일상 사물을 통한 기억의 환기 : 본인의 작품을 중심으로

Abstract

예술가는 일상의 삶을 영위하고 있는 존재이며, 한 사람의 구성원으로서 다양한 사회적 관계를 통해 자신의 정신적, 물리적 활동의 산물들을 일상속에 남겨 놓게 된다. 따라서, 인간과 가장 밀접한 관계에 놓여 있는 일상적인 것에서 예술의 소재를 찾는 것은 너무나 당연한 일이다. 본인의 작업 또한 삶을 통해 겪는 모든 경험의 반영으로서, 작업의 모티브를 쉽게 만날 수 있는 일상 사물에서 취하여 화면에 담음으로써 일종의 기억의 화석으로 기록하고자 하였다. 거대한 시간 속에서의 순간의 이야기, 즉 기억은 언젠가 희미하게 사라질 수 있는 것이지만, 개개인에게는 삶의 한 부분을 차지하고 이 세계를 구성하는 한 단면이 된다. 이러한 기억은 연상작용에 의해 생겨나고 회화에서 연상은 시각이라는 구체성을 주어야 일어나므로, 본인은 친숙했던 ?濚걋? 흔적으로 표현하여 기억을 떠올리는데 이용하였다. 본 논문에서는 본인의 내면 속에 자리하고 있는 각인된 체험의 기록들을 회화공간에서 어떻게 표출하고 있는지 내용적, 조형적 측면으로 나누어 정리하고 있다. 먼저 내용적 측면에서는 일상적 소재를 가지고 표현한 작업 주제의 설정 동기를 서술하고 무의식에서 비롯된 체험을 어떠한 방법으로 표출하였는지 조형적 동기와 함께 서술하였다. 그리고, 조형적 측면에서는 화면에 표현한 조형적 설정, 본인 작업의 가장 대부분을 차지하는 색채인 무채색을 사용한 동기, 끈을 이용하게 된 동기를 질감 표현과 함께 언급하고 이러한 조형적 요소가 본인이 표현하고자 하는 심상과 어떻게 부합되어지는지에 대하여 서술하고 있다. 이 논문은 1999년부터 2003년까지의 본인의 작업들 중 2003년 9월 개인전에 출품된 작품 중에서 필름지(OHP用) 작업과 판화기법으로 작업한 것들을 위주로 하여 연구·서술한 작품 논문이다. 본 논문의 연구를 통하여 본인의 내면을 시각적으로 표현해 온 과정을 살펴봄으로써 작업을 분석하는 기회가 되어 보다 발전적인 작업의 방향을 구축하는 계기로 삼고자 한다.|The artist is one of the common men in a society and leaves his products in the society through spiritual and physical activities. Thus, it is natural that they discribe something from the familiar objects. The researcher's works also reflect experiences of all one's life. So, I tries to record as a fossil of memory by expression from the familiar things. As time goes by, even though momentary memories may fade, the memories will be building blocks of life and these accumulated memories will become an aspect of this world. The association process brings back to my mind and it in painting is showed by visual arts. Thus, the researcher call to mind of something that familiar things are expressed by traces. In this thesis, I summarized how recording expriences which are deeply hided are formatively expressed and spreaded in pictorial spaces. First, the content study part describes motivation of how to choose the subjects and plastic expression. And the methodological study part explains the reason why use colorless, string and select techniques, this study reviewed what to say, how to say it and how the plastic factor and expression image are matched. This study was carried out centered on my works, which were painted between 1999 and 2003, and were displayed in the solo exhibition held in September, 2003, on the basis of OHP film works and print. Also, this study will be an opportunity to establish the direction of more developmental work through trying to making into a chance to look back upon my work by observing process of visual expression of my inside world.
