한국 현대 공포영화 특수분장의 발전에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 한국 공포 영화 속에서의 특수분장이 어떻게 발전되어오고 있으 며 적용되어지고 있는지를 분석하는데 의의를 두고 있다. 방대한 양의 공포 영화 속에서 우선 현대 공포영화로 집약하고 특수분장이 사용된 영화들 중 에서도 90년대 후반에 처음 개봉되어 2004년까지 총 4편의 시리즈를 낸 <여고괴담>을 중심으로 그 특징들을 살펴보고자한다. <여고괴담>은 당시 다른 장르영화에 비해 투자와 발전이 저조했던 우리 나라 공포영화 장르에 부활을 가져다 준 작품이었고 최초의 시리즈 영화로 서 그 의의가 크기 때문에 공포영화를 연구하고 특수분장의 발전을 좀 더 구체적으로 연구하는데 아주 적절한 작품이라고 본다. 또한 본 논문의 연구자가 <여고괴담 4-목소리>편에 직접 참여했던 작품이 기도 하다. 본 논문에서는 우선 당시 영화적 배경과 각 각의 시리즈에서 어떠한 특수 분장이 사용되었는지 장면별로 분석하고 사용되었던 재료들과 기법들을 중 심으로 어떠한 발전과정들이 있었는지 분석했다. 이러한 과정을 통해서 여 고괴담 시리즈와 비슷한 시기에 개봉된 다른 영화들 속에서 역시 같은 발전 양상을 볼 수 있었으며 다양한 특수분장 재료의 발전이 곧 특수분장의 질을 높이는 한 요소가 됨을 알 수 있었다. 하지만 우리나라 공포영화 속에서의 특수분장이 장기간 동안 서서히 발전 해온 외국에 비해 짧은 기간 내에 비약적인 발전이 있어 온 것은 사실이지 만 외국 재료의 의존도가 높고 예전과 비교해 비교적 나아지긴 했으나 여전 히 낮은 제작비로 인한 열악한 제작환경 등은 문제점으로 드러나고 있다. 또한 한국 특수분장의 짧은 역사만큼이나 관련자료들이 터무니없이 부족한 것이 사실이며 자본력을 중심으로 하여 철저하게 분업화되어 움직이는 외국 특수분장사들과는 달리 처음부터 완성까지 모든 과정에 참여하게 되는 우리 나라의 상황은 영화 발전에 걸림돌이 되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 전국관객이 1000만명이 넘는 시대에 돌입한 우리나라 영화 속에서 특수분 장 발전을 위한 전문가들의 노력은 계속되어야 할 것이고 이를 위해서는 자 본의 투자와 더불어 전문적인 서적과 특수분장 기술의 개발, 재료의 개발, 전문적인 교육기관 등의 설립 등이 필요한 시점이다.|This thesis lays meaning in analyzing how special make-up has developed and it is applied in Korean horror movie. This researcher tries to examine the features by putting together with modern horror movie in the horror movie of bulky quantity and centering around <ghost story of girls' high school> which was opened in the latter half of 1990s for the first time and which produced total 4 parts of series until 2004 out of movies that special make-up was used. As for <Ghost Story of Girls' High School>, the meaning is great as the work which brought revival to the genre of horror movie of our country that investment and development were dull in comparison with other genre movie in those days and as the first series movie. So, it is regarded as very proper work for studying horror movie and studying the development of special make-up more concretely. In addition, it is the work that the researcher of this thesis participated in the part of <ghost story of girls' high school 4-voice> directly. In this thesis, this researcher analyzed which special make-up was used in then movie background and each series by scenes and analyzed which development courses were there centering around used materials and techniques. Through this course, in other movies which were opened in the period to be similar to the series of ghost stroy of girls' high school, same development aspect could be seen, and it could be seen that the development of diverse special make-up materials is one element to heighten the quality of special make-up. However, it is true that special make-up in the horror movie of our country has made rapid progress within short period in comparison with foreign countries which have developed slowly for long period. But, that dependence on foreign country material is high and poor manufacture environment due to low manufacture expense which became better relatively in comparison with former times etc. are being revealed as points at issues. In addition, it is true that relevant data are insufficient incredibly as much as the short history of special make-up. And, it could be seen that the situation of our country which gets to participate in all the courses from the first to completion becomes the obstacle for the development of movie. In the movie of our country which rushed in the period that nationwide spectators exceed 10 million, efforts of specialists for the development of special make-up will have to continue. And, for this, it is point of time that technical book, development of special make-up technique, development of material, and foundation of professional education institution etc. with investment of capital are necessary.
