화석화된 식물의 이미지를 통한 자아 표현 연구 : 본인의 작품을 중심으로

Abstract

본 논문은 대학원 석사학위 청구논문으로서 1999년에서 2001년 사이에 제작된 본인의 작품들을 대상으로 하여 내용적 측면과 조형적 측면으로 나누어 연구한 것이다. 본인의 작품에서 표현하고자 하는 것은 현대사회의 도시적 삭막함 속에서 자신의 삶의 의지를 갖고 살아가는 현대인(現代人)을 포함한 본인(本人)의 모습을 반영하고자 한 것이다. 그 속에서도 현대사회에서 발생하는 소외현상이 개인이나 집단에게 어떠한 모습으로 영향을 주는 가를 사회학적 논의에 의한 인간소외의 현상을 통하여 현시대의 상황적 특성인 소외와 현대인을 불가분의 관계임을 밝히고, 또한 대중화를 특징짓는 조건의 하나가 되고 있는 익명적(匿名的) 현상을 서술하였으며, 이러한 현상들이 본인의 작품에서 어떠한 표현으로 나타났는지 서술하고자 하였다. 먼저, 본인이 심리적(心理的)으로 겪었던 체험(體驗)과 소외된 존재(存在)로서 의미를 깨닫게 한 이름 모를 들풀들을 소재로서 도입하게 된 경위(經緯)를 설명하였다. 그 이론적 배경으로 현대사회 속에서 개별의 특성이 상실되어 가는 인간소외 현상과 익명화(匿名化) 현상에 대해 논하였다. 그리고 이러한 상황에도 현대인은 미래를 바라보며 자신의 보다 나은 삶을 구현하기 위해 삶의 의지를 갖는다. 이렇듯 현대 속에서 야기되는 문제들을 수용하고 극복하는 인간의 생명의지를 논하였다. 인간존재의 내면적 이미지의 영역을 찾고자 실존철학을 바탕으로 인간의 존재성을 서술하고 이를 통해 소외와 익명적 현상 속에서도 보다 나은 삶을 구현하고자 하는 현대인의 정체성을 논하였다. 이러한 현대인의 삶의 모습을 표현하기 위해 조형적 측면에서의 조형행위를 서술하였다. 먼저, 식물의 형태는 세부적인 모습을 제거하고 단순화하면서 식물개체의 개별적 특성을 묘사하거나 강조하기보다는 '익명성'을 추구해 나가는 과정과 의미를 밝혔다. 특히, stencil 기법과 collagraph 기법으로 제작하면서 존재감만 드러내는 화석화(化石化)된 이미지 형성을 하고자 하였다. 그리고 중심 구도의 작품인 신사임당(申師任堂 : 1504-1551)의 초충도(草史圖)와 본인의 작품을 중심구도적 표현 형식으로 비교하였고, 식물의 존재성만 드러내는 화석화된 이미지 표현을 위해 물질성(物質性)을 드러내는 재료와 색(色)의 사용에 대한 내용과 의미를 서술하였다.|This study, for the requirement of master's degree at the graduate school, was mainly investigated the writer's productions which were made between 1999 and 2001 in terms of the import and modeling individually. The writer intends to reflect estranged human beings in a modern society, the unnoticed beings: Those who lost self-confidence in dreary urban life and carry on with full of uncertainty on their future. First of all, this study tried to explain how a sense of alienation in a modern society affects an individual and a group in terms of human estrangement of sociologic argiment. It also tried to explain that a human in a modern society inseparably related to an estrangement which is a very characteristic in present time. Secondly, it described an 'anonymous phenomenon' which becomes a condition of popularization. Furthermore it tried to describe that these happenings come out some sort of expression in the work. This study begins with the explanation why the writer utilize unknown wild plants as material, which opened my eyes to the true meaning of being alienated together with personal experiences. On the theoretical basis, it described human estrangement and anonymous phenomenon of losing individual characteristics. Although estranged, the modern people always looking for their better life. From this point of view, it depicted the will to live of human being who tries to accept and overcome the problems of a modern society. To uncover the internal image of human being, it described the exsitence of human being To present these modern life, it described modeling performance on the side of modeling. First of all, extracting the detailed aspect and simplifying it, it pointed to the process and meaning of pursuing the anonymity. Especially, producing it with the stencil and collagraph techniques, it analyzed the process of fossilization which only stands for the existence. And it made a comparative study of work of Shin-saimdang(1504-1551), Cho-chung-do which is work of the center arrangement, with my artistic work. To represent the images of fossilized plants which are placed on the side of emphasizing existence of object itself, it is described the details and meanings of material to expose attribute and color to use.
