하인리히 폰 클라이스트의 노벨레 『오... 후작부인』 연구 : 갈등 구조와 화해의 성립과정을 중심으로

Abstract

본 논문은 하인리히 폰 클라이스트 Heinrich von Kleist (1777-1811)의 노벨레 『오... 후작부인 Die Marquise von O...』에 나타난 갈등구조와 화해의 성립과정을 분석하고자 하는?? 목적이 있다. 우선 클라이스트의 문학을 이해하기 위해 제 1장과 제 2장에서 그의 생애와 예술관, 그리고 문학관을 살펴보았다. 그의 문학에서는 칸트철학의 영향을 무시할 수 없는데, 칸트철학에 따르면 인간의 인식기관으로는 절대적 진리나 사물 그 자체를 인식할 수가 없다. 칸트철학을 접하게 된 클라이스트는 인간의 이성에는 한계가 있음을 깨닫고, 위기를 맞게된다. 칸트위기 이후 수수께끼와 모순은 클라이스트 사고의 기본 요소로 자리잡게 되고, 그의 작품은 대부분 모순의 구조를 근간으로 형성된다. 그는 인간이 자신의 자유의지가 아니라, 우연적인 운명에 이끌려 간다고 생각한다. 즉 운명은 우연히 다가와 인간의 현실세계를 모순으로 가득 채우고, 인간을 갈등에 빠지게 한다. 본 연구의 대상인 『오... 후작부인』에서도 우연한 사건과 그로 인해서 야기되는 인간의 정신적 갈등이 다루어지고 있다. 제 3장에서는 작품의 갈등구조에 대해서 살펴보았다. 등장인물들은 정신적 갈등으로 말미암아 모순적 상황에 직면하게 되는데, 우선 자신의 임신 사실을 의식하지 못한다는 이유로 결백함을 주장하는 후작부인의 의식분열을 살펴보았다. 그리고 갈등의 또 다른 원인이 되고 있는 백작의 이중적 성격과 후작부인의 양면성에 대해서 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 후작부인의 의식과 의식부재라는 모순적 현실을 다루었다. 제 4장에서는 등장 인물들이 정신적 갈등을 극복해 가는 과정과 클라이스트가 제시하는 모순적 상황의 극복 가능성을 살펴보았다. 클라이스트는 인간이 순수한 감정을 통해서 외부세계와 자아 스스로가 조화를 이룰 수 있다고 믿었다. 이것은 『오... 후작부인』에서 사랑과 모성애로 형상화되고 있다. 이는 클라이스트 노벨레의 인물들이 비극적인 운명을 겪지만, 그들 모두가 완전한 염세주의나 허무주의에 빠지지는 않는다는 점을 나타낸 것이다. 마지막으로 제 5장에서는 이 노벨레의 서술구조에 대해서 살펴보았다. 이 장에서는 특히 등장 인물들의 대화를 직접적으로 제시하고 있다는 점에서 객관적이고 극적인 서술구조와 문체상의 특징, 그리고 서술기법으로 과거로의 회기를 다루었다. 클라이스트는 그의 작품에서 이해 불가능하다고 여겨진 현실과 인간 삶의 비극적 문제를 객관적으로 그려내고 있으며, 현실에 대한 진정한 인식을 중요시하여 독자로 하여금 개인과 현실 사이의 관계에 주목하도록 유도하고 있다.|The purpose of this study is to analyze the conflict structure and process of reconciliation appeared on Novelle『Die Marquise von O...』 by Heinrich von Kleist(1777-1811). According to Immanuel Kant, the recognition system of human has limitation on recognizing the objective and absolute truth of the world. Upon the influence from Kant, Kleist realize that there is a limitation on human rationality and faces crisis. Following Kant enigma and contradiction settle as basic elements in his works. Therefore most of the storyline in his works are formed by incidents and contradictions. According to Kleist, humans maintain living not by their own free will but by incidental fates. In other words, fate approaches human and fills his reality with contradictions, pushing him or her into conflict. Base on such literary philosophy, in Novelle, Kleist depicts incidents and the result psychological conflicts. In the first and second chapters, I reviewed Kleist's life and his view on art, and in third chapter, characters who face conflict situation. I studied causes of the conflicts and contradictions, such as split consciousness, two-faced characters and forms of the contradiction reality. In the fourth chapter, I looked for how characters overcome mental conflicts, and how Kleist sought possibility of overcoming contradictions in the work. He believes that human in his control can establish balance between ego and outside world. Therefore, in Novelle, although the characters undergo tragic fates, they don't fall into pessimism or nihilism. In the last chapter, I review Kleist's method of writing. Kleist depicts conversation among characters directly, and uses indirect narration for objective writing. Also I reviewed his characteristic writing method Rueckwendung. In Novelle 『Die Marquise von O...』, Kleist depicts incomprehensible confusion in reality and tragic conflict in human life. Even in all the conflict situations he proposes honest emotion as an important element to overcome conflict. Also by emphasizing understanding of true reality, he leads readers to focus on the relationship between individual and reality.
