Franz Liszt의 가곡 <Tre sonetti di Petrarca> 반주 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 이탈리아 서정시의 효시인 프란체스코 페트라르카(Francesco Petrarca, 1304-1374)의 시에 붙인 프란츠 리스트(Franz Liszt, 1811-1886)의 가곡 Tre sonetti di Petrarca 에 관한 연구이다. 리스트는 헝가리 태생의 작곡가이자 지휘자, 편곡자, 교육자이며 특히 훌륭한 피아니스트로도 명성을 떨친 19세기 낭만주의 시대의 대표적인 음악가이다. 리스트는 편곡작품을 포함한 다수의 피아노곡과 13개의 교향시 뿐 아니라 82곡의 가곡 등 많은 작품을 남겼다. 특히 문학작품에 많은 관심을 가졌던 그는 시나 소설 등에서 받은 감동을 그의 음악에 직접 표현하고자 했으며 이런 문학적인 요소는 그의 가곡이나 편곡작품에서도 찾아볼 수 있다. 본 논문에서 다루게 될 페트라르카 3개의 소네트에 의한 리스트의 가곡 Tre sonetti di Petrarca 는 리스트가 그의 연인인 마리 다구(Marie d'Agolt) 백작부인과 함께 로마를 여행하면서 이탈리아의 시인인 페트라르카의 시를 읽고 영감을 얻어서 작곡한 것이다. 이 곡은 음악과 시가 서로 밀접한 관계를 이루는 19세기 예술 가곡의 특징을 그대로 반영하였으며 피아노가 단순히 반주 역할만 하는 것이 아니라 노래와 같은 음악적 비중을 차지하고 있는 곡으로 1838-1839년에 작곡된 리스트의 가곡 중 대표적인 곡이다. 본 논문에서는 리스트의 생애, 그의 가곡의 특징과 그의 음악에서 나타나는 문학적 성향을 연구하였다. 그리고 Tre sonetti di Petrarca 가곡의 시인인 페트라르카와 그의 작품에 대해 살펴보고 마지막으로 제1곡 Pace non trovo, 제2곡 Benedetto sia'l giorno, 제3곡 I vidi in terra angelici costumi 각 곡을 분석하여 이 가곡들이 어떻게 가사의 뜻에 따라 리스트의 특징적인 가곡 작곡 기법이 나타나는지, 피아노 반주를 어떻게 결부시켰는지 알아보았다.|Franz Liszt(1811-1886) is a representative composer of 19th century romanticism in music. He was not only virtuoso pianist but also the teacher who affected many other contemporary musicians. Especially interested in literature, he represented his impression from the literary works like poem and novel through his 13 symphony poem and labeled piano music as well as songs. For he arranged and performed other composers' songs, opera and cavatina to piano music, he could contribute to improve the tone and acoustic of piano music. Actually, his song is underestimated compared to his many piano music and symphony poem. However, the fact that his songs were composed through all his life and that he composed them based on six nation's different language (Germany, France, Italy, England, Hungary and Russia) shows profound significance of Liszt songs. Liszt continue to arrange other composers' song such as Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann and so on, and he close with his musical colleagues and famous poets. By doing these, he broadened his understanding about expressing literary sensation into music. This is sufficient motive for him to compose songs. Tre Sonetti di Petrarca is a Liszt's early work while he lived in Italy 1838-1839. This song is composed for high voice, which is affected by Adolphe Nourrit, a tenor, worked together with him. This song has splendid piano accompaniment. The first theme, Pace non trovo is a song written in 104th sonetto of Petrarca, and describes despair of disappointed love. This song is consist of recitativo and aria like an opera aria. And a long interlude is its characteristics. The tempo changes intensively according to the context of poem. The second theme, Benedetto sia'l giorno is 47th song in sonetto, and it portrays a situation that someone blessing all his circumstance related to his love affair. This song kept unity by repeating a few motives. The third theme, I vidi in terra angelici costumi is a song written in 123th sonetto of Petrarca. Semitone modulations for expressing the nuance of the words of songs are often shown in this song. Long prelude which depicts the atmosphere of the song and postlude which is an modification form of vocal music melody are the unique character of it. By studying Tre Sonetti di Petrarca, the fact that Liszt composed song with interwinding music and poem was confirmed. And the fact, piano accompaniment is not a thing that shows technical skill but a thing that support, communicate, and explain the poem equally like vocal is understood.
