현대 여성 니트웨어 디자인의 표현 양식에 관한 연구 -1995년 이후 컬렉션을 중심으로-

Abstract

최근의 현대 니트웨어는 다양한 테크닉과 창조적인 감각의 디자인으로 인해 ‘대중적인 아트 패션(Common Art Fashion)’으로서 새로운 룩을 제공하고 있다. 이러한 현상은 예술적이고 심미적인 감성과 기술적 기능이 조화를 이룬다는 점에서 ‘예술적인 기술’ 즉 아트 테크놀로지(Art-Technology)라고 할 수 있다. 현대 패션에서 새로운 패션분야로서 각광을 받고 있는 니트웨어 제품의 개성화, 고급화, 전문화를 위해서 보다 창의적이고 독특한 감각의 니트웨어가 생산될 수 있는 방안들이 다각도로 모색되는 가운데, 패션 산업에서의 니트웨어 디자인 분야를 전략적으로 발전시키기 위한 방안이 절실히 요구되고 있는 상황이다. 이를 위해서는 다양한 조직의 구조와 독창적인 디자인의 개발, 기능적인 신소재 및 다양한 패턴, 조직에 의한 편직 기법과 미적 가치가 있는 신제품 개발을 지속, 추진해야 할 것이고 생산 공정 자동화에 대한 투자와 창의적인 니트웨어를 위한 심도있는 연구가 시급한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 1995년 이후의 컬렉션에 발표된 작품들을 실증적으로 분석함으로써 현대 니트 산업의 현황을 알아보고, 패션 이미지에 따른 니트웨어 디자인의 대표적인 표현 양식과 표현 기법의 분석을 통하여 새로운 유행 아이템으로서의 니트웨어 디자인을 위한 개발의 중요성을 인식시키고 고감도의 니트웨어 디자인의 효율적 방안을 제시하는데 그 의의가 있다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 현대 니트웨어는 기능적이고 실용성이 있는 패션으로서 대중화를 목표로 새로운 기술 혁신과 무봉제의 홀 가먼트가 실현되는 가운데, 현대 니트 산업의 현황을 기술적 측면, 공예적 측면, 토탈적 측면으로 구분하여 분석하였다. 기술적인 측면에서는 무봉제니트, A-POC, 신소재 개발 등의 기술적 발전의 영향을 받아 인체공학적이고 혁신적인 방법의 니트 생산의 구축을 이루어나가고 있으며, 공예적 측면에서의 니트웨어 현황은 니트의 특수한 질감을 살린 소재의 변화, 주제의 다양성과 표현 기법에 따른 수공예적 기법을 통한 예술적 미의 추구를 들 수 있다. 특히 1995년대 이후에 많은 패션 디자이너들이 아트로서의 니트웨어 디자인을 개발하고 있으며, 복합적인 표현 양식과 다양한 주제의 니트웨어 작품을 미술의상 분야로 발전시켰다. 현대 니트 디자인의 또 하나의 현상은 토탈화로서 니트웨어 디자인의 아웃웨어화와 의상 뿐만 아니라 액세서리, 인테리어 전반에까지 토탈 패션화에 따른 다양한 품목의 감각적인 니트류가 더욱 확대되고 있다. 현대 패션 전반에 영향을 주고 있는 포스트모더니즘의 영향과 라이프 스타일의 변화와 기술의 발달 등 외부 요인에 영향을 받아 현대 니트웨어 디자인에 나타난 표현 양식은 캐주얼, 레트로, 에콜로지, 에스닉, 테크놀로지, 해체주의로 크게 분류되며 그에 따른 다양한 패러다임 속에서 독창적인 조형적 특성을 나타내었다. 즉 현대 패션 이미지에 따른 니트웨어 디자인은 스포츠, 레저 등의 활동적이고 캐주얼 감각을 지향하는 외에도 지속되는 복고풍의 유행 속에서 빈티지, 노스탤직한 이미지 등이 많이 나타났으며, 신소재 및 신기술의 발달은 미적 감각과 믹스되어 새로운 기술의 미적 특성을 보여주고 있다. 또한 심미적이고 독창적인 감각을 중시하여 날로 다양하게 표현되는 디자인의 장식화와 불확정성과 해체주의를 특징으로 하는 포스트모더니즘의 영향으로 다원화된 표현 기법으로 표현되는 해체주의적인 경향을 보이고 있다. 현대 니트웨어 디자인에서의 표현 기법은 손뜨기와 기계뜨기를 중심으로 하는 뜨기 기법, 기본조직부터 변화조직까지의 조직에 의한 표현 기법, 다양한 소재의 개발과 함께 날로 기능화되고 새로워지는 소재에 의한 표현 기법 외에도 공예적 기법의 혼합적 표현 기법과 비즈, 자수 등의 장식적 표현 기법에 의한 장식 기법으로 구분되었다. 이처럼 현대 니트웨어 디자인에서 보여지는 표현 양식과 표현 기법은 과거보다 더욱 장식성과 심미성을 강조하고 복합화되는 경향을 보이는 가운데, 뜨기와 섬유공예의 다양한 기법을 접목시킨 보다 자유롭고 독창적인 조형미를 창출하고 있다. 향후 현대 니트웨어 디자인은 신기술에 의한 기능성을 갖춘 하이 테크놀로지 신소재와 염색, 가공 기술의 발달 및 편직 기술의 눈부신 발달과 함께 다양한 소비자의 니드에 부합하는 독창적이고 기능적인 디자인의 개발로 미래 패션의 아이템이 될 것이다.|Thanks to changing life style and technological advance, modern knitted garments have increasingly been functional, fashionable, diversified, totalized and artistic. The purpose of this study is to delve into the history and current state of knitted wear industry, and to shed light on the external pattern and expression technique of modern knitted wear design presented in and after the 1990s when knitted garment fashion started to be on the right track. It's ultimately attempted to determine some of the right directions for knitted wear fashion design in pursuit of higher aesthetic value and consumer needs satisfaction. The findings of the study are as follows : In general, current knitted wear industry could be said to seek higher technology, better artistic value and totalization. Technically, the development of Whole Garment, A-POC and new materials contributed to building a more innovative, ergonomic production system. In the 1970s, many artists started to concentrate their attention to developing artistic materials, and they turned this area into one of art clothing fields that covered multiple techniques and various themes. Another major phenomenon in modern knitted wear design was totalization. Knitted wear will play a crucial role in creating total fashion that concerns not only clothing and accessories but interior, and that will take the lead in future fashion industry. Owing to the impact of post-modernism, modern knitted wear designers had a tendency to describe their interests in the past and tradition from diverse angles. As people prefer casual clothes for sports or leisure activity, there were largely four types of modern knitted wear, including sports casual, retro, ecological and ethnic, technology, deconstruction, which all had unique formative characteristics. As for expression technique, typically a tissue and color based method is still prevailing, and more liberal and unique plastic beauty is pursued by combining knitting and different techniques of fiber crafts Decorative and aesthetic functions are more stressed than before, and a combination with other techniques of fiber craft and decorative techniques, such as beads and embroidery, became popular. Concerning the internal significance of modern knitted wear design, there were several features in that, including borrowing from the past, technical beauty, complex beauty, artistic beauty and beauty of de-construction. Retro look was in fashion, and given the phenomenon of borrowing vintage and nostalgic image from the past, it could be inferred that knitted wear design was being more complicated. The development of new materials and technology served to beef up the technical beauty of knitted garment. The liberal mix-up of different techniques contributed to intensifying knitted wear's beauty of complexity and deconstruction, and that consequently became more avant-garde. In the future, modern knitted wear will be in pursuit of 'art technology' that seeks after harmony between aesthetic and technical functions, and more unique, functional design will come out in response to diverse consumer needs.
