의미비유와 합성에 의한 Illustration 표현 : Flower Image를 이용한 작품제작을 중심으로

Abstract

현대 사회에서의 일러스트레이션은 우리 생활에서 의사전달을 하는 하나의 방법으로서 역할을 한다. 단순히 그림으로서의 역할을 넘어서 사회적 공간에서 일러스트레이?叩? 대중과의 사이에서 일어나는 상호작용을 나타낸다. 이것은 개인적인 의식뿐만 아니라, 정신적 창조적 표현 그리고 그 시대의 사회상을 보여준다. 일러스트레이션은 원시 시대의 동굴벽화로부터 예술의 새로운 조형이념을 다극화시킨 현대에 이르기까지 모든 분야로부터 영향을 받으며 독자적인 영역으로 발전해갔다. 형상의 시각적 특성에 의한 전달을 목적으로 하는 조형수단이므로 시각적인 메시지로서 형상에 상응하는 언어적 해독을 함으로써 원활한 커뮤니케이션이 이루어지는 본질을 가진다. 현대 사회에서 이를 표현하기 위한 것으로서 주로 자연적인 요소를 사회적 요소와 부합시켜 비유하게 되는데, 그 중에서 자연적인 소재인 꽃을 빈번히 사용하게 된다. 꽃은 효과적인 표현 소재로서 인간의 감정을 이끌어 내는데 사용된다. 그러므로 현대사회에서 발생된 현상에서 찾아 표현하고자 한다. 꽃은 인간에게 무한한 감정을 제공한다. 그 감정은 인간이 받아들이는 정도에 따라 그 영향이 달라진다. 인간이 수용할 수 있는 영향의 형태는 지금까지 살아온 생활의 경험에 의해 지배받는다. 꽃과 관련된 경험이 없다면 그것에 대한 표현을 받아들이는 수단으로서의 기능을 상실하게 된다. 이 표현을 받아들이기 위해 우리의 곁에 있어 쉽게 느끼지 못한 소재를 형태의 유사성을 이용하여 시각적으로 표현함으로써 효과적으로 전달과 동시에 재 기억시킴으로 파지(把持) 효과를 극대화 시킨다. 전체의 형상 혹은 부분적인 형태를 유사성과 그 형태가 가지는 속성을 일상적 매개체와 접목시켜, 전달하고자 하는 내용을 꽃의 형태로 의미 비유와 합성으로 표현하여 시각적 커뮤니케이션을 강화시키고자 하였다. 표현의 중심이 되는 상징물인 꽃을 시각전달에 있어 흥미를 일깨워 주고자 하는 표현방법인 「의미비유와 합성」의 방법으로 함축성과 주목성을 높임으로서 비쥬얼 스캔들(visual scandal)과 의미 비유적 상징에 의한 시각적 충격과 착각을 유도하여 표현적 이미지를 강화시키고 시각적 커뮤니케이션을 갖도록 하였다. 부정적인 요소를 긍정적인 요소와 결합시킴으로써, 비상식적이고 비논리적인 형태로 무채색과 유채색, 그리고 질감의 대비 등으로 채색하여 나타내었다. 표현방법으로는 배경 및 공간처리는 내용을 증폭시킬 수 있는 상징적 이미지 색상으로 채색하여 나타내었다. 캔버스 보드에 아크릴 칼라로 여러 가지 표현방법을 채택하여 채색하였다. 이러한 표현기법으로 의미비유와 합성 표현을 위주로 한 일러스트레이션을 제작하여 현대사회에서 사물이 가지는 고유한 이미지를 벗어나 새롭게 전환된 감정의 계기를 유도하면서 일러스트레이션 분야에 한 방향을 제시하였다.|In modern society, illustrations are a means of communication in our life. Illustrators use illustrations beyond the simple role as pictures to interact with the public in social space. Such illustration-based communication shows not only individual consciousness, but also mental and creative expressions and social image of the times. Illustrations have developed into their own genre as they have been influenced by all other genres from cave murals of the primitive times to diversified new formative concepts of arts of modern times. Illustrations are a formative means aimed at communicating through visual characteristics of forms, and thus they as visual messages essentially undergo unique linguistic interpretation to match forms to facilitate communications. To express such illustrations in modern society, natural elements and social elements are matched and likened, and especially natural subject matter, flowers, are frequently used for this purpose. Flowers, as an effective subject matter, are used to trigger human emotions. Thus, the research sought to explore phenomena in modern society and express them into illustrations. Flowers elicit unlimited emotions in human beings. Such emotions' influence varies according to how human beings accept them. Types of influence that human beings can accept are controlled by what experience they have had in life. If one does not have an experience relating to flowers, one has lost the function as the means of accepting expressions of flowers. To help accept such expressions, we can visually express subject matters that we have around us but are not easily conscious of, using their similarities in forms, thus effectively conveying such expressions and simultaneously helping re-memorizing them and eventually maximizing the memory retention effect. The research sought to link the whole forms and partial forms with ordinary media through their similarities and their attributes, and express messages into forms of flowers through similes and composition, thus strengthening visual communications. In visually conveying flowers, the prime expression symbol, the research also sought to use semantic simile and composition geared stimulating interest, enhance implications and attention, and induce visual shocks and illusions through visual scandals and semantic simile symbol, thus strengthening expressive images and creating visual communications. Also, by coupling negative elements with positive elements, illustrations were drawn in non-sense and illogical forms, and were colored in achromatic colors and chromatic colors, and in contrasting textures. For the expression method, symbolic image colors that can amplify contents were used for background and space treatment. Canvas boards were colored with acrylic colors using various expression methods. The research used mainly semantic similes and composition based on these expression techniques in crafting illustrations, shed proper images of objects in modern society, induced new emotion-triggering momentums, and thus presented a new direction for illustrations.
