- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to organize the theory and the educational meaning of education of music in the early age. Moreover its purpose is to consider on the importance of the period of education of music by analyzing the influence which the period of education of music can have on the choice of actual major.
For this study, I did a survey for 323 students who attend the music school of Sung shin women`s university, Konkuk university, Chung-ang university , which are 4-year college. A list of questions which were used in the survey was made and revised by the writer with the help of bibliography and the advice of a tutor.
To know the general characteristic of target, I operated Frequency Analysis. And to look into the actual condition of education of music in the early age in accordance with the general characteristic of respondents , I operated crossing analysis; Χ²(p). Moreover the analysis of actual proof in this study is inspected in the significance level of *p<.05, **p<.01, ***p<.001.
And I used SPSSWIN 12.0 programme in the statistics handling. The result from the result of analysis is like this.
The first, the younger the students started to study music, the more influence they got from their parents.
The second, the education of music in school and private music academy has had a great influence on the continuation of the study of music. Moreover, the earlier the students choose the major of music, the more influence they got from the education of music in school and private music academy.
The third, the interest in music of themselves has great influence on the choice of major in case of the students who started major of music late.
The fourth, the longer the students study music, the more helpful the study of music which the students learned individually in the practice of major.
The fifth, the younger the students started music, the more influence they got from the parents interests in music.
The sixth , most of the students answered that it was proper to teach music under 7 year old for their children. From the answers, I realized that they thought the education of music in early age was important.
As a result, this study proved that the education of music in early age has great influence on the choice of major, especially the earlier the children start to learn music , the easier the students choose music as major. Through all of them, the education of music in early age has the positive effect on the major of music. Therefore through the result mentioned above, I would like the proper indicator to be set and this study to be the help for the education of music in early age.
