이미지의 반복과 중첩을 통한 공간표현 연구

Abstract

예술은 시대를 막론하고 그 시대의 사회와 함께 호흡하며 존재해왔다. 인간의 삶과 불가분의 관계에 있는 예술은 현시점에서 다원화와 대중화라는 이름으로 그 영역은 확장해 가고 있다. 그러한 시대의 흐름 속에서 신의 구원을 간구했던 과거의 관심은 예술의 아우라 (Aura)가 소멸되면서 인간내면과 생명의 가치로 그 중심을 돌리고 있다. 이러한 변화 속에서 본인은 기하학적인 형태를 토대로 하여 생명력 있는 유기적인 형상으로 관심을 갖게 되었다. 또한 작업을 함에 있어서 반복과 중첩을 통해 다양한 시각적인 변화를 주고자 하였다. 중첩은 ‘여러 층이 겹쳐있는 형태’를 뜻한다. 형태적으로는 한 단위가 부분적으로 그것의 위에 있는 다른 단위에 가리어질 때 생기는 것으로 부분을 강조하기보다는 통일된 패턴 안에 집중 됨 으로써 그 형태는 더 강조 될 수 있다. 또한 중첩은 시각적 측면에서 화면 속 공간에 움직임을 부여 하고 있으며 무한한 세계들이 만들어 지는 과정인 것이다. 본인 작품에서의 중첩은 시각적 측면에서 화면 속 공간에 반복과 중첩을 통해 규칙적인 리듬감을 만들어 내며 작품에 흥미를 더욱 유발시킨다. 따라서 본인 작품은 공간에서 얻는 이미지를 중첩으로 표현하여 공간을 시각화하는데 목적이 있고 또한 물감의 투명성을 이용해 광범위한 공간적 질서를 만들어 내며 공간적으로 다른 차원에 존재하는 것을 동시에 지각 할 수 있기 때문에 이러한 방법을 응용하였다. 반복은 어떤 사건과 사건사이, 형태와 형태사이, 공간과 공간사이에 대한 동일한 패턴의 연속이며 율동적인 회전을 뜻한다. 또한 동일한 요소나 대상이 둘 이상 배열되어 나타나고 역동적으로 리듬감의 변화를 줄수 있으며 동일한 형식의 구성이 반복되면 시선이 이동하여 상대적으로 동적인 느낌을 주어 리듬감이 생기므로 시각적인 힘의 강약효과를 느끼게 해준다. 본인 작품에서 동일한 요소가 반복하여 나타날 때 움직이는 느낌이 형성되면서 살아있는 것처럼 화면이 형성되고 힘의 균일 효과로 인해 다양한 표현효과를 볼 수 있다. 그리고 반복이 너무 적으면 단조롭게 되기 쉽고 지나치게 강조되면 전체적인 통일감을 저해하는 요인이 되므로 다양한 방법으로 반복의 이미지를 창조해 내고 있다. 본 작품에서 유기적인 형태의 이미지는 자연에서 빌려왔으며 이는 생명감과 자율적인 형태를 얻기 위한 과정으로 사용하였다. 섬세한 면들은 꿈틀거리는 유기적인 덩어리의 움직임을 나타내고자 하였으며, 중첩과 반복을 통하여 다양한 형상들을 표현하고자 하였다. 따라서 본인의 의식 속 에서 선택된 이미지는 그 자체의 고유한 상징성을 지니거나 또한 본인의 감정에 따라서 만들어진다. 본인 작품연구는 제작동기를 논하였고 공간적 표현과 유기적 형상 ?G 기하적 형상과 반복과 중첩에 대해 살펴보았다. 이러한 연구를 통해 작업과정에서 표현의 기능을 모색하여 보인의 화면에 나타내고자 하는 것이다.|The history of arts is as long as that of society. Arts have been with the society irrespective of time and space. At present, arts, inseparable from human life, is expanding its realm via diversification and popularization. As the aura of the art dimmed out with the current of the times, the ultimate pursuit of arts has been altered from the salvation to the inner self of human beings and value of life. The author of this study is also interested in organic forms with vitality that are expressed with geometric shapes. In her works, visual variation is pursued via repetition and overlap. As shapes are overlapped and parts are covered by other parts in different layers, unified patterns that such overlapped images make are more focused and as a result, the whole is more emphasized. In addition, overlap, in the respect of visual effect, impose motions to the space and produced infinite world of shapes. Such motion produced by repetition and overlap generate rhythm and beat. With the motion and rhythm in the works, the author visualizes empty space. By using transparency of watercolor wide range of spatial order is produced and different dimensions can be existed in a same space. The use of repetition and overlap is to fulfill the object depicted above. Repetition in her works refers to continuance of identical patterns in between events, shapes and spaces. When more than two identical objects are arranged, it also produces activeness and rhythm, and guide sights to move to a certain direction. With the repetition of identical shapes, visual difference in strength is expressed. As motion is expressed by repetition, objects are given vitality and strength is equalized to bring about diverse expressive effects. Here degree and amount of repetition is carefully decided because when it is repeated too little, visual effects gets too simple, while the wholeness is hindered when it is repeated too much. Organic shapes of images in her works are employed from the nature and are used to express vitality and self-controlling mechanism. Delicately-reorganized faces are adopted to express organic matter with mobility. Repetition and overlap are used to express diverse shapes. By using diverse methods of expression, the author consciously designs unique symbolism and emotions. The study depicts motive that author has, and how repetition and overlap of organic shapes are used for visual expression of space. The study aims at seeking functions of each method of expression in the author's work and how the method is activated to express the author's design in her works.
