陰陽五行의 시각에서 바라본 미셸 뚜르니에의 『방드르디 또는 태평양의 苦聖所』

Abstract

미셸 뚜르니에의 『방드르디 또는 태평양의 苦聖所 Vendredi ou les limbes du pacifique』 (1967)는 다니엘 디포의 『로빈슨 크루소 Robinson Crusoé』(1719)를 다시쓰기한 것이다. 뚜르니에는 자신의 작품들에서 인간 사고의 원형인 신화를 되살려내고자 한다. 이에 『방드르디 또는 태평양의 苦聖所 』에서 로뱅송이 도달하는 <태양의 세계>와 디포의 원작과는 전혀 다른 <방드르디의 떠남>과 <죄디의 등장>이 갖는 의미를 동양 철학의 원형이라고 할 수 있는 陰陽五行의 원리에 입각하여 분석해 보았다. Ⅰ부에서는 陰陽五行의 개념설명과 함께, 작중요소의 성향을 바탕으로 로뱅송은 火, 스페란차는 土, 방드르디는 金, 바다와 방드르디의 떠남은 水 그리고 죄디는 木에 연결시켰다. Ⅱ부에서는 陰陽五行의 원리를 바탕으로 작중요소의 관계를 분석해 보았다. 五行相生 구조를 대입해보면 다섯 가지 작중요소가 등장하는 <줄거리 흐름>과 작중 요소와의 관계를 통해 로뱅송이 겪게 되는 <내적 변화의 흐름>, 이렇게 두 가지의 相生 구조를 살 펴 볼 수 있는데, 결과적으로 작품 전체가 相剋과 相生을 연결시켜 본 剋生의 원리 즉, 五行의 원리로 분석하는 것이 가능하였다. 五行의 시각에서, 뚜르니에가 되살리고자 하는 신화의 세계인 태양의 세계는 모든 대립이 초월된 太極의 세계이며, 로뱅송의 태양적 변모를 위하여 방드르디가 떠나는 것은 불가피하고, 죄디는 태양의 세계를 완성시키는 마지막 황금 고리의 역할을 한다는 것을 도출하였다.|Michel TOURNIER’s Vendredi ou les limbes du pacifique(1967) is a remade product(reécrire) of Daniel DEFOE’s Robinson Crusoé(1719). He intends to revive the myth that he considers as the archetype of human thought in his works. The purpose of this article is to analyze Vendredi ou les limbes du pacifique based on the principle of Yin-Yang & the Five Elements, the archetype of the oriental studies, while especially focusing on the meaning of following: <Solar city> where Robinson finally reaches in Vendredi ou les limbes du pacifique, <departure of Vendredi> and <appearance of Jeudi> which are totally different from the original works of DEFOE. In partⅠ, with the explanation of Yin-Yang & the Five Elements, five characters of Vendredi were classified according to the principle : Robinson corresponds to Fire, Speranza to Earth, Vendredi to Metal, Sea & departure of Vendredi to Water and Jeudi to Tree. In partⅡ, the relations between characters were reviewed on the principle of Yin-Yang & the Five Elements. Two win-win structures could be found in Vendredi ; one is < the passage of plot> in order of the presence of five characters and the other is <the passage of Robinson’s inner change> through the relation between Robinson and the five characters. Vendredi, in fact, was analyzed under the principle of conflict-win which connects conflict-conflict with win-win, which is the principle of Yin-Yang & the Five Elements. Finally, according to the viewpoint of Yin-Yang & the Five Elements, the following conclusions were derived : <Solar city> that TOURNIER aims to revive, corresponds to the Great Absolute, <departure of Vendredi> is necessary for solar transfiguration of Robinson and <Jeudi> takes a role of final golden link which completes the circle of solar city.
