퍼스트레이디의 의상컬러에 나타난 이미지 표현 연구

Abstract

사회가 발전함에 따라 여성들의 사회활동은 증가하게 되며, 그에 따라 여성 지도자에 대한 관심이 증가한다. 퍼스트레이디는 한 나라를 대표하는 여성 중 한명으로서 모든 이들의 주목을 받으며 그 중에서도 패션은 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 퍼스트레이디들은 그 시대의 패션아이콘으로써 중요한 역할을 하며 퍼스트레이디들이 사용하는 ‘패션 폴리틱스(Fashion Politics)’에서도 컬러는 가장 쉽게 의미를 전달하면서도 그 영향력이 확대될 수 있는 디자인 전략 중 하나이다. 본 연구는 미국, 프랑스의 퍼스트레이디, 영국 왕세자비의 패션 컬러에 따른 패션 이미지를 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 퍼스트레이디들의 역할과 패션 컬러 이미지와의 관련성을 규명하기 위해 우선 이들이 어떠한 역할들을 수행하며 어떤 상황에서 활동을 하는가에 대해 알아보았다. 퍼스트레이디의 역할과 이미지 형성과정을 국가행사, 외교활동, 국빈접견, 사회활동, 개인활동으로 나누고, 퍼스트레이디의 역할에 따라 패션 이미지 및 패션 컬러 이미지가 어떻게 표현되는지 살펴보았다. 본 연구는 해외인터넷사이트 ‘www.gettyimages.com’의 자료를 주로 하여 국내외 기사 및 블로그 사진을 대상으로 분석하였으며, 분석대상의 기준은 퍼스트레이디로써의 기간에 한했다. 사진자료를 바탕으로 인물별 패션에 대한 컬러 이미지의 특징을 고찰하고 분석하였고, 컬러의 분석 기준은 Munsell Color System을 기준으로 색을 판별하였으며, ‘www.iricolor.com’ I.R.I.의 색채분석체계인 ‘Hue & Tone 120체계’, ‘단색 이미지 스케일’을 바탕으로 컬러를 분석하였다.

퍼스트레이디의 패션 컬러 이미지를 분석한 결과이다. 미셸 오바마의 패션을 분석하면 다음과 같다. 미셸 오바마는 ‘클래식’, ‘페미닌’, ‘엘레강스’, ‘모던’, ‘에스닉’ 이미지가 나타났고, 긍정적이고 자신감이 넘치며 밝은 성격의 소유자답게 다양한 컬러의 의상을 선택하여 T.P.O.에 적합한 패션을 연출하였다. 또한 과감한 프린트가 있는 에스닉한 느낌의 의상을 착용하여 클래식하고 엘레강스한 이미지를 주로 연출한 이전의 퍼스트레이디들과는 달리 개성있고 자신감있는 당당한 퍼스트레이디의 모습을 보여주었다. 국가행사 시의 패션 이미지는 ‘클래식’, ‘엘레강스’ 이미지가 나타났고, 패션 컬러 이미지는 무채색, P, B, R, Y, Multi Color, G계열 순으로 나타났다. 외교활동 시의 패션 이미지는 ‘엘레강스’, ‘페미닌’ 이미지가 나타났고, 패션 컬러 이미지는 무채색, B, Y, Multi Color, P계열순으로 나타났다. 국빈접견 시의 패션 이미지는 ‘엘레강스’, ‘페미닌’, ‘모던’ 이미지가 나타났고, 패션 컬러 이미지는 무채색, B, R, P, Multi Color, G, Y계열순으로 나타났다. 사회활동 시의 패션 이미지는 ‘페미닌’, ‘액티브’, ‘에스닉’ 이미지가 나타났고, 패션 컬러 이미지는 무채색, Multi Color, R, B, Y, G, P계열순으로 나타났다. 개인활동 시의 패션 이미지는 ‘페미닌’, ‘에스닉’, ‘액티브’ 이미지가 나타났고, 패션 컬러 이미지는 무채색, B, Multi Color, P, R, Y, G계열순으로 나타났다. 케이트 미들턴의 패션을 분석하면 다음과 같다. 케이트 미들턴은 ‘클래식’, ‘아방가르드’, ‘페미닌’, ‘엘레강스’, ‘액티브’ 이미지가 나타났고, 왕실의 상징인 색인 로열블루의 의상을 자주 착용하였고, 아방가르드한 느낌의 헤드기어를 착용하여 아름답고 우아한 왕세자비의 모습을 연출하였다. 국가행사 시의 패션 이미지는 ‘클래식’, ‘페미닌’, ‘엘레강스’, ‘아방가르드’ 이미지가 나타났고, 패션 컬러 이미지는 무채색, B, R, Y, G계열순으로 나타났다. 외교활동 시의 패션 이미지는 ‘페미닌’, ‘아방가르드’, ‘엘레강스’ 이미지가 나타났고, 패션 컬러 이미지는 B, R, Y, 무채색, G, P, Multi Color순으로 나타났다. 국빈접견 시의 패션 이미지는 ‘페미닌’, ‘엘레강스’ 이미지가 나타났고 패션 컬러 이미지는 Y, P계열순으로 나타났다. 사회활동 시의 패션 이미지는 ‘페미닌’, ‘엘레강스’, ‘아방가르드’ 이미지가 나타났고, 패션 컬러 이미지는 무채색, B, R, Y, G, Multi Color, P계열순으로 나타났다. 개인활동 시의 패션 이미지는 ‘페미닌’, ‘액티브’ 이미지가 나타났고, 패션 컬러 이미지는 B, 무채색, G, Multi Color순으로 나타났다. 카를라 브루니의 패션을 분석하면 다음과 같다. 카를라 브루니는 ‘클래식’, ‘매니쉬’, ‘엘레강스’, ‘모던’ 이미지가 나타났고, 무채색계열의 의상을 주로 착용하여 매니쉬하면서도 단정하고 세련된 퍼스트레이디의 모습을 연출하였다. 국가행사 시의 패션 이미지는 ‘엘레강스’, ‘클래식’, ‘페미닌’, ‘매니쉬’ 이미지가 나타났고, 패션 컬러 이미지는 무채색, B, P계열순으로 나타났다. 외교활동 시의 패션 이미지는 ‘클래식’, ‘엘레강스’, ‘페미닌’ 이미지가 나타났고, 패션 컬러 이미지는 무채색, B, P, Y, R계열순으로 나타났다. 국빈접견 시의 패션 이미지는 ‘엘레강스’, ‘페미닌’, ‘클래식’ 이미지가 나타났고, 패션 컬러 이미지는 무채색, B, P계열순으로 나타났다. 사회활동 시의 패션 이미지는 ‘모던’, ‘엘레강스’, ‘매니쉬’ 이미지가 나타났고, 패션 컬러 이미지는 무채색, B, Y계열 순으로 나타났다. 개인활동 시의 패션 이미지는 ‘클래식’, ‘페미닌’ 이미지가 나타났고, 패션 컬러 이미지는 무채색, Y, B계열순으로 나타났다.

현대사회에서는 여성들의 사회적 지위가 높아짐에 따라 여성 정치인, 여성 지도자, 여성 전문가 및 사회활동을 하는 여성들이 증가하고 있으며, 이러한 여성들은 사회적으로 활동하는 영역도 넓어져 자신의 이미지 표현에 대해 관심이 높아지게 되었다. 본 연구에서 퍼스트레이디의 국가행사, 외교활동, 국빈접견, 사회활동, 개인활동에 따른 패션 이미지 및 패션 컬러 이미지에 대해 살펴본 결과, 미국, 영국, 프랑스 각국의 문화와 정서, 사회적 상황, 배경 등 그리고 퍼스트레이디의 성격 및 취향에 따라 패션 이미지 및 패션 컬러 이미지가 다르게 나타나는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이에 학문적인 자료를 구축함으로써 여성들에게 자신의 성격 및 취향을 바탕으로 직업이나 활동영역에 적합한 세련되고 긍정적인 이미지 표현을 위한 패션 자료로 활용될 수 있는 데 의의가 있다.| As Society develops, Women‘s social activities would increase, and the interests of female leader increase as well. As a woman who represents the country, First lady attracts the attention of the people(Public) and most of all, fashion of the lady deserves the spotlight. First ladies play a important role as a fashion icon of the era and the color is one of the design strategy which is the easiest way to deliver message and extend the influence in ‘fashion politics‘ they use. The purpose of this study is to analyze the fashion image of The First lady of United States of America and France and The Duchess of Cambridge of United Kingdom based on fashion color. First, investigator surveyed what kinds of roles first ladies play and what circumstances they work in to examine the relation with their role and fashion color image. First lady‘s roles and process of forming their images were categorized by state occasion, diplomatic activity, state guest reception, social activity, personal activity and investigator researched how to express the fashion image and fashion color image according to First lady‘s role. This study analyzed photos which shown domestic and international articles and blog, mainly ‘www.gettyimages.com’, international website during their tenure. Based on photos, investigator studied and analyzed feature of color image about personal fashion, distinguished color using ’Munsell Color System’ and analyzed color using ’www.iricolor.com’ I.R.I(Image Research Institute)’s ’Hue & Tone 120 System’, ’Single Color Image Scale’.

Following is the result of analyzing First lady’s fashion color image. Michelle Obama’s fashion is analyzed as follows. ‘Classic’, ‘Feminine’, ‘Elegant’, ‘Modern’, ‘Ethnic’ images appeared in Michelle’s fashion. As positive, confident and bright personality, she selects colorful clothes and cordinates fashion in suitable T.P.O.. And she dresses ‘Ethnic’ clothes which have peculiar print, so that showed unique, confident and dignified First lady different from others who express ‘Classic’, and ‘Elegant’ images. Fashion images of state occasion appeared as ‘Classic’, ‘Elegant’ and fashion color images appeared in order Mono, P, B, R, Y, Multi color, G shade. Fahshion images of diplomatic activity appeared as ‘Elegant’, ‘Feminine’ and fashion color images appeared in order Mono, B, Y, Multi color, P shade. She expressed as a beautiful and gorgeous The Duchess of Cambridge using royal blue color which is a symbol of Royal and wearing an avant-garde style headgear. As a First lady, She mainly took mono shade clothes and expressed mannish, neat, refined look. In modern society, According to rise female’s social position, female politicians, female leaders, female specialists and women who have social position are increasing and those women who widen their working field in sociality are concerned about express their images. On this study, as a result of First lady’s fashion image and fashion color image according to state occasion, diplomatic activity, state guest reception, social activity, personal activity, Fashion image and fashion color image appeared differently depend on United State of America, United Kingdom and France’s culture, sentiment, social situation, background and First lady’s personality and taste. By building academic data, It has significance for women as using the fashion data for expressing the refined and positive image which is appropriate for the occupation and work field based on their personality and taste.
