현대인의 일상을 통한 소외감 표현 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 2007년 석사 청구 전시에서 ‘타인과의 관계’ 라는 주제로 발표한 본인의 작품을 중심으로 그 내용과 조형성을 연구한 것이다. 우리가 살고 있는 21세기 사회를 뉴 미디어 또는 디지털 시대라고 한다. 오늘날 우리의 삶은 디지털, 사이버, 인터넷 등의 매스미디어에 의해 지배 받는다. 길을 찾기 위해 내비게이션을 사용하고 인터넷을 통해 정보를 구하거나 물건을 산다. 길을 걸으면서 도심 곳곳에 설치된 대형 전광판을 통해 실시간으로 전해지는 뉴스와 광고를 보고 휴대전화로 지구 반대편에 있는 사람과 화상 통화를 할 수 있는 시대이다. 물건을 고를 때에는 직접 가지 않아도 온라인으로 구매할 수 있게 되었고, 카드하나로 무엇이든 구입할 수 있고, 언제 어디든 갈 수도 있게 되었다. 이러한 첨단과학 기술이 이룩한 문명은 우리의 삶을 편리하게하고 풍요롭게 했지만, 역설적으로는 과학문명의 발달로 인한 인간소외 현상의 심화를 가져왔다. 과거에는 농촌이나 공장에서 여러 사람들의 협동 하에 조직적으로 이루어지던 시스템이 이제는 자동화된 기계를 관리하는 몇몇의 사람들만으로도 운영이 가능하게 되었다. 놀이문화 또한 혼자서 즐길 수 있는 온라인 게임의 발달로 현실과 가상의 경계마저 혼란스러워졌고 사람과 사람간의 소통은 더더욱 단절되어가고 있다. 원본이 사라진 사회 속에서 현실에서의 교류마저 혼돈되는 상황을 살아가는 현대인은 실제 만남 보다 컴퓨터 인터넷을 통한 가상공간을 통해 더 많은 것을 해결한다. |This thesis is the research on the content and characteristics of the artist`s work themed “Relationship with Others” presented in the 2007 Graduate Exhibition. The 21st century in which we live is called the new media or digital era. Our lives today are ruled by mass media such as digital, cyber and internet. We use navigation to find our way and the internet to make our purchases. We live an era in which, as we walk, we see real time news and advertisements through huge signs installed in various places in the city and talk on our mobile phones with someone who is on the other side of the world. We do not need to be physically present to choose the product we are to purchase as we can do it online. We can buy and go anywhere with a single card. Such society established by vanguard technology makes our lives convenient. However, in a way, forms a society of human alienation and inhumanity. The system of past formed structurally through farms or factories is now mechanized allowing for the management by only a few people. With the development of online games that are enjoyed alone, entertainment has become lacking in human interaction, and the distinction between reality and virtual has become confusing and thus servering communication between people. The modern man who lives a society where the original is gone and exchange is also chaotic, resolves many issues through the virtual space in the internet and computer rather than actual meetings and thus loses the sense of existence and identity formed in the interaction and interest between people becoming anxious. The people living their dry routines were the subject of my works upon which I reflected the emotions and experiences as another who lives in such modern world. I have molded the relationship with others with a focus on one`s own sense of existence. As I began my work, I have chosen as subject locations that best show relationships of modern man such as zebra-crossings and cafes. The zebra crossing is a space where many people collectively pass each other, but when people walk solely for the purpose of crossing the street one can see the phase of the modern social man who have become individualistic and uninterested in others. I aimed that expressing the relationship between people by reiteration this scene into an image of a person or image of several people. The other subject is the caf?, where numerous people are gathered, but is it a place for individual relationships. This space where people form common ground of sympathy but are too busy with their own businesses to even look around is the space where relationships between people are formed and maintained. This space was captured in photo and reconstructed or pasted on a mirror so that, as the appreciator sees himself in the work, communication between the appreciator and the artwork occurs. Art is influenced by social background. And artists interpret subjectively the socially oppressive reality task, explore for the results and, in the process of solving this problem, achieve the self of the current status. Reflecting on the importance of others in the current society in which I myself live, I discuss that directly and indirectly people are providing a sense of existence to each others’ lives.
