음성인식기를 활용한 초등영어 CD-ROM title 개발 = Virtual LAB를 활용한 초등영어 교재개발

Abstract

영문초록: p. 3-4|Multimedia-based English education came to a center stage as a way of improving English education all over the world. This trend led to the Korean Government to adopt the 7th national English curriculum with an integration of the multimedia-assisted English instruction in 2001. There have been attempts to develop and use multimedia CD-ROM titles for language instruction. And also, Automatic Speech Recognition of educational application has been attempted recently. The primary object of this paper is to develop CD-ROM title using automatic speech recognition for Elementary School Students. After developing the CD-ROM title, 29 students studied English listening and speaking with this CD-ROM. Students' interest were measured through a survey. The major results of the analysis are as follow: 1. School computer systems have to be upgraded to ensure smooth operation of CD-ROM. 2. After showing teachers's guide about how to use the CD-ROM, students could use the CD-ROM without difficulties in their home and in the school. 3. The result of speaking test indicated that using the CD-ROM for the students enhanced the speaking ability. 4. The responses of the students were very positive. In conclusion, the study revealed that the use of the CD-ROM for students in the classroom and in the computer room give positive effect on the student's interest, participation, confidence, achievement and speaking ability. Consequently, use of the CD-ROM for students can be a good material for the purpose of the individualized teaching and attracting student's interest.
