이중구조를 갖는 도자소품 제작연구

Abstract

이중기(二重器)는 두 개의 그릇을 안팎으로 붙여 하나의 형태로 만든 그릇으로, 용도나 조형적 목적에 따라 다양한 형태의 도자기로 제작되어 왔다. 외형과 내형이 거의 일치하는 일반적인 도자그릇에 비해, 이중기는 외부와 내부의 형태가 서로 다른 다양한 형태표현이 가능하다. 이중기는 그릇 안쪽의 공간을 내부공간, 기벽 바깥을 외부공간으로 구분하며 기벽 안쪽의 ‘막힌 공간’과 기벽의 바깥의 ‘열린 공간’을 형성한다. 외형과 이어진 내형의 오목한 부분은 용기의 기능을 갖는 외부이자 열려있는 내부공간으로 구분하며, 열린 공간으로 인해 생성된 막힌 공간은 이중기를 구성하는 필수 요소이다. 본 연구는 이중기가 갖는 공간의 관계에 주목해 합을 이중기의 구조를 가진 그릇으로 보았다. 합은 몸체는 열린 공간이지만 뚜껑을 닫으면 두 개의 그릇이 하나의 형태를 이뤄 닫힌 공간을 만들어 물건을 담아 보관하는 역할을 할 수 있다. 이때 뚜껑을 오목한 그릇 형태로 만들어 합으로부터 도출된 이중구조의 도자기 소품을 제안하고자 한다. 합이 가진 이중구조를 이중기의 확장으로 보고 이를 위하여 과거에서 현재로 이어진 이중구조를 가진 도자기의 용도와 형태에 따른 특성을 알아보았다. 또한 전형적인 이중구조에서 벗어난 변형된 이중기를 알아보고, 이중기벽을 가진 그릇의 공간의 관계를 통해 의미를 확장하고 디자인을 전개했다. 시작품 디자인에 있어서는 구와 원기둥을 기본형으로 선택했으며, 용도와 형태가 다른 독립된 두 개의 그릇을 상하로 포개며 조합할 수 있도록 했다. 조합된 형상은 완전한 하나의 그릇형태가 되도록 디자인했다. 상단에 얹어지는 그릇은 뚜껑의 역할도 하면서 음식이나 물건을 담을 수 있는 그릇으로 제작하였으며, 뚜껑부분인 상단의 기물지름과 하단기물 입구의 지름을 규격화해 상호 교환하여 조합이 가능하도록 제작하였다. 상호교환이 가능한 그릇은 사용 목적에 따라 선택할 수 있으며, 다른 목적을 가진 두 가지 형태의 그릇을 사용자가 조합하며 새로운 구성으로 이끌어 낼 수 있도록 하였다. 이상과 같이 본 연구는 두 개의 그릇을 조합해 이중기와 같은 구조를 갖되 각각의 내부공간에 다른 용도를 부여하여 복합적인 용도를 가진 도자소품을 제작하였다.

Key Word: 이중기, 이중구조, 두 개의 그릇, 조합, 합, 구와 원기둥|The dual ceramic vessel is a single-body bowl made of two bowls attached inside and outside, and it was made as various forms of ceramics depending on the uses or formative purposes. While other ceramic bowls have almost congruous inside and outside forms, the dual ceramic vessel has different forms inside and outside to have different formative expressions. The inner space and outer space of dual structure are distinguished, and it forms the "closed space" inside the wall and "open space" outside the wall. The concaved area between inner and outer forms is regarded as both the outside with the function of bowl and inner space, and the closed space generated by the open space is an essential element of dual ceramic. This study is to accentuate the relationship of spaces by the dual ceramic to regard the container of spaces as it of bowl with the structure of dual ceramic. In the container, the body is open space, but as the cap is closed, two bowls form one shape to take a role of containing and storing up objects with a close space. Here at, this study is to propose a ceramic of dual structure extracted from container through a concaved bowl cap. The dual structure by container is regarded as the expansion of dual ceramic vessel, and for this, the uses and forms of ceramics with the dual structure connected from past to present were evaluated. Furthermore, the modified dual ceramic vessel deviated from conventional dual structure was evaluated, and through the relationship of spaces by bowls with dual walls, the definition and design were extended. In a design of pilot model, sphere and cylinder were selected as the basic forms, and two bowls of different uses and forms were attached as top and bottom to be combined. The combined form was designed to become a complete single-body bowl. The bowl at the top was designed to work as both a cap and a bowl to hold food or object, and the upper diameter and lower diameter were standardized to be interchangeable to be combined. The interchangeable bowl may be selected depending on the purposes of use, and two bowls with different forms of different purposes are combined by a user to have a new composition. Likewise, this study is to combine two bowls to have a structure like a dual ceramic, while the decorative ceramic is designed to have each inner space containing different use to have integrated uses.
