M. Ravel 과 J. Ibert 의 가곡 「Don Quichotte」의 분석 연구

Abstract

19c말~20c초 시기의 유럽은 제 1차 세계대전과 제2차 세계대전으로 인해 사회가 급진적으로 변하면서 구질서의 붕괴로 대격변의 시대가 시작 되었다. 예술도 이런 변화에 맞춰서 내면적인 세계의 존재를 내세우는 여러 가지 주장들이 대두되면서 인상주의라는 새로운 예술사조가 등장하게 된다. 모리스 라벨(Maurice Ravel, 1875-1937)과 자끄 이베르( Jacques Ibert 1890-1962) 는 이 시기의 작곡가로, 프랑스 인상주의의 영향을 받고 19세기와 20세기의 새로운 음악양식을 구축하여 개방적이고 자유로운 음악형태를 보이는 작곡가들 이다. 두 작곡가 모두 음악에 자유로운 선법, 스페인적인 소재와 다양한 리듬들을 사용한다는 공통점이 있지만, 라벨은 작곡기법에 있어서 이베르 보다 훨씬 보수적인 성향을 보이고 있는 반면, 이베르는 라벨에 비하여 선법, 리듬, 박자의 사용에서 자유로운 성향을 보여준다. M. Ravel과 J.Ibert 의 <Don Quichotte> 작품은 한 영화 프로덕션으로부터 여러 작곡가들에게 ‘세르반테스 의 <돈키호테>’ 영화 버전을 의뢰하면서 만들어지게 되었다. 그중에서 영화음악에 채택된 이베르의 곡과 최근에 가장 많이 연주되는 라벨의 곡을 분석·연구 하려고 한다. 본 논문에서 M. Ravel과 J. Ibert의 <Don Quichotte>를 연구하기 위하여 19세기말에서 20세기 초의 시대상황과 예술사조의 흐름에 대하여 알아보고, 두 작곡가 들이 자주 사용한 스페인 소재를 알아보기 위하여 스페인 음악의 특징과 흐름에 대해서도 살펴보려고 한다. 또한 라벨과 이베르의 생애와 그들의 작품세계를 알아보고 음악의 배경이 된 세르반테스와 그의 소설 <돈키호테> 의 줄거리와 인물분석을 통하여 라 벨과 이베르의 <Don Quichotte>에 인물의 성격이 어떻게 묘사되었는지 이해를 돕고자 한다. 그리고 두 작곡가의 화성적 특징 중 하나인 선법의 종류와 화성에 관하여 알아보고 시를 분석하여 시의 의미와 음악적 관계, 운율, 음악의 형식, 조성, 선법, 화성, 리듬, 성악 성부와 반주와의 음악적 관계 등을 분석하여 두 작곡가의 유사점과 차이점 음악적 어법을 분석 하고 실제 연주에 도움이 되고자 한다.

|Due to WWI and WWII in late 19th century to early 20th century Europe, the society went through rapid change with the collapse of old order and the start of cataclysmic changes. Along with this transformation, the arts also asserted the existence of the inner world and a new form of arts, impressionism appeared. Maurice Ravel (1875-1937) and Jacques Ibert (1890-1962), composers of this period were influenced by French impressionism and established a new musical style in 19th and 20th century that was an open and free musical structure. Both composers have in common that they use a free mode, Spanish subjects and various rhythms, however Ravel was more conservative than Ibert in composing techniques and Ibert showed a more liberal mode, rhythm, and beat. Ravel and Ibert’s <Don Quichotte> was produced for a movie production that requested several composers to compose for the movie version of ‘Cervantes’ Don Quichotte’. From these pieces, this paper will compare and analyze Ibert’s song that was chosen for the movie and the well known and played song by Ravel. For the research of Ravel and Ibert’s <Don Quichotte>, this thesis will study the period and trend of arts of late 19th and early 20th century, and the characteristics and flow of Spanish music to understand the Spanish subjects that the two composers often used. Furthermore, analyze Ravel and Ibert’s life, world of their artworks, Cervantes and the summary of <Don Quichotte> and its characters that became the musical background to help better understand how the character’s personality is described in Ravel and Ibert’s <Don Quichotte>. In addition, look into the two composers’ harmony traits; the type of mode and harmony and analyze the poem for its meaning and relation to the music, metrics, musical structure, tonality, mode, harmony, rhythm, the relationship between the vocals and accompaniment and etc to compare and analyze the similarities and differences of the two composers and their musical style for better performance.
