Johannes Brahms 『Sonata for Piano and Violin in A, Op.100』에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 고전적 이상과 낭만적 정신의 결합을 가장 효과적으로 이룩한 사람으로 평가받고 있는 브람스(Johannes Brahms, 1833~1897)의 실내악 작품 중 이중주 소나타를 대상으로 브람스의 음악에 일반적으로 나타나는 그의 특징적인 작곡기법을 연구하고, 그 실례를 Sonata for Piano and Violin in A major, Op. 100의 분석을 통하여 고찰한 것이다. 이 작품은 브람스가 가곡과 기악곡의 집성(integration)을 본격적으로 시도하기 시작한 시기의 첫 작품으로 여러 가곡과의 연관성을 가지고 있으며, 또한 3악장으로 구성되었으나 제 2악장이 혼합악장의 형태로 4악장 구조의 면모를 지니고 있다는 데 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 브람스는 균형있는 구성과 다양한 변주기법 등의 엄격한 고전주의적 작곡기법을 고수하면서도, 다양한 음색과 자유로운 서정적 선율의 낭만주의 미학을 융합한 작곡가였다. 또한 그는 다른 작곡가들의 음악에 대해 연구하고 자신의 작품에 대해서도 외부의 평가를 적극적으로 수용한 사람으로, 특히 이 작품에서는 브람스 자신의 가곡 뿐 아니라, 다른 작곡가들의 작품과의 연관성도 찾아볼 수 있다.|This paper will be mainly focused on the duo sonata among chamber works composed by Johannes Brahms, and his typical compositional style. Also, the paper will demonstrate that Brahms successfully established the combined concept of classicism and romanticism through the analysis of his Sonata for Piano and Violin in A Major, op.100, in particular. The Sonata for Piano and Violin in A Major, Op. 100, is Brahms's first composition during the time he earnestly tried integrating the lied and instrumental music, and it has a relationship with many other lieder. This sonata consists of three movements, and the second one is in the form of the compound movement. Therefore, it has significance in that this sonata has the structure of four movements in total. Brahms thoroughly studied other composers' music and actively accepted their criticisms of his music. Not only did Brahms strictly adhere to the compositional styles of classicism, such as well-balanced construction and diverse variational techniques, but he also combined the aesthetics of romanticism, such as various tone colors(timbre) and lyrical melodies. Particularly, through Brahms's Sonata for Piano and Violin in A Major, Op. 100, we can find the relationship with his other lieder as well as the connection with other composers' music. Through the process of studying Brahms, this paper is principally focused on his chamber music, one of his specialties. Furthermore, Brahms's career as a composer and the time of his works will be scrutinized as well as the distinctive compositional style that pervaded most of his works. In particular, this paper primarily considers the duo sonata of chamber music and demonstrates all aspects through the analysis of the Sonata for Piano and Violin in A Major, Op. 100, in detail.
