일상적 소재에 표현된 연상 이미지 : 본인의 작품을 중심으로

Abstract

본 연구는 2000년부터 2004년까지의 본인 작업에 대하여 연구 서술한 것이다. 우리 주변에서 쉽게 접할 수 있는 소재를 그 대상으로 하여 시작하였으며 '일상의 맞보기' 란 제목으로 일상적인 소재의 오브제에 표현된 연상이미지와 여러 가지 설치 방법?막? 표현한 작품을 주로 하여 서술하였다. 이러한 방법의 표현들은 새로운 스타일, 재료, 기술에의 모색을 통한 다양한 시각적 표현방법과 소재로 선택되어진 것이다. 20세기 초엽에서부터 시작된 오브제의 출현에서 현대의 미디어아트(영상 미술)까지 방법적인 측면에서 너무나 광범위하고 회화와 조각의 구분이 모호해질 만큼 다양한 미술의 양식이 시작되었다. 회화에서 보여 지는 특징으로 오브제의 첨가나 입체성 부여, 그리고 형상성의 부활을 들 수 있다. 관습적인 평면회화의 탈피로서 오브제 미술은 설치미술에서 영상미술까지 등장시키는 계기가 되었다. 본인의 작업과정 역시 이러한 흐름이 나타나고 있다. 본인이 학부 때부터 시작한 짧은 작업 과정 중에 오브제를 사용하게 된 변환점의 시기는 대학원 들어오면서부터였다. 본인은 오브제를 통해 그동안 사용해 오던 평면 회화를 오브제에 접목시켜 연상 작용과 함께 평면이 아닌 평면회화와 시·공간까지의 연장선상에서 설치 작업으로 표현하였다. 본 논고에서는 본인 작업의 주가 되는 오브제 미술과 설치 미술이 미술 문맥에서의 출현과 흐름을 살펴보고 그 전개 양상에 대해 논하여 보았으며 그것과 비교되는 본인 작품의 일상적 오브제에 표현된 상징적 이미지와 그 표현적 방법으로서의 다양한 설치방법에 대한 특성을 서술하였다.|The methods of arts are so varied and the modes of arts so diversified that painting cannot be easily distinguished from sculpture in terms of objets emerging from early the 20^(th) century and of media arts (image arts) in the modern times. The characteristics of paintings include the addition of objets or the provision of the solidity and the resurrection of shapes. Different from conventional plane paintings, object arts paved the way for installation arts as well as image arts. This trend of artistic flows is also reflected in the works of the author. Upon entering the graduate school, the author started to use objets in her relatively short-term arts life since her college days. The author has incorporated plane paintings into objets so that installation arts may be extended and expressed not in planes but in plane. paintings and space-time with the help of association process. This thesis has considered the emergence and flow of object arts and installation arts that are the main tasks of the author, and the developments of those arts. Based on the considerations, the author has described the characteristics of symbolic images presented in the author's ordinary objets of works and of various installation methods or expressive methods.
