Abstract

This study is to modern tea life term encyclopedically by extracting tea life term presented in the literature after 1980s and classifying and studying the contents. This researcher chose 6 kinds of great dictionary of national language and 6 kinds of tea book as the literatures of study subject. First, this researcher classified and studied tea life term by modes after choosing it by literatures, and tried to study as modern tea life term. First, by condensing and classifying 161 terms except the terms of overlap, incompleteness, and mutual discrepancy out of 629 terms recorded in 6 kinds of dictionaries after 1980s, this researcher tried to reestablish as the terms for tea life or add the beauty of common use. Second, contrasting and arranging 193 terms except the terms of overlap, incompleteness, and mutual discrepancy out of 357 terms recorded in 6 kinds of tea books after 1980s on the basis of dictionary terms made moderns refer in the life to drink tea. Third, the contents to classify the terms where there are character, 'tea' by forms from 12 kinds of literatures to be study subject is as follows: Terms related to place are 33 units, terms related to persons are 17 units, and terms related to tea goods are 49 units. To classify the terms related to tea goods in detail, terms related to tea are 29 units, terms related to goods are 6 units, and terms related to tea food are 14units. Terms related to tea tool are 120 units. To classify this in detail, terms of tool to make tea are 12 units, terms of tool to boil tea are 9 units, terms of tool to soak tea are 20 units, terms of tool to set tea are 23 units, terms of tool to keep tea are 15 units, and rest household goods are 15 units. Terms related to technique and style are 14 units. Then, this is classified into terms related to literature work are 10 units. terms related to life custom are 42 units. Then, this is classified into terms related to tea ceremony, 13 units, terms related to tea meeting and spread,15 units, and terms related to tea custom and system, 14 units. Term which is being used most out of the terms of tea tool is teacup, and it may be defined as 'cup to fill with tea and drink'. Fourth, objective condensation of terms of study subject is as follows: Term to be used most in the terms related to place is teahouse. Then, this term could be defined with 2 kinds, historical meaning and modern meaning. The former may be defined as the meaning, 'place to perform the tea ceremony of Royal Court and to carry our tea ceremony to accompany when kind visits', and the latter may be defined as the meaning, 'place that to sell tea or beverage by decoratting, so that people may share talk or take a rest'. Term to be used most in the term related to persons is tea horn. The original meaning of tea horn was packing unit of tribute tea in Koryo period and song period. But, the meaning of tea horn in [Daehanwha Dictionary] is the invitation of tea meeting or teacheobja. And, in [tea and Zen of Chosun], it refers to the people o play the role of preparing and giving tea as a child who failed to be Buddhist priest, and it is referred to as alias, Seunggak or tea child. In addition, tea horn is referred to as the pen name of Jung, Keuk In. Tea horn has divers meaning like this. But, in modern time, it is made into daily affairs with meaning, 'people to provide many people after drawing tea in Buddhist temple.' Term to be used most out of terms related to tea goods was tes. And, as the result of study of literature, it was classified into tea made with water that young leaf of tea tree was drawn or soaked and drink made by drawing or soaking leaf or root of plant and fruit. In modern time, meaning of tea is being used with the wide meaning to include substitute tea which is not pure tea made with the leaf of tea tree. and, it is deemed to be desirable to include 'substitute tea' in the category of tea as the method for making tea intimate to mass. Term to be used most in the term related to technique and style is gossip, and it may be defined as 'story to do, drinking tea'. Term to be used most in ther term related to tea literature is tea scriptures. And, it may be defined as 'book that origin, manufacturing method, and tool etc. of tea are described in detail as the first professional book for tea. Term to be used most in the term related to event and custom was tea ceremony And, it could be defined 'ceremony to serve divinity, uddha and people with tea observing etiquette'. As the result to have studied 12 kinds of literatures, 'modern tea life term' is not systematic yet. So, it is urgent subject to establish right and unified term, and also, it is deemed that the improvement of may terms which appeared in modern time is necessary.
