인터넷에 나타난 隱喩的 表現

Abstract

인터넷은 마우스만 클릭하면 정보를 찾을 수 있는 '정보의 바다'이다. 1990년 성탄절과 함께 최초의 웹브라우저는 공개되었고 뉴욕 타임지에 따르면 1999년 11월 미국 인터넷 이용자 수가 1억을 돌파했으며, 2003년에는 세계 5억 인구가 인터넷을 이용할 것이라고 전망했다. 필자는 Sperber ＆ Wilson의 적합성과 Lakoff ＆ Johnson의 개념 은유를 통한 근원영역과 목표영역의 사상관계를 인터넷에 사용되는 용어에 적용시켜 보고자 한다. 이것은 은유를 사용하여 인터넷에 사용된 영어 표현을 좀 더 쉽게 이해하고자 하는 것이다. 제 2장에서는 은유의 정의와 언어학적 해석을 살펴보았고, 제 3장에서는 인터넷을 고속도로와 가상의 세계의 여러 가지 속성들에 비유하여 근원영역을 목표영역에 사상시키었다. 제 4장에서는 인터넷을 바다(물), 동물과 식물의 여러 가지 속성들에 비유하여 근원영역을 목표영역에 사상시키고자 하였다. 이로써 은유를 사용하여 아직까지 생소하게 들리는 인터넷을 우리 주변의 친숙한 것들을 대상으로 하여 대응시키므로 인터넷에 사용된 영어 표현을 이해하는데 도움이 되고자 하였다.|By clicking a button, we can connect to an ocean of information, the Internet. After the first web browser was introduced, the number of users in the United States of America numbered one hundred million, and the net surfers of the world are expected to increase to five hundred million by 2003. This paper shows how to apply the relevance of Sperber ＆ Wilson and the concept of the metaphor of Lakoff ＆ Johnson to the terms used in the Internet. By doing so, we should be able to easily understand the Internet. In Chapter 2, this paper tells us the definitions of the metaphor and linguistic interpretation. In Chapter 3, the Internet is compared with various properties of a highway and the virtual world. I projected the source domain to the target domain. In Chapter 4, the target domain is projected from the source domain by comparing the Internet with the properties of the ocean (water), animals, and plants. Finally, this paper will help us understand the world of the Internet by relating it to familiar objects around us by using metaphors.
