한지와 삼베를 재료로 한 전통미의 조형성 연구 : 본인 작품을 중심으로

Abstract

오늘날, 현대 한국화의 시대적 요청은 전통의 계승 문제와 현대성을 어떻게 조화롭게 작품을 구현하는가하는 문제이다. 근대 한국화단은 무분별한 서구의 문화 유입과 수용으로 인하여 서구화를 지향해 왔다. 그러나 70년대 후반부터 각성되기 시작한 전통에 대한 관심은 단절된 우리의 문화를 재인식하게 되었고, 그러면서부터 근대 이후에 형성된 서구적 사고(思考)와의 마찰을 피할 수 없었으며 그것은 또 자연히 전통이냐 현대화냐 하는 쟁점(爭點)을 만들 수 밖에 없었다. 이러한 면을 극복하고 현대화의 예술성과 전통성을 이 시대에 맞는 새로운 회화 양식으로 발전시키기 위해서는 많은 연구가 필요하며 과제로 남아 있다. 현대화의 추구는 외래적 요소의 수용과 전통 미의식을 융합하여 새로운 조형세계를 창조해 내는데 의미를 들 수 있다. 즉 본 연구에서 한국의 미의식과 전통, 정신문화와 현대화에서 오는 상호 문제를 작품에 조형화 시킴으로 해결점을 살펴보고자 한다. 과거의 한국화는 한지(韓紙)와 먹을 의주로 한 정신적(精神的)인 면을 중요시하고 상징적(象徵的)인 표현을 추구하여 왔다. 반면 현대로 오면서 점차 재료와 기법(技法)면에서 짜여진 화면의 한계를 벗어나 많은 변화와 새로운 시도를 해왔다. 본 연구에서 전통 재료를 통한 우리 민족의 고유한 정서를 연구하려 한다. 지역의 역사와 전통이 밀접하게 관련된 의식, 풍습, 생활양식을 통해 무속신앙과 종교적인 의식으로 나타나는 한국적인 미(美), 염원의 미(美)를 생활 속의 소재로 화면에 끌어들임으로서 전통미를 조형화 시키고자 한다.|In the modern society, authors are making a lot of efforts to find new ideas and skills. So it could be a very difficult thing to express a traditional beauty in this situation. However, in spite of this current, more and more modern authors are trying to find out traditional material and technique native to Korea, and to express the feeling and emotion which have been hidden inside the Koreans. Paintings can be defined as a work expressing at a time the intention, skill and sense of author in a constricted space. This article focus on the work of author, and deals with the various ways of expression through studying the background of work, shape of traditional material and explanation to the work. In a theoretical study, the concept of traditional beauty or the sense of beauty native to Korea can be said as a beauty which has survived through the long tradition and history of Korea. The shape of traditional material put an emphasis on the author's love for the tradition and continuous efforts in order to express the traditional material in a modern way or picturize that tradition. To express the tradition doesn't mean a just formal presentation of the past but the close liaison with the past. Therefore, author should have the ability to express his/her intention in the work properly. In order to develop the Korean traditional picture in the future, many creative efforts to find new one should be made, respecting the tradition of the past. That is to say, even though imitating the work of the past, something new and creative should be added. To inherit the tradition like this way can be presented as one of the ways the Korean traditional picture can take stand as a modern picture. Considering the current transition period, the efforts to be in line with the world flow of modern picture is not enough. The most important thing is to reconfirm the nature of Korean traditional picture and to recreate the Korean style picture which is appropriate to the emotion of the Koreans. In this article, we study the beauty of tradition which exist itself in the mind and life of the ordinary people through the Korean paper and hemp cloth of the traditional picture style. More studies and efforts still be required in order to develop the beauty of art and tradition of modern pictures to the new style of the current time.
