클라라 슈만의 《뤼케르트의 ‘사랑의 봄’에 의한 3개의 가곡》 분석 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 클라라 슈만(Clara Schumann, 1819-1896)의 《뤼케르트의 ‘사랑의 봄’에 의한 3개의 가곡》(Drei Gedichte aus Rückerts "Liebesfrühling")을 분석 연구하였다. 클라라는 결혼한 다음 해인 1841년 낭만주의 대표 시인 뤼케르트(Friedrich Rückert, 1788-1866)의 시 모음집 『사랑의 봄』(Liebesfrühling)에서 3편을 발췌하여 작곡하였다. 이 세 곡은 《로베르트와 클라라 슈만의 노래와 피아노를 위한 F. 뤼케르트의 ‘사랑의 봄’ 중 12개의 시》(Zwölf Gedichte aus Friedrich Rückert’s Liebesfrühling für Gesang und Pianoforte von Robert und Clara Schumann, Op.37)라는 이름으로 남편의 곡과 함께 출판되었다.

제1곡 〈그는 폭풍과 비 속에서 왔네〉(Er ist gekommen in Sturm und Regen)는 피아노 반주부의 화려한 아르페지오로 휘몰아치는 폭풍과 비를 다이내믹하게 묘사하며 시의 내용을 섬세하게 표현하였다. 제2곡 〈당신이 아름다움 때문에 사랑한다면〉(Liebst du um Schönheit)은 곡 사이의 짧은 전조 및 반복진행과 동형진행을 통하여 시의 분위기를 효과적으로 전환하고 선율의 변화를 통해 가사를 더욱 극적으로 표현한다. 제3곡 〈당신은 왜 다른 이에게 묻나요〉(Warum willst du and’re fragen)는 넓은 아르페지오와 아치형 선율이 주를 이루고 이와 함께 화성적 반주가 어우러지면서 클라라의 부드럽고 서정적인 면이 보인다.

세 곡의 분석을 바탕으로 그녀의 가곡은 행복했던 결혼생활 초기에 작곡되었기에 텍스트 선택에 있어 변하지 않는 영원한 사랑에 대한 주제의 시를 선호하였고 곡 표현에 있어서도 사랑의 다양한 감정이 잘 드러나 있다. 시가 짧고 단순한 것에 기인하여 비교적 단순한 유절형식과 변형 유절형식으로 이루어져 있으나 그 속에서도 섬세한 시어를 살리며 음악적 변화를 주었다. 기본적으로 원시에 충실하되 약간의 변화를 통해 시어의 뜻을 강조하였고 음의 확장과 반음계 진행 등의 부분에서 감정의 고조를 통해 화자의 심리상태를 면밀히 보여준다. 주요 단어에서 음가의 길이 변화와 도약 및 고음 등을 사용하여 선율이 가사의 내용을 한층 더 돋보이게 하였고, 피아노 부분은 전주와 간주에서 뒤이어 등장할 성악 선율을 예고하며 역할을 충실하게 수행한다. 성악 선율의 단순한 보조가 아닌 동등한 위치에서 음악과 시의 결합을 이끌어내며 곡의 전체적인 분위기를 잘 이끌어 주고 있고 조성 및 화성은 전통적인 화성이 주로 쓰이나 전조와 감7화음, 부속화음, 비화성음 등을 적절히 사용하여 시어와 함께 음악적인 색채를 돋보이게 하였다. 이처럼 슈만과의 결혼 이후 그의 영향을 받아 피아니스트로서뿐만 아니라 작곡가로서의 더욱 깊어진 클라라의 역량을 확인할 수 있다.|This thesis talks about a study of Drei Lieder, Op.12 by Clara Schumann(1819-1896). She is a female pianist and composer representing Romanticism. She composed more than 30 songs and 20 piano pieces and was greatly influenced by her husband, Robert Schumann. The three songs were written from the Romantic poet Friedrich Rückert (1788–1866) collection of poems, 『Spring of Love』(Liebesfrühling), and it was published in 1841 by the Schumann couple as 《12 poems of Friedrich Lückert's "Spring of Love" for Robert and Clara Schumann's songs and piano》(Zwölf Gedichte aus F. Rückert’s Liebesfrühling für Gesang und Pianoforte von Robert und Clara Schumann). Looking at the characteristics of the three songs, she had a much more advanced format compared to her earlier songs and preferred love-themed poetry in text selection. In the use of poetry, the length, leap, and key words of the sound were expressed in high notes, further highlighting the lyrics and enhancing the connection between poetry and melody. The composition and chord were often used to accentuate the musical color along with the verse, using the seven chords of the foreword, the auxiliary chords, and the nasal chords. The piano accompaniment played its role faithfully, heralding the vocal melody that would follow in the introduction and interlude. It brings the combination of music and poetry to a higher level in an equal position, not in the support of vocal melodies, and leads the overall atmosphere well without losing its independent personality. Through this paper, we were able to examine the characteristics of Clara's songs, and we hope that many performers will be interested in Clara's works, which are not yet active in research in Korea, and in-depth research and performance of her songs.
