현대인의 욕망에 관한 회화 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 2007년에서 2009년 사이에 제작된 작품들을 대상으로 작품의 전개과정에 있어 내용적 측면과 조형적 측면을 연구, 분석하였다. 본인은 동화 「피노키오의 모험」의 피노키오를 모티브로 하여, 피노키오 인형을 차용하여 변형시키고 재해석 하여 현대사회를 살고 있는 인간의 욕망을 표현하고 있다. 동화 속 피노키오는 욕망을 제거함으로써 결국 진정한 인간이 되었지만 본인 작품에서의 피노키오는 여전히 욕망을 제거하지 못한 인간의 모습이다. 그러한 모습을 ‘피노키언’이라고 명명 하여 인생의 여러 체험을 바탕으로 현대인들의 다양한 모습을 상징화된 이미지들로 대변하고자 하였다. 현대사회 속에 과부화 되고 있는 인간의 욕망 개념과 철학자들의 이론을 짚어보고, 현대인의 자아정체성 상실의 결과를 낳은 사회적 욕망, 물질적 욕망, 성적 욕망을 작품의 내용적인 측면에서 분석하였다. 작품의 조형적인 형성 배경이 된 동화 속 피노키오의 캐릭터와 본인이 ‘피노키언’이라 명명한 캐릭터를 비교, 분석 하였다. 또 대상물이 지닌 이미지의 상상적 결합인 상징적 표현과, 대중이미지의 차용과 변형을 통해 작품 활동을 해온 작품의 조형적인 측면을 설명 하였다. 욕망을 충족시키는 과정을 통하여 인간은 자아를 인식하고 정체성을 찾아나가게 된다. 그러나 욕망 부풀리기 속에서 자아를 찾지 못하고 방황하는 현대인의 욕망의 본질과 자아의 세계관을 작품 속 에 반영함으로써 본인의 작품을 보는 관객으로 하여금 자아정체성의 회복의 계기가 되고자 한다. 본인은 세상 속 에서 보고, 느끼고, 사고하는 모든 경험들을 ‘피노키언’ 상징적 이미지를 통해 인간의 욕망을 해학적으로 재해석 하고 표현하였다. 어린 시절 보아왔던 가상의 캐릭터를 현실로 끌어내 현실과 가상의 경계를 무너뜨려 실재로 체험 될 수 있는 의미에서의 실존을 이야기 하고자 한다.|The purpose of this study was to analyze the contents and formative aspects of the works produced by the researcher for the period from 2007 to 2009. Using Pinocchio of the fairy tale "The Adventures of Pinocchio" for the motive, the researcher varied and reinterpreted the Pinocchio doll to express the desire of the human beings living in this contemporary world. While the Pinocchio in the fairy tale gave up its desire and thus, could not become a genuine human being, the Pinocchio in researcher's work is a human being with its desire not given up. The researcher named it 'Pinocchian' to represent diverse human beings' looks as symbolized images based on researcher's various experiences of life. To this end, the researcher reviewed the concept of the human desires overloaded in the contemporary society as well as philosophers' theories to analyze such desires resulting in loss of contemporary men's self-identity as social, material and sexual desires in terms of contents of the works. Then, the researcher comparatively analyzed the character 'Pinocchio' in the fairy tale or the formative background of the works and the character named 'Pinocchian' in researcher's works. In addition, the researcher discussed the symbolic expressions or the imaginative combination of characters' images and the formative aspects of the works derived and varied from the popular images. Human beings search for their identity, being aware of their egos through the process of fulfilling their desires. However, our contemporary human beings wander, not finding their egos in the elevated desires. Thus, the researcher attempted to reflect in the works the essence of contemporary men's desires and the view of the world projected into their egos and thereby, help researcher's audience to recover their ego-identity. All in all, the researcher attempted to humorously reinterpret the human desires through 'Pinocchian' symbolic images in reference to what the researcher had seen, felt and thought. The researcher wanted to draw onto reality the virtual characters to demolish the boundary between reality and virtuality and thereby, talk about the existence in terms of actual experiences.
