프란츠 슈베르트(Franz Peter Schubert, 1797-1828)는 고전주의에서 낭만
주의로 전환하던 시기의 대표적인 작곡가로 600여 곡의 가곡(Lied)을 작곡
한 ‘가곡의 왕’으로도 잘 알려져 있다. 그는 많은 피아노 작품을 남겼는데
본 논문에서는 낭만시대의 주요장르인 성격소품에 해당하는 즉흥곡 《4개의
즉흥곡》(4 Impromptus, D. 935) 중 제 1번과 제 3번을 연구한다.
즉흥곡은 순간적으로 떠오른 악상의 즉흥적인 인상을 기보하여 쓴 기악곡
의 한 형식이다. 슈베르트는 1827년 작곡한 《4개의 즉흥곡》에서 고전적인
형식과 요소들을 사용하면서도 낭만주의적이며 풍부한 음악적 감성을 잘 나
타낸다. 네 곡 간의 관계와 구성을 살펴보면 전통적인 다악장 소나타 형식
과의 유사성을 보이지만 각 곡의 형식 안에서의 자유로움과 음악적 다이내
믹, 전조의 처리, 서정적이고 간결하면서도 아름다운 슈베르트만의 선율 등
에서는 낭만주의적인 성향을 나타낸다. 이 즉흥곡은 슈베르트가 두 시대의
음악적 특징을 잘 융합하여 쓴 작품으로 시대 전환기적 작품의 선구적 역할
을 하며 즉흥곡의 발전에 도움이 되었을 것으로 생각된다.|Franz Peter Schubert (1797-1828) was a leading composer of early
Romanticism, moving from Classicism to romanticism. He is well known
as the ‘King of Lied’ who composed over 600 songs. Schubert wrote
numerous piano works including character pieces, which is a major genre
of the Romantic period. In this writing, I examine No. 1 and 3 from his 4
Impromptus, D. 935.
‘Impromptu’ is a form of instrumental music that was written by a
momentary thought and free motif. Schubert composed 4 Impromptus, D.
935 in 1827, and used classical forms and elements in this work, while
expressing romantic and rich musical sensibilities. In terms of the
relationship and composition between the four pieces, it shows similarities- 59 -
to the traditional classical sonata style. However, in terms of freedom of
each piece, musical dynamic, the treatment of modulation, and the lyrical,
concise yet beautiful melody of Schubert, it shows a romantic tendency.
4 Impromptus, D. 935 is the piece in which Schubert combined Classical
and Romantic characteristics, becoming pioneer in a transitional repertoire.
And this work is though to have contributed to the development of
‘Impromptu’
