플루트의 Head-Joint의 고찰과 현대 연주기법에 관한 연구

Abstract

플루트(Flute) 구조의 발달은 연주자와 작곡자에게도 영향을 미치는 중요한 사항으로. 플루트 구조와 관련된 많은 요소들은 그 동안 연주자들과 제작자, 작곡자들의 끊임없는 변화와 연구를 통해 논의되며 발전하였다. 많은 요소들이 플루트 구조의 발달에 관해 논의될 수 있지만 본 논문에서는 다양한 현대 플루트 headjoint의 요소와 그와 연관된 현대 연주기법에 대해서 논의하고자 한다. 이 논문에서는 Boehm 플루트의 구조와 디자인에 대해서 살펴 보고자한다. Boehm 플루트의 기본적인 구조는 현대 플루트의 근본이 되며 가까운 장래에 그 구조보다 뛰어난 새로운 구조의 플루트의 출현이 어려워 보인다. 또한 그 새로운 구조의 플루트가 연주자나 작곡가에게서 Boehm 플루트만큼의 관심을 받기 어려울 것으로 생각된다. 이에 Boehm 플루트의 구조를 살펴보는 것은 현대 플루트 디자인을 이해하는 데 도움이 될 것이다. Thebold Boehm 이후 플루트 디자인은 계량되고 발전되었다. 이를 바탕으로 현대 플루트의 headjoint의 구조에 대해서 살펴보고 여러 가지 현대 플루트 headjoint에 대해서 연구함으로써 앞으로의 플루트의 발달에 관해 고찰해 보고자 한다. 기본적이 headjoint 외에 Butterfly headjoint, Glissando headjoint, UpRite' headjoint, 그리고 새로운 개념의 악기인 ‘Kingma Quartertone System’에 대해서 그 구조의 특징과 장단점에 대해서 살펴볼 것이다. 현대 플루트의 구조는 여러 가지 요소와 관련이 있지만 특히, 현대 연주기법과 그 밀접한 관련이 있다고 말할 수 있다. 이에 본 논문에서 quartertone, multiphonic등의 현대 새로운 연주기법에 대해서도 연구하고자 한다. 디자인의 발전과 다양화는 플루트 연주자나 작곡가의 개인적인 취향이나 선호도의 기반을 두는 경향이 있는 것으로 생각된다. 새로운 플루트 디자인의 필요성도 이런 취향이나 선호도에서 나오기도 하나, 현재에는 새로운 디자인에 대한 수요는 그리 많아 보이지는 않는다. 하지만, 가로 플루트의 디자인은 플루트 자체의 물리적, 시각적, 감각적 요소뿐만 아니라 tone과 음색과 같은 음향학적으로 보다 나은 플루트에 대한 필요성과 수요에 의해 발전해 나간다고 볼 수 있을 것이다.|Design of the flute are considered as one of the important factors by flutists and composers. Many factors related to the design of the flute have been discussed and are developing through the studies and experiments by flutists, composers, and flute makers. Although there could be other factors about development of the flute, in this study, the design of the flute focused on various comtemporary head-joints and the new techniques for flute will be discussed First of all, the structure and design of the Boehm flute will be reviewed due to the facts that the comtemporary flutes have been developed based on the Boehm flute. Also, it seems that the Boehm flute is unrivalled and will not be replaced, and even though a new innovative design may emerge, it seems to be vary hard to be paid attention by flutists and composers within the foreseeable future. Accordingly, the outline of the construction and design of the Boehm flute are helpful to understand the comtemporary flute designs discussed in the later chapter. We can identify many differences in design features of the comtemporary flutes from the Boehm flute. After Thebold Boehm, some developments in the design had been done. For more detalis, Butterfly head-joint, Glissando head-joint, Kingma Quartertone System, and 'UpRite' head-joint will be reviewed in this paper. The differences in the flute design can be easily showed when we compare strengths and weaknesses of the various comtemporary head-joints with the traditional Boehm flute. The developments of the comtemporary flute designs are also closely related to the new techniques for the flute. Therefore, the new techniques for the flute (e.x. quartertone and multiphonic) of the 20 century will be also discussed in later. The changes and developments in the flute design and techniques seem to be based on the personal preference of flutists and composers. Although, the needs for the new designs and techniques have been developing from the personal taste and preference, one design has not dominated the flute world except the Bohem flute. From these discussions we can gain an insight in the relationship between flutists and the transverse flute, that the need for these new designs would develop by the demand and pursuit of better tone and timbre as well as of the visual and physical perceptions of the flute
