향기(香氣) 이미지의 금속조형 연구

Abstract

예로부터 자연은 인간으로 하여금 끝없이 다양한 감흥을 불러일으켜 왔으며, 자연은 모든 만물의 모체로서 인간 또한 거대한 자연의 일부이기에 자연 속에서 평온과 안식을 찾는다. 자연으로부터 얻어진 무한한 감성과 정서는 시각, 후각, 청각, 촉각, 미각의 다섯가지 감각기관을 통해 다양한 이미지로 전달되며, 이러한 이미지는 일상생활에 지친 오늘날 현대인들에게 삶의 풍요와 정서적 위로를 제공한다. 이에 본 연구는 자연으로부터 얻어진 수많은 이미지 가운데 시각적 자극에 의한 외형적 형상들로부터 얻어지는 이미지가 아닌 후각기(嗅覺器)를 통해 인지되는 향기(香氣) 이미지를 조형화 하고자 하였다. 조형전개는 우리가 흔히 생각하고 접할 수 있는 자연의 소산물 중 향기를 발산하는 대표적 매개체인 꽃이나 풀잎 등의 구체적 대상물을 그 소재로 삼되 그것의 가시적 형태보다는 그 각각의 소재가 갖고 있는 다양한 향의 느낌과 그 향이 발산하면서 퍼지는 향의 기운을 가시화 하고자 하였다. 따라서 이미지의 조형화에 있어서 향기의 은은하고 잔잔하게 흐르는 듯한 이미지는 식물 줄기의 흐름으로 유추(類推)하였고, 향기란 강하고 진하기보다는 그윽하고 은근한 냄새의 흐름으로 연상되기 때문에 향기의 비유 대상을 완연하게 성숙한 ??犬? 풀잎보다는 막 피어오르는 꽃봉오리나 새순의 형상으로 조형화 하여 비유된 각각의 대상으로부터 향기가 은은하게 퍼지고, 잔잔하게 감도는 듯한 이미지를 부여하였다. 본 연구자는 자연으로부터 얻어지는 이러한 후각적인 향기 이미지를 통해 각박한 현대생활 속에서 잊혀져 가는 도시인들의 내면 속에 잠재된 순수성과 상실된 인간적 의미를 되새겨 보고자 한다.|From ancient times, mother nature has aroused diverse feelings from the hearts of human beings and has been the origin of all thing under the sun. Human beings seek calmness and rest in the bosom of the mother nature. Countless feelings and emotions aroused by nature are transformed into images while transmitted through five sense organs such as the sense of sight, the sense of smell, the sense of hearing, the sense of touch, and the sense of taste. These images allow exhausted people in this modern society experience the richness of life and give them also the emotional comforts. Among all images of feelings and emotions aroused by nature, this researcher tried to mold the images of fragrance which are perceived through the sense of smell rather than the images which are from external forms of visual stimulus. Thus, while molding the image of those materials, this researcher depicted image of diffusing fragrance which might be felt dim and hazy by the analogy to the flow of stems. Furthermore, flowers which are the source of the fragrance are molded as the metaphorical symbol of bud or new sprout rather than those which are in full bloom to express the faintness of the image. This researcher tries to arouse the faded purity latent in the deep inside of people in exigent modern life and lost human nature through the various images of fragrance from nature.
