린이집 실외놀이 활동에 자원봉사자로 참여한 어머니들이 자원봉사자로서 느끼는 보람은 어떠한가?

본 연구의 참여자는 경기도 N시에 소재한 가정어린이집인 E어린이집에 재원중인 원아 어머니 7명이다. E어린이집 실외놀이 활동에 자원봉사자로 부모들의 경험을 알아보고자 E어린이집 학부모를 대상으로 연구 참여자를 모집하였으며, 자료 수집은 참여관찰과 심층면담을 통해 이루어졌다. 참여관찰은 2014년 9월 22일부터 2014년 12월 22일까지 3개월 동안 실외놀이 활동이 진행되는 시간에 실시하였다. 심층면담은 개별면담과 집단면담으로 나누어 실시하였다. 개별면담은 자원봉사 활동을 시작하기 전과 후 20-30분으로, 자원봉사 활동 참여가 있을 때 마다 실시하였으며 집단면담은 자원봉사활동 시작 전과 후(2회)에 실시하였다. 자료수집에 대한 객관성을 확보하고자 사진을 촬영하고, 모든 면담의 내용은 녹음하여 전사하였으며 수집된 자료는 반복하여 읽으면서 범주화하여 분석하였다. 이와 같은 과정을 통해 나타난 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다.

첫째, 가정어린이집 실외놀이 활동에 자원봉사자로 참여한 어머니들은 어린이집 생활에 자녀와 함께 참여하면서 자녀의 어린이집 생활에 대한 궁금증을 해결할 수 있는 기회가 된다고 생각하여 참여하게 되었다고 하였다. 또한 자원봉사자로 참여하게 되면 공식적이고 지속적인 참여를 통해 자유로운 어린이집 출입이 가능할 것이라는 생각으로 참여를 하게 되었으며 자원봉사 활동에 자신이 참여하지 않으면 자신의 자녀가 소외감을 느낄 것 같다는 생각에서 실외놀이 자원봉사에 참여하였다.

둘째, 어머니들은 실외놀이 자원봉사를 통해 실외놀이는 산책을 통해 자연스럽게 자연을 접하는 시간이고, 교사와 또래와의 상호작용을 통해 언어적 발달 및 사회성 발달이 촉진되는 시간이며 배움의 시간이라는 것을 알게 되었다고 하였다. 또한 실외놀이는 자녀들이 즐거워하나 안전에 대한 염려가 공존하는 시간이며, 실외놀이 지도에 대한 교사의 어려움을 공감하는 시간도 되었다고 하였다.

셋째, 실외놀이 자원봉사자로 참여한 어머니들은 내 아이의 선생님이라는 즐거움과 자녀 친구들의 선생님이 되어 본다는 점에서 보람을 느꼈으며 자녀와 또래 친구들의 행동 특성과 발달에 대해 이해하는 시간도 가질 수 있어서 뜻 깊은 시간이 되었다고 하였다. 또한 실외놀이 활동에 자녀와 함께 참여하면서 자연에 대한 새로운 발견을 하고, 자연환경에서 느끼는 여유로움과 정서적 안정감을 느끼는 시간이었다고 하였다. |ABSTRACT

Experience of Volunteering Mothers in Outdoor Plays at Home Daycare Center

This study explores the participation motives of mothers who volunteered for outdoor play activities with an infant class of a home daycare center, the experiences of parents in outdoor play activities, and their feeling of reward from volunteering. The research questions proposed by the purpose of the study are as follows:

First, what are the motives of mothers who volunteered for outdoor play activities in the home daycare center?

Second, what are the experiences of mothers who volunteered for outdoor play activities in the home daycare center?

Third, what are the rewarding feeling of mothers who volunteered for outdoor play activities in the home daycare center?

Participants of this study include 7 mothers of children in E home daycare center in N city, Gyeonggi-do. Participants were recruited out of the parents of children in E home daycare center to examine the experiences of volunteering parents in outdoor play activities in E home daycare center, and data were collected from participation observations and in-depth interviews. Participation observations were carried out during outdoor play activities for 3 months, from September 22, 2014 to December 22, 2014. In-depth interviews were divided into individual interviews and group interviews. Individual interviews were carried out between 20-30 minutes before and after every participation in volunteering activities, and group interviews before and after volunteering activities (total 2 interviews). For the sake of objectivity of data collection, we took photos, recorded and transcribed all interviews, and categorized and analyzed the data while repeatedly reading them.

The major results of the research procedure are as follows:

First, the volunteered mothers who volunteered for outdoor play activities in the home daycare center answered that they participated because it would help find their curiosity about their children's lives in the daycare while they participate in the life of daycare together with their children. They also thought they would be able to visit the daycare more freely through official and continuous participation if they volunteer and participate, and they decided to join the volunteering because their children might feel left out if they did not volunteer.

Second, they answered they learned, through volunteering for outdoor play activities, that their children can naturally experience the nature while walking outside and linguistic development and social development are promoted through interactions with the teachers and peers. In addition, they found that enjoyment of children and worries about safety coexist during the outdoor plays, and also could sympathize with the difficulties of teachers who supervise outdoor plays.

Third, the volunteering mothers in the outdoor plays felt rewards from happiness of being teachers of their own children and teachers of their children's friends, and they found it meaningful that they could understand behavior characteristics and development of their children and their peers. They also answered that they could make new discoveries about t도 nature and feel relaxation and emotional stability while they participated in outdoor play activities.
